Long Slow Whisper. Yooo, you and Byf are my favorite lore nuts for this game. I get so immersed in this game's lore and you both bring that fix. Please never stop creating!
Elsie mentions "Divergence", which has always nagged at me. Divergence being a point in time where one timeline becomes two parallel timelines, normally based on one significant decision or event. You mentioned that Elsie saw the future, would it be possible that "Divergence" is of some significance? Perhaps an attempt to create an alternate timeline somehow to avoid what she saw?
She probably used the tech from worldline 0 to see/travel through time. Once she realized it wasn't just a sword, she knew she had to hide it. She then possibly integrated that tech into her body to travel through time at will. Maybe?
Dude the saddest part of the quest is not these messages from Cayde, but when tou turn it in to Banshee so he can finish the repairs and he tells you to take good care of it, pauses for a moment, then asks if we’ve seen Cayde becuase he hasn’t seen him around in a while.
@@labellasunshine For real, I had to take a moment too. My grandfather died a few years back from, among other things, Alzheimer's. And towards the end he had little flashes like that where he would be completely normal then in an instant if he looked away or got distracted he would ask things like where I was, I was supposed to be visiting soon but referring to a time when I was just a little boy visiting his grandparents for the day. This one line of dialogue just about broke me. The direction and the delivery of the line was about the best moment, emotional-connection wise, I think I have ever felt with a game.
Somone else could have already thought of this but did anyone else just get the thought that in the black armory dlc it could be referencing her vaults ? And uncovering the secrets of the exo ?
I just wanna know, what is the deal with cayde exposing Clovis Bray secrets? Like, are they still around and operating after centuries of the Colapse, and conducting all their shaddy bussines completely hidden from the rest of humanity? HOW?
@@wintonmorgan5841 No, they are not exos, they made the exos and they probably did it in a way that wasn't very ethical. But that was during the golden age, centuries ago, when they had amounted an incredible wealth, when they had many labs, scientists, assets and could do whatever they wanted with all their money. But all of that was lost during the collapse. So my question is how is the company still around, without no one noticing them and doing things that would have Cayde wanting tho exposing them?
Long Slow Whisper. Maybe that massive number of resets was counteracted by her time travel to retrace her past (Just a thought tho) (Also at 7 mins, sword experiences technical difficulties😂)
Cayde believed and was afraid of the idea that at some point he would go astray and follow a darker path (see Myelin's video on why Cayde's family may have been a fabrication) , be it from manipulation or the darkness, he saw that if he had fell from grace, you would end it for him. He held us in high regard (even though that's like.... 90% of the in-game NPCs)
Well I mean he has messages to all sorts of people friend and enemy that might kill him at some point for whatever reason. Zavala and Ikora are also people he had messages saying they killed him. He was just covering his bases, also the message to you doesn’t actually say you killed him, he says he “knew you’d outdo me” and that that might have included killing him.
I'm wondering if the Long Slow Whisper is just a protocol where particularly belligerent Exos are wiped x times in a row, as means of punishment/torture for their insubordination. In computing, a pass is when data is overwritten by 1s and 0s so as to destroy that data. What if the Long Slow Whisper is just a kind of pass where, not only are memories deleted, but one's consciousness is entirely overwritten?
DeathAdmin That’s what I was thinking as well. Let’s assume Elsie knew not only a lot of stuff, but a bunch of it was quite terrible. It would make sense for them to go through some type of passing protocol in order to assure that these memories will NEVER come up by any chance or in any dream like some Exos have experienced.
Now that the Deep Stone Cold crypt raid has been released, combined with all of the new Beyond Light story and lore pieces, how much of this has "changed"?
I wonder if it might be similar to meanings given to other acronyms. For example in the military a bad conduct discharge is referred to, at least by marines, as big chicken dinner. Maybe long slow whisper refers to another technical term that is a three word phrase with the first letter of each word the same.
Before watching, I was thinking more along the lines of the Long Slow Whisper being the procedure that makes Exos have those weird killing dreams. From the Ghost Fragment: Legends - "Some of us go to the tower in peace... ... the rest of us meet an army." Maybe certain exos have these dreams implemented on purpose, via a Long Slow Whisper?
"Accessing Node 9875A. File header: SIVA Project. Files locked behind Epsilon Theta encryption A, D, and G. No decryption schema found." Failsafe is the key have always believed it. There’s no doubt in my mind that Cayde and Failsafe has some serious conversations while he was trapped on Nessus.
OMG, I want the only one who heard this and couldn't stop thinking about this. Talked on and on about this with my son. Now, I will listen to your video...
This is badass! Maybe we've been wrong and the Stranger will make another appearance? Also, I think it'd be a good idea to look back on the No Time To Explain questline from TTK with the context we have now. Lot's of things start to add up.
I think the divergence Elsie refers to in the memory fragments is her impending divergence from the timeline after her exposure to Vex tech, most likely whatever Sundaresh was working on. I think she was somehow exposed to this Vex tech via Sundaresh's researchi into it, and in so doing she saw the future of Clovis Bray, thus prompting her to investigate its secrets and subsequently hide and destroy her research topic stop the company from whatever it was planning. I also believe that she was already an Exo by this time, hence her exposure to the Vex not driving her insane and allowing her to travel between timelines after her divergence.
Most references to a whisper in destiny lore usually refer to Ahamkara/Worm suggestion. I wonder if Clovis Bray is hiding their involvement with one of these beasties
Slightly off topic... I wonder if caydes story about who or what ace is was a cover, something he manifested so it couldn't be found. Ace was a final play.... Ace was the initials for a program... Ace was to jump his memory of something... his reference to 7 a lot... not cayde 6 but cayde 7 and about being made and remade! Is there another cayde 7 already walking around?
or just make a good show out of it so it could put everything out there. like the ikora zavalla and cayde so we truly understand why zavalla is such a bitch
I think "The Long Slow Whisper" refers to the coding you receive while asleep in the Crypt as Clovis Bray transfers your sentience into the Exo frame. Kinda like what they do in Demolition Man.
levi singleton Are you saying it’s bad? It’s an absolute monster if you can use the perk efficiently it can do some serious add clean up and destroy in crucible
One of the scannable Items on Nessus (I believe) talks about how the ghost questions if there are any similarities between the vex and the exos, maybe the slow whisper is the code name for a captured vex mind.
Another reason I feel it has something to do with the vex, is that during the mission Looped, failsafe says That the vex transformed the consciousness into data to analyse it, so maybe Clovis Bray are using that same concept to make the exo or have the vex machine that does it.
The long slow whisper could be a reference to the whispered being cayde encountered and wrote about in his diary. The thing that we assume to be the darkness... it could also associate with this event in a way e.g it was a protocol to try and cover up the existence of the being long shot but let me know what you guys think
This is 3 months old so maybe someone has thought of this, but in the message Cayde forgets what he what he was thinking for a second before remembering "Long Slow Whisper" which could be hinting to Long Slow Whisper being a term used for deleting exo minds

Samuel Hutmacher When was when last time we listen to Zavala? Sometimes I wonder if constant defiance of Zavala's orders is only the reason he hasn't gotten us all killed yet. Edit: In all seriousness though, Hunter Vanguards are known to be hard to replace as none of them want to be stuck at the Tower. Zavala might be ok with it since Elsi seems like she'd actually put more effort into her job than she would finding reasons to leave.
i have to agree lol i wonder some time's if its more like if i say this you will do the opposite so really there mind gaames to think where not doing what he says dun dun dun :P
The wording makes me wonder if there's a 'longer' game at play. I mean we already knew about the mind wipes and DER, it was pretty much a given what Deep Stone Crypt was used for (at least one application), so why the mystery behind Long Slow Whisper? If it was just mind wipes, then whether it was to fight DER or erase secrets its still just mind wipes, a known process. Now it's a leap admittedly, but considering none of this really matters much if Willa, Clovis, and everyone else are dead and dust for the last several hundred years, what if Long Slow Whisper, and the Crypt itself, are some kind of lifeboat/apocalypse vault program?
It might have something to do with ahamkara. Because they’re the only other ones who whisper. Maybe papa bray made some deal with them. N had to commit atrocities to hold up his end of the bargain.
i have a feeling the long slow whisper is a specific type of exo reboot where instead of just rebooting on a min or 2 it takes a longer time like perhaps months and the exo experiences a "long slow whisper" while shut down of themselves rebooting? or it could be the complete opposite where the "long slow whisper" is a subroutine that slowly and over a period of time makes the Exo forget themselves get controlled by the deep stone crypt and goes insane, ya know hearing voices etc, to kill or assassinate a specific person or do a particularly dark task
I feel like they found an ahamkara/worm god, hence the long slow whisper, also I don't think the name DEEP stone crypt is an accident, so possibly they were communicating with the deep there along with the fact that it's around Saturn; where the dreadnought headed to. Another point is possibly that Saturn is the 6th planet in the solar system, so maybe there's something lurking in Uranus
Definitely look at the similarities between the Whisper of the Worm lore and everything you uncovered. Remember that the Stranger is essentially a dark guardian, who's powers and ressurrection ability is not tied to the traveler and the light, but rather tied to something "other than the light" or maybe even the Darkness itself. I think that it can't be an accident that the WotW quest is available every weekend, and that Bungee is very obviously pointing at it, as the Forsaken expansion definitely focuses on the catylist of Cayde-6's death leading to the corruption of the Prince, and the Awoken sanctuary of the Dreaming City--both of which use Hive and Taken death-magic and the Ascendant realm. This leads me to believe that the Long Slow Whisper is in fact some sort communion with or utilization Hive/Taken technology. I think Cayde knew it, and I think his threat isn't to blow the whistle, but that Cayde will use a form of Dark ressurrection in the even his Ghost is Killed--something he learned about when he entered the Exo program.
I cant help but think the Long Slow Whisper has something to do with Ahamkara. Since so much of their lore, especially regarding their bones, refrence whispers. Has there ever been any correlation between Clovis Bray and the dragons?
Elsie and Mia S. Were both doing research into vex technology. There's lore about her wanting to go visit Mia S and see what she's working on. Yes Mia was working on "the device" but they'd also probably figured out like the future war cult did that it drives humans mad and only exos had the proper ability to use it without complications. So Elsie visited Dr. Mia and saw the future then and immediately began planning. By being a very high ranking Clovis bray family member I theorize she made a new user account, a "super user" knowing what was to come in which enacting it would follow a set of programs and initiatives when it was time. She then set about creating vex tech like a exo body with vex gate network access. For evidence (See various scanables on Nessus) also creates the sword and sparrow to escape with and to help in her fight. I then believe When Willa bray caught on, because the two research facilities were not supposed to communicate with each other about their work (see in lore) she came after Elsie. Elsie decided it was time. Realizing she can't take the tech she stashes it and moves to her plan. The "super user " account wipes everything and I also believe runs an exo conversion process in the on sight Clovis Bray exo facility on site (see Mars lost sector) it runs the program the "long slow whisper" whipes her memory as a precaution. But also runs into problems and she's repeatedly rebooted until she accepts it. Again all in simple programming which she does. She then uses her custom made exo vex tech body and escapes. Through a vex time gate. She then goes on to make more weapons like the mythoclast. Just a theory..
There's also the physical letter found with the real life Valkyrie that literally states Elsie Bray is the Exo Stranger. And says she was saved from a deadly disease by becoming an Exo. So, either Elsie became an Exo to save her life with her own project, and then continued further research and things went south (didn't like how evil her family had become or her family's evil was going to, or has, struck her), or things went south and her family caught her and turned her into an Exo, creating the false memory of a deadly disease and becoming an Exo is how she was saved to help stem the return of memories that compromised her in the first place.

Hi again! Have you ever thought that "Long Slow Whisper" is the name of a hidden routine implanted by Clovis Bray into the Exo for nefarious purposes? I mean, it matches the patter of three weird word as "Deep Stone Crypt", which I strongly believe is not the name of a location but the name of another routine. "Crypt" could be intended as a tomb or a crypted code, you know what I mean? The eponymous mark of the Titan from D1 said that this was the routine that gave self awareness to the Exos. So, Deep Stone Crypt is the name of a routine and Long Slow Whisper coud be too.

"Clarity Control."
This is quite a bit of deep dive. Very interesting. Love your videos! Keep up the good work man!
Maybe?
Probably when she turned exo
Likely a refrence to the day she was slated to start the process of becoming an exo. She would literally “diverge” from her body.
HOW?
They're Exos. They seem to live forever unless destroyed or rebooted.
Alva Morgan what if banshee is a bray
@@wintonmorgan5841 No, they are not exos, they made the exos and they probably did it in a way that wasn't very ethical. But that was during the golden age, centuries ago, when they had amounted an incredible wealth, when they had many labs, scientists, assets and could do whatever they wanted with all their money. But all of that was lost during the collapse.
So my question is how is the company still around, without no one noticing them and doing things that would have Cayde wanting tho exposing them?
So turns out that Clovis actually does have some super fucked up secrets lmao
@@hizpanicGam3r recently it was HEAVILY implied that Banshee is indeed Clovis Bray I.

(Also at 7 mins, sword experiences technical difficulties😂)
I appreciate that computers and systems decades if not centuries in the future still use Unix.
Funny enough Rasputin is actually run on Windows Vista.
Can you go over why cayde thinks we killed him?
And what's your fav cayde quote mine is Hey...take me with you
Cayde believed and was afraid of the idea that at some point he would go astray and follow a darker path (see Myelin's video on why Cayde's family may have been a fabrication) , be it from manipulation or the darkness, he saw that if he had fell from grace, you would end it for him. He held us in high regard (even though that's like.... 90% of the in-game NPCs)
thinks we *WOULD* kill him
Hey, You got an extra gun I can borrow?
Well I mean he has messages to all sorts of people friend and enemy that might kill him at some point for whatever reason. Zavala and Ikora are also people he had messages saying they killed him. He was just covering his bases, also the message to you doesn’t actually say you killed him, he says he “knew you’d outdo me” and that that might have included killing him.
“I may be dead, but I guarantee you haven’t heard the last of me.” -Cayde-6
Who's here after Bungie released all of the Clovis Bray lore right before Beyond Light?
I'm wondering if the Long Slow Whisper is just a protocol where particularly belligerent Exos are wiped x times in a row, as means of punishment/torture for their insubordination.
In computing, a pass is when data is overwritten by 1s and 0s so as to destroy that data. What if the Long Slow Whisper is just a kind of pass where, not only are memories deleted, but one's consciousness is entirely overwritten?
DeathAdmin Wow. That’s actually really cruel and dark and would make sense honestly.
I am slowly eating my popcorn, and looking intensely at the screen and taking notes.
This video was so great I hit the like button twice.
I liked your comment twice then liked it a 3rd time seeming it took it away. 🤣
Maybe that's why Cayde doesn't just mention it but says "what was it again? oh yeah.." a little hint at memory loss and such
Long Slow Whisper
Well done, as always. Thank you for bringing Destiny’s lore to the masses.
Thanks for your support, I see you have watched a number of videos:)
Long slow whisper just refers to a new exotic, Essentially the whisper, But a linear fusion rifle. Hence, Long and slow.
5:58 for the time skip
Before watching, I was thinking more along the lines of the Long Slow Whisper being the procedure that makes Exos have those weird killing dreams.
From the Ghost Fragment: Legends - "Some of us go to the tower in peace... ... the rest of us meet an army."
Maybe certain exos have these dreams implemented on purpose, via a Long Slow Whisper?
This hits different now due to beyond light
Oh man, and we helped one of these criminals boot up their ancient AI of death.
The Bray family still needs much revisiting. Thanks a lot for the dissertation!
Loving the content recently myelin. Keep up the great work. Videos are true masterpieces
So have either you or Byf attained that Chronicler title yet? Also Long Slow Whisper
Imagine if the "long slow whisper" was a messed up whisper that wipes the mind
Slightly off topic... I wonder if caydes story about who or what ace is was a cover, something he manifested so it couldn't be found. Ace was a final play.... Ace was the initials for a program... Ace was to jump his memory of something... his reference to 7 a lot... not cayde 6 but cayde 7 and about being made and remade! Is there another cayde 7 already walking around?
Ace was the nickname for his son
There is so much shit in this game they should make a trilogy of movies
or just make a good show out of it so it could put everything out there. like the ikora zavalla and cayde so we truly understand why zavalla is such a bitch
Dude you do your research. Appreciate all the time you put into these videos.
I think "The Long Slow Whisper" refers to the coding you receive while asleep in the Crypt as Clovis Bray transfers your sentience into the Exo frame. Kinda like what they do in Demolition Man.
If I made the World Line Zero, I would hide it in shame too!

I think the long slow whisper may be hive related, data on how exos are made are pretty unknown still.
One of the scannable Items on Nessus (I believe) talks about how the ghost questions if there are any similarities between the vex and the exos, maybe the slow whisper is the code name for a captured vex mind.
Another reason I feel it has something to do with the vex, is that during the mission Looped, failsafe says That the vex transformed the consciousness into data to analyse it,
so maybe Clovis Bray are using that same concept to make the exo or have the vex machine that does it.
Sounds like destiny's version of the frozen forest from BO3

I'm guessing the 3rd DLC upcoming, penumbra will be something about Exos and/or deep stone crypt. They have said it will be a mystery dlc
...and it’s a Calus DLC
The long slow whisper could be a reference to the whispered being cayde encountered and wrote about in his diary. The thing that we assume to be the darkness... it could also associate with this event in a way e.g it was a protocol to try and cover up the existence of the being long shot but let me know what you guys think
Awesome video, was not aware of the podcast I'll have to check it. Long Slow Whisper.
That portrait is too dope!
This is 3 months old so maybe someone has thought of this, but in the message Cayde forgets what he what he was thinking for a second before remembering "Long Slow Whisper" which could be hinting to Long Slow Whisper being a term used for deleting exo minds
A bit surprised you didn't mention this, but those coordinates at the end of the message signed E are for Sleeping Beauty Peak in New York.

Lovely work Matt.
So Cayde knew about using the darkness to make Exo's.
my first thoughts was shiro 4 could replace cayde as the new varnguard hunter now i wonder if the stranger could replace him as the vangurad would be intresting :)
o i know she''s not a guardian played D1 still never know we are now allys with the queen and things have changed osiris was exiled and seems to be more welcoming seems like where learning they were not crazy or insane just picked a path that seemed to be bad at the time but was always with the city :)
also she side its always good to pick a side even if its the wrong side still so much left unanswered just ment it would be intresting look at hawthorne back in the day there would be no chance for someone who was not a guardian to be in the city she's here :)
lol no better use for some duck tap :P
Got a good feeling theres a huge proverbial about to hit the fan with all this.... cant wait
It might have something to do with ahamkara. Because they’re the only other ones who whisper. Maybe papa bray made some deal with them. N had to commit atrocities to hold up his end of the bargain.
I love your videos filling me in on destiny’s story that I don’t have time to pursue
Long Slow Whisper
So today starts season 5, that includes "one of the greatest weapons of Golden Era". Maybe something about Bray's Vaults included?
This guy already knew about Beyond Light raid 2 years earlier
i have a feeling the long slow whisper is a specific type of exo reboot where instead of just rebooting on a min or 2 it takes a longer time like perhaps months and the exo experiences a "long slow whisper" while shut down of themselves rebooting? or it could be the complete opposite where the "long slow whisper" is a subroutine that slowly and over a period of time makes the Exo forget themselves get controlled by the deep stone crypt and goes insane, ya know hearing voices etc, to kill or assassinate a specific person or do a particularly dark task
I have to say Nolan's impression for Fillion is almost spot on when he's doing the quiet roachy voice for Cayde.
Well, Beyond Light gave us lots on info on that.

I really like playing as an Exo Titan. Its like my character had this previous life and now i'm his new mind after a reset.

Oryxbng is absolutely Christopher Barrett. I used to watch him stream some, he'd show off his 8bit art and some stuff like that wouldn't talk about the game at all.
Cayde -6 definitely is a Bray. Not sure which one. Now that we know Banshee-44 is actually Clovis Bray this is my belief.
We already know who he was. He wasn't a Bray. He became an exo because it was the only way he could repay his debts and at least give a normal life to his family.
You mentioned that Banshee-44 is messed up because he’s been reset that many times. What about Cayde? During the mission, he states that he has been reset many more times, he just stopped counting at 6. “Something about 7”
