    Episode 95 of Love At First Scent
    This was a RUclips Live broadcast streamed on Saturday 30th May 2020. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
    In this episode, I covered the brand new Aesop Rozu, composed by Barnabe Fillion.
    --
    Here's the blotter update...
    As the press release suggested, Rozu's drydown heads into 'distinguished masculine' territory: a subtle vetiver combined with woods and patchouli. The rose remains present throughout, making this a compelling, haunting piece of work. Do seek it out.
    Thanks again for watching.

    I’ve just discovered you channel today because I’m looking at Aesop product reviews.
    It really helps consumers decide based on your description. It’s tricky to buy perfume without experiencing it first. Thanks for the work that you do! Hello from the Philippines 💕

    This sounds really interesting. I love an unusual, masculine-skewed rose. I will visit the local Aesop shop (when / if it ever reopens!) and have a try....

    So I went into Aesop today primarily to try Hwyl but ended up having Rozu sprayed on my other arm as well. I didn't love the first sniff of Rozu but as it settled down, it really smelled intriguing. How can I describe it...it smells like something floral (agree with you that it's not a replication of what a rose smells like...it's more like a memory? an abstraction of a rose?) peeking through a wood forest. Rozu is outdoing Hwyl so far on longevity (5 hours and counting). I keep coming back to sniff the arm sprayed with Rozu. The price is a little steep though. Would really have to sleep on it.

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  4 года назад +3

      I agree 100%. There is something so haunting about it. It’s rapidly turning into one of my favourite releases of the year so far.
      Thanks so much for watching.

    Have Marrakesh and Tacit, they are expensive but smell really natural and good quality. Rozu is extremely pricey at £130 for 50ml!

      It certainly isn’t cheap. Thanks for watching 😊

    I love Aesop, Tacit is like a fresh basil salad, it's outdoorsy. a better take on fresh.
    Hwyl is what I wear because Mystra is retired. Hwyl is very forest like and again outdoorsy. the smoke is cold like an abandoned camp fire
    Mystra was smoked Labdanum off it's head midnight hour dark fantastic. I'm upset it's no longer around.
    Marrakech is what one of the guys at the art gallery wear, the ceilings are quiet high there but you can tell if he's been in that area it leaves a lovely scent trail. The projection with Marrakech is much more than the other two. Hwyl has stick around longevity; I think it gets better as you get on bit into the day, it some how complements a bit of a sweaty body.
    Can't wait to try Roza. It'll be a blind buy because Melbourne is a a full days drive away.
    I trust your reviews :)

    There's just something about it and you describe it so well but my description would be. it's a rose in its raw form in its entirety its the dirt beneath it the trees around it this stretch of woods its the smell when you've been walking through the woods with the dirt slightly wet and you kneel down to sniff the rose its the smell of a rose and all the life around it and I really enjoy that

    I have two Aesop fragrances, I really like the Japanese hinoki forest of Hwyl. I have tried Rozu. It's on the list. I usually find rose a bit hard to pull off. It can be quite cloying. This is a different rose. Wearing it I noticed a minty note, but that could easily be me naming something else that. Not sure about the longevity, but that is possibly because I tried and bought Chanel's Antaeus at the same time and that's nuclear compared to the light breeze of Rozu.

    • @Persolaise

    Aesop is wonderful. I'm wearing Hwyl today, and I wore Tacit yesterday. Tacit blends basil and vetiver perfectly, while Hwyl is a mesmerizing marriage of frankincense and cypress. What season do you think complements this fragrance? Is it more fall/winter or spring/summer?

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  3 года назад +1

      Ooooh... I’m not wildly into the idea of seasonal fragrances. But if we’re talking about Rozu, I must say, I think the coolness of autumn might have an interesting effect on its woodiness.
      Thank you so much for watching.

      @@Persolaise Thanks for the reply. I agree that attributing seasonality can be problematic. Your answer has encouraged me to spring (no pun intended) for a bottle of Rozu. I could use a mysterious woody floral fragrance right now.
      Great content, btw. You describe fragrances quite well, which is a rare feat indeed.

    I find most perfumes terribly offensive. I haven't worn anything for years. Rozu is perfect for me. Complicated but subtle. And as you said, has a very natural feel. I even like the fact it fades through the day and becomes even more subtle.

    Riddle me this…..I’ve found lots of recent perfumes when I spray to test I keep my arm away and see if I smell it, nope, not even waving it around but when I sniff my skin I can then smell it for hours. I’m thinking is this a molecule based con? You think you smell it all around you but it’s only in your nasal passage. I wear fragrances just for me so I’m not fussed if no one else gets a waft but should I feel a bit cheated? What’s your take

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  Год назад

      I’m not sure I totally understand, but no, I don’t think there’s any sort of con. If you can smell the scent, then I expect other people can too.

    • @beavisbonce
      @beavisbonce Год назад

      @@Persolaise what I mean is when you spray your wrist most times with designer fragrances you already smell it in the air if they are decent but some you don’t get a waft of unless you sniff your skin and then you pull away and you can smell it in your nose but it’s not emanating from your wrist.

    • @Persolaise
