My transitions are shit. I’m usually sitting on the ground drying my feet, putting socks on, eventually getting the shoes on. Flying mount ? Hahahahahah ….. no.

I use both. Tri shoes for racing, and road shoes for training. Road shoes are so much more comfortable.
Tri shoes do have a definite use case even for road cyclists - indoor training. They are designed to be better with moisture (sweat) and drain and dry so much better than road shoes - and stink less

I just saw GCN feature Conor and Idai Makaya on an Elliptical Bike. I thought that would be of some benefit to a triathlete: cycling and running at the same time. Please feature it when you can. Thanks!

I usually do medium/full distances and wear Road shoes (Vaypour S) woth a custom made loop sawed back for flying mount. Since I’m an average age-grouper that competes only for the fun of it, it works perfectly for me.

Very informative video Mark!! One other small question I’d have IF one is more aero than the other……? Triathlon specific looks less aero especially over the longer course??

The boas can be tough if you're coming out of a cold water swim. I discovered this in a race last week when I could barely close them 🙈🙈😂😂😂😂

Thank you for sharing this part of your training. It always give us great ideas.
On our channel we post videos that can be used as a virtual run. That can be used to run on a treadmill or to get to know the cities of Brazil. I'd like to see you there 😊

I'd be curious to know how a more aero triathlon shoe like the Bont Zero+ would compare on a longer course; would the aero savings outperform the road shoes? Especially since they use the Boa closure and may be a bit stiffer than the Shimano shoes.

If your budget is on the low end, cheap road shoes don't feel much different than mid priced triathlon shoes, no advantage in using them.

The thing to me is that Road shoes are not necessarily more comfortable as GTN is implying.
