I think it bounces from being an unfair gacha trap to being a mindless cakewalk depending on what type of account you have and there's nowhere in between
f2p, ar59, cleared in 2nd attempt. not sure why people are having trouble with it. yeah i know why. probably because everyone is so used to mindless neuvilette and arlecchino that they cannot form teams with elemental restrictions. i smell skill issues
@@jinxed_ash I think it's because too many players spend months in artefact domains trying to get that god-like crit ratio, instead of farming for exp books, talents, leveling weapons, etc. I'm also f2p and have been playing for over two years. I've 27 characters build (and only 10 of them are exclusive 5*) and I love this new mode!

I played it and had a lot of fun, but there's definitely some issues. Personally i think they could be addressed if they either A) allowed you to bring characters that aren't level 70 yet, or B) allowed you to run teams with less than 4 characters I feel like a lot of times you end up in situations where you know you can clear in time with just 3 units and you're wasting a 4th possibly good one just because the game won't let you. If you could just run less or fill that spot with a level 20 amber on full noblesse or something it would be much better
This is basically a way for them to reduce F2P rewards without saying they're reducing F2P rewards. For most F2P players, even if you have enough characters for one cycle, you'll likely not for another cycle with different elements (for example, cryo/geo). Even for this hell of an abyss cycle, my C1 xiangling and C2 xingqiu on fontaine fishing pipe still got me the full clear after many attempts, but for a theater cycle I don't have units for, I can't do anything except sit and watch the primos disappear into thin air. When selecting units to level just for the theater, try to use units that can get away with no talent damage and just stack EM, which also means you can get away with a low level weapon and/or 3 star statsticks with low base atk. Lvl 1 fav weapon + crit rate circlet can make a character usable. Prioritize characters with any off-field presence since you get a lot of trial DPS characters. If on the other hand this game mode has been too easy for you, try getting the "fate's unpredictable favor" achievement, guaranteed to drive you crazy
Pretty much.... Genshin Impact needs to pay its developers, voice actors, and even a godforsaken symphony orchestra! The real "game mode" is profit. And, Imaginarium Theater is just another way to sell characters, weapons, and level-up materials. The only problem I see is newer players will be *less likely* to spend, because winning Imaginarium Theater is so far into the future.... Why even bother, when a newer player can just explore Fontaine, and Natlan, instead?
The majority of my characters are anemo pyro and electro and I'm still missing two characters for hard mode so any other set of elements and i won't even get to do normal at this point
I don't believe they'll do a season where there's Elements that don't have reactions with each other. A huge aspect of this thing is having challenges to cause those reactions.
at this point of the game, mihoyo should really start giving away 4 stars character more easily, most of them are only viable at c4 or c6 and its easier to have a 5 star than a c6 4 star, and dont talk about the big number of players who miss a lot of those 4 stars
for me the biggest issue of the game are the artifact farming (some improves but still a pain) and the lack of 4 stars characters. (im glad that i pulled on specific banners for the 4 stars, but back in the day this idea was completly hated, imaging not having a bennet or xinqui today)

The game has changed A LOT and already in the market are some genshin clones, i dont think its a good idea to be greedy
I'm a f2p AR60 player that has everything quest and map related at 100%. I will need to level 4 more characters to lvl 70 to not use them in fight... funny

15 max uses for people’s borrowable characters is absolute unnecessary bs. 18 is too many. And if you’re gonna force that on us, then I can say that Divergent Universe got it right with the whole auto level system. 👏
much restriction. When I needed kazuha, they gave me hu Tao as an expansion of the principal cast. It forced me to play with Clorinde, arlecchino and wanderer in the same team. Without hydro, Hu Tao's solo damage is pretty low. I cannot play with XQ due to restrictions. Some stahes are super easy. We xan do it when with solo but they are forcing is to use a full team casing wastage of vigor. Difficulty is not an issue for this end game, stupid restrictions is the main culprit.
I agree. When we have to invest to so many characters for this and we can use them only twice, we should at least have possibility to choose whatever character from roster we want, not what game decides to give us
Same here; I used trial wanderer (never used him before…), Chlorinde and Arlecchino in 1-6 and now I am stuck in Act 7 with Wrio and mostly Anemo supports like Sucrose, Lynette, Jean and Xianyun….so annoying, I don’t want to start again
A small but painful for newer players part of the restrictions is that if you have a Principal Cast character that's not built better than their trial, then that character becomes effectively worthless. I have my Arlecchino at a power level very similar to the trial, which means that if I had built literally any other Pyro DPS, I would have an extra character at basically no loss, which is, in a sense, a really stupid way to punish people who have pulled the Principal Cast characters, but haven't built them extremely well yet. An easy way to fix it while also partly addressing some of the issues mentioned in the video would be to increase the Vigor to 4 for Principal Cast characters that you already own and have at the required level.
I just got Alhaitham and Clorinde a few weeks ago and of couse they are playable! They are not strong at the moment. + My arlecchino is in a similar situation. We are getting 6 trial characters how amazing! But I built 3 of them! And I don't have enough for hard mode🤣
The other problem I'm having even as someone who leans horizontal investment, is that you have to use the featured characters, and they are like "oh it's cool we'll give you these lvl 80 trial characters if you don't have them so nbd". But they also don't actually let you practice with those characters, so if you have no idea how to play chlorinde, arllechino, faruzan, wanderer, you are basically just button smashing. I'm also on mobile so the learning curve or ability to use certain characters you are unfamiliar with or those that use a bow is extra high. So I have enough characters to technically do hard mode, but since 5 of the 6 featured characters are not ones I ever have played that I'm forced to use in the early stages.... barely cleared normal. :(

It baffles me that the game has 7 elements and some of y'all straight up deliberately avoid building characters of certain elements. I figured on day 1 that every element matters so I built at least 3 characters of each element.
As a horizontally investing dolphin my main issues were: - HAS TO USE FULL 4 CHARACTER TEAM, this is dumb and stupid and dumb and I hate it - game puts you back to lobby after every stage, this is annoying and wastes time for no reason - Mystery Cache achievement is evil and I hate it
I think as a horizontal investing account, you won’t have a problem since you have many characters, but you probably didn’t build the character that is require. So, that’s your real problem.
As a vertically investing dolphin, hard agree, but also: -i leveled up a xiangling to level 70 but didn't have to use her because i could use a friend's character, so why was I locked out until I leveled her up when supports are literally part of the mode? -why are the buffs all absolute dogwater? There's literally no point to using them, even if you're struggling -is there a reason players can offer supports of the wrong elements and they still show up even though you can't use them? Bc that's just evil. -i'm seconding the 4 members per team point because WHY All in all, quite disappointed. I don't even like the Abyss but at least I'm not literally LOCKED OUT of clearing it.

Initially I thought that splitting up the rewards for spiral abyss and making this “level 70” theatre allows players who prefers to horizontal invest in their characters (but can’t contend for spiral abyss rewards) to get a shot for primos grind. However, it becomes more apparent when it we start playing where we realise with multiple restrictions like that built in here. It seems like you both need to be vertically invested and somewhat well horizontal invested too. Which makes it hard for (what I thought will be fun for newer players). A little bit disappointing really so I hope that they will be more open to some changes to help improve this experience.
I wonder if they couldn't just do something like what Star Rail did for their Divergent Universe game mode. Temporarily raise levels of underleveled characters to the required minimum, give them temporary artifacts if they're not equipped in a slot. Nothing that would make them optional, but enough to be functional.
You can build level 1-70 in a flash, the mats is even less than half of doing lv 70-90 for 1 character. The problem is people spending 90% Resin and Fragile Resin for artifacts only and none of content creators can guide what to prepare for Theater assuming they know the leaks... I spend few Fragile Resin to basically level 70 everyone I have and it's fast. This temporary or trial character only valid if the requirement is level 80 but level 70 is just sacrificing 7 artifacts farming.
I am having a hard time seeing the reward for investment. All that trouble, all that time and work/effort to build all the required characters, and the reward is not even 5 pulls (after this first time where you get more primos). Who is this for? Newer players that need more characters don't get enough primos to get any from this and veteran players who have enough built characters get a few minutes of combat per month?
@@jasonbraza9517 hmm fr, just look at hsr, just over a year into release and they have 4 freaking modes and all 4 of them r good. This new genshin mode has too many flaws and plus it doesn't feel like A END GAME MODE, ITS MORE LIKE A EVENT. I can't imagine this is going to be our permanent game mode 😭😭😭
I agree with you in all aspects. People grind hard to get characters and level them all up for a dime of primos. I don’t even understand how you get to be the director of this theater but can’t “direct” how you want your play to be. Totally needs some major changes.
I think that being able to use 3 characters from friend list would be most welcome addition, since it promotes looking for more friends for "solo" players. Also, it helped that I was able to get Kuki back for 2 more vigor after using mystery cache. This could implemented as a standard stop-gap measure after clearing enough with for certain cost. Stay Jawsome!
hmm, and its just not about leveling the character, there r other things, weapons, talent books, AND MAIN THING IS FKING rng ARTIFACTS. If takes a very long time even to build 1 character, and they expect us to build 4 to 6 chaarcter suddenly up our asses, with bad artifact,, with bad weapons. AND THE WORST PART IS NEXT TIME THERE WILL BE ANOTHER 3 ELEMENTS.
I love this mode! Ive been playing for two years and only have been able to clear abyss 36* twice in that time. Then it got harder. But i was able to get all the rewards here! It felt challenging when i didnt have good teams left but it was fun
#1 tip is to prioritize picking the unit draft cards early instead of boons, that way you have way more leeway in choosing coherent teams and saving your big hitters for bosses. So many people complain about RNG and scuffed teams, yet if you looked at their run you'd see they refused to pick the draft card, thus causing their own problem.
@@justanotherguy3294 Bare minimum you will see 17/18 of your roster to full clear hard mode, ideally 18/18 if you prioritize picking draft card like you should. If you chose to bring so many unbuilt duds that you're relying on statistical impossibility to dodge them, then that is entirely on you.
Typical. This is not an endgame to create fun, but a very obvious way to make players spend more money. It's painfully obvious I'm scared they not gonna fix the problems in this gamemode.

The big thing here is the decrease in primos earned on Abyss, since it reset's monthly now, and Theater doesn't make up for it, not even on hard mode. Design wise, I can't complete hard mode. And this is fine by me. It's an END GAME mode, and it didn't even eliminated abyss (I'm at 33 stars at curent Abyss with half assed teams). If you can't complete now, keep playing till you can. Coul'd you complete Abyss since launch? No.
i have 0% faith that hoyo will listen to any suggestion. For fk sake, look at the artifact load out that they implemented , its been a while that they first introduced it into the game, DID THEY CHANGE ANYTHING OR LISTEN TO COMMUNITY , no they fking didn't, AND KEPT THAT AWFUL LOADOUT
I like the idea of encouraging horizontal investment but I do think this is too much. I didn't have a problem with it but I could see one in the future if they put geo or dendro as elements. The recommendations in the video are great, especially the one from each element one. One tip for anyone reading: if u have an unbuilt char that u need to bring bc of the character requirement, equip them with noblesse pieces (unless theyre an anemo unit) so that they can act as a pseudo support whenever they get their burst. Also another tip, I didnt try this myself but you can probably swap the traveler element if u need just one more char.
True, genshin exploration and combat have so much potential, yet those aspects seems neglected. Infact, the whole game is almost neglected, doing the bare minimum for each patch, rerunning events, no QoL, a 2nd endgame content after 4 years.

Been playing since November and managed for the first time in this abyss to 35* it. Mind you, my two main teams need some work; Arle, Kuki, Chev and Thoma Sige, Furina, Navia and Clorinde The only other dps I lvled is Neuvilette, I just love support characters. So it’s obvious that I can’t complete the Imaginarium Theater on hard, even when I lvled enough chars. It’s disappointing though I’m not gonna lvl like crazy for it, I will continue lvling according to my plan and on day I’ll be lucky!
Well there’s no way to fix people being inflexible to something like this. In exchange for being easier raw difficulty wise, it has other limitations to stop people from just using everything broken they want.
Hm, I wonder how this could be made better..maybe not making it required to have so many characters built at once and maybe focusing more on elemental reactions. Like you can only do one type of reaction and then you have to survive as long as possible with the enemies getting more and more difficult with time? The objective would depend on how long you can last rather than how fast you can clear
Honestly as a very new player I really enjoyed it even though I could only clear Easy mode. I was just glad for a new source of primos for more wishes.
i think another important thing is that the main cast is completely random, so if you invested in them already the free trial characters that are meant to reduce investment needed are useless, and then the supporting cast characters are left not invested
The game puts you back to the Lobby bcs you can interact with the characters you played the last round. They have various voicelines. I think this is neat. But hey, everyone has his opinion
One thing I did want to draw attention to was the fact that building the featured characters is weirdly bad/suboptimal. I am a Faruzan main and a Kuki enjoyer. I am currently locked out of hard mode only having 16 characters who meet the requirements to participate. If my efforts had been spent on Sucrose and Fischl instead I would not have this problem. Also, I can't even let someone borrow my built Faruzan since she is a featured character and thus is not eligible in the supporting cast selection section. Don't get me wrong I appreciate getting Madam Faruzan +20% for a month. It's just kind of silly there are multiple negatives to having built a featured character when I feel like it should be a moment of triumph without so many caveats.
This is just a "happy" event for players who have many built units. I, for one, am an Overload enjoyer so I have enough pyro/electro units in my acct to finish Hard Mode with 6 stars (got junked coz wrong unit picks so I didn't get a star in stage 8). I was happy. Even with just half a year of playtime, I finished it. The problem is, next month, I won't be happy anymore because the elem restriction will finally affect me. And the next month after, and so on... There's no gray area. Either you'll feel really unfair and disappointed, or you'll feel like you can conquer anything with your acct roster.
The purpose of the endgame that you already build your main team and you have 2 month to build another characters for endgame Because the event is 1 month And you know 1 month in advance before which type of characters you need I don’t know why is issue
Because it takes around 1 month to build 1 character to a decent amount. Or maybe you have horrible luck in the gatcha and literally do not have enough characters. Not to mention how most characters are designed with a single reaction in mind that we will most likely not be able to use.
So this is the perfect gamemode to those of us who didnt heed all the guides that told you to only build two teams focusing on two main dps with supports. My indecision and adhd is actually paying off. I just started in April and already cleared normal mode. I only need to build 4 more characters to do hard mode. Working on fichl, thoma, and sucrose already. I actually thrived in this gamemode since i enjoy working with random teams. No i havent gotten past 11-1 in abyss, but yes i loved imaginarium theatre. Abyss is annoying and just a dps check. The theatre is actually fun and the randomness makes you have to be imaginative and creative. So it rewards players who know how to adapt to their circumstances. Basically, if you're a 36 star abyss meta slave, you'll probably hate this mode. If you actually like playing different characters and making non meta teams, this gamemode is for you.
Sorry to burst your bubble but if u can't even clear abyss 11:1 than forget about clearing the new game mode in hard mode the enemy level scales to abyss floor 12😅

personally i like this change, i am relatively new to the game but i always wanted to build lots of characters and now i finally have an excuse to. i don’t LOVE it, and i personally don’t like the elemental restriction nor the amount of characters you need, because i can’t even do hard mode. but i like building characters
A problem I often found myself in was having way too many on-fielder type characters for my teams. Imaginarium Theater makes characters like Albedo and Chiori appealing as they can actually do something as opposed to my Diluc, Klee, Arlecchino, Wanderer team. There's only one Bennet, Xiangling, Fischl, Yae (great value here!) so off-fielders are the way to go in this mode.
I give up with Imaginarium Theatre.. 1) Nobody told me that I can't change character builds after starting 2)...Thats all... 3) It's good its easier than spiral abyss ... But i lose 940 primos...
I fully cleared 12 floor of the abyss with 36 stars. I had to try this mode 20+ times and finally cleared chpater 8 it with 4 stars total. This felt harder than abyss. I had to use Xiao/Arlecchino/Dheya/Lisa to beat the last boss. This was not a fun experience whatsoever. This restrictions are too much.

Also, for people who say that it's a waste building characters for this - there are only seven elements in this game. That means that you will be able to play the same characters over and over again. So investing in some of them will is definitely not a waste, imo.
I love this as well. I'm AR57 f2p. It really seems like it's a case of horizontal investment players loving it while people who invest more vertically are told they need more characters.
I respectfully disagree: for instance I'm not particularly interested in Geo or Pyro, I only have my Bennet and Xiangling levelled up and until now they were all I needed for my Pyro elemental checks in the Abyss or for Vape/Melt team comps. About Geo: who needs it? Yet now Imaginarium Theater comes in and it basically kinda tells me I should level up my Gaming, Yanfei, my Noelle, my Gorou and get more Geo characters for the future, it tells me to spread out my resources even more. I'm fine with endorsing some horizontal investment for the sake of diversity but this is way too much.
@@Exacerberus To be honest, I don't think this was made for people who 36* the abyss regularly. Whether that's good or bad is up to each person to decide, but I'd guess this is more for their casual and semi-casual audience. You referenced the elemental checks in the abyss, but a majority of the player base don't actually touch the abyss. This is a primo increase for most people even on easy mode as long as it gets some modest participation. Considering that it's (at least so far) easy enough that you don't need cracked artifacts or maxed talents, I don't think this "is way too much."
@@Exacerberus hi, i am in the same situation as you, i only have bennett and xiangling leveled up as my pyro characters. but i have a lot of anemo and electro chara leveled up so i was able to pull through. for reference, anemo i used : kazuha, xianyun, sucrose, jean, faruzan and anemo traveler. electro i used : raiden, sara, fischl, beidou and kuki + special guest : baizhu i didn't have dedicated 5* dps but my support chara were well built so they supported well the trial dps they gave us. so i think you are fine as long as you are willing to invest in some 4* supports, they are worth it imo. about geo characters, i have none leveled up on my account and don't plan to do so. i think for future geo iteration of imaginarium theater, it will be okay because they will give us 2 trial geo chara and you can also use geo traveler + special guest + borrow from friend. you just have to stack chara of other elements, 5-6 from the other two elements should be enough, so i think it's still manageable.
I mean I think the execcution is pretty poor but I dont dislike them making this prefer horizontal investment while abyss prefers vertical pushing us to a new way to build accounts (well for players who haven't been playing since version 1). Frankly in my opinion almost all your possible solutions are way too extreme. I probably am biased as I have soo many characters built that I didnt even use any friends characters or the special other element ones. And did it first try without trouble
The new mode seems to be a way to drive sales. This will obviously make players feel like they need to purchase more characters and weapons. The real problem is that the resin system is insufficient for building multiple characters. Genshin Impact will need to fix the resin issue before players so players will feel they can actually play with a new character or weapon when they purchase it. Who wants to spend money on something that they can't use for a month or so? They could make resin easy to purchase in the store as part of the solution.
Terrible i hate it. They lowered the reward on Spiral Abyss from 1200 a month to 400 gems. This new mode gives 1100. So 1500 gems a month which is 300 more gems prior to the update. I wish they didn't slashed the spiral abyss rewards and just put 300 gems on the new theatre. So that I can't be bothered with this new awful content and choose not to do it. Now i am forced to do this new theater because 1100 gems are on it smh...
The element restriction should increase to 4. I kinda like the idea of element restriction but I think three is a bit much. Also it should allow you to invite your rosters as special guest, only one element each. Conceptually, I can see myself enjoying it but the restrictions kinda turned it off for me. Especially each seasons will rotate elements out that can screw up some accounts.

@RoxasLikesIceCream it's because people who complain are louder than people who enjoy things. I personally loved it! I've only done normal mode because I need 4 more characters for hard, but I just started in April. I'm not stressed about not being able to 36 star or get everything as it releases. People are so afraid of not getting all the rewards they become unreasonable. What about all the primos I missed out on before 4.5? Should I cry about those too? As long as you have fun, who cares if you can't beat everything?
My only gripe is that you should just be able to pick 1 character that these elemental rules don’t have to apply and you always start with that character in your starting cast. That would make replay value a lot higher since you can always start with your favorite or have a strategy revolving around that specific character. It feels bad not being able to play as your favorite character in an end game mode and having to wait months just to have the opportunity to do so.
The first one worked out so well for me so well since I have alot of Pyro characters, and less, but still a decent bit of Anemo and Electro I feel like abyss is for players who do vertical investment, and theater is for horizontal investment
I like Imaginarium Thester. The purpose is to use characters‘ kit differently than in Spiral Abyss. For example, sometimes I had to play DPS Venti with C6 Faruzan. Even though I like it, it could still be improved. For example, we should be able to change the artefacts/weapons on the characters after some „stages“ played. Jsut to distinguish the role we play (Kuki Hyperbloom with FOPL or Kuki in Aggrevate with Gilded Dreams)
Totally agree. You proposed nice changes! That's my case btw. I can clear 33 stars in the Abyss. But I'm lacking 3 characters for hard mode theater... So sad I can't even get a chance at playing it.
I fully agree with these points. I just started playing in March, I play every day and I am AR 55 and clear spiral abyss. I have pulled on every banner since I've started playing, (at least getting 1 5 star every banner, my wallet hurts) yet it is impossible for me to participate in the event other than easy mode. It isn't fair, there was literally nothing I could do about it unless I played way longer. Really hoping (but I doubt they will) that they will change the Theater to be less restrictive.
I just realized that I can’t do anything past act 3 because I don’t have enough characters leveled up. I need 2 more just to get to the medium difficulty, is it worth it? Feels like a trap 😭
It was definitely rough. Been playing for just under a year (started in 3.8) and I only build/use medium and tall female characters on my main. And out of all of the initial characters, I only had Arlecchino. And for kicks, I borrowed a poorly geared Segwinne from an alt account (instead of a built Kazhua or Bennett that I had on an alt, since that would have been a good idea). Running no-so-great lvl 12-16 artifacts on lvl 80 characters on top of those poorly built trial characters made things painful. I still was able to fully clear hard mode without too many issues (using all but 1 of my lvl 70+ available characters), but I was only able to get 5/8 of those flower star things. And to compare, 36* in the abyss has been a faceroll for the past 6 months for me (and that is including this most recent abyss, but it was the hardest one). If I can improve my playing a little an get slightly luckier with the characters/buffs then I might be able to get 8/8. But yeah, long story short, this isn't going to be kind to newer, more casual, or less skilled players. Definitely is an "end-game" mode, since you have to have played the game for a while (or be insanely lucky with artifacts and wishes on good banners) to stand a chance at clearing it. Also, they seriously need to remove the 4 members per team requirement. I had to intentionally burn characters just to be able to play a level, even when I could have easily cleared it with 2-3 characters.
Just let me tell you this: 30+ characters built and lvl90. 2 c6 5 stars, approx 15? C6 4stars. You can barely play optimal teams after 3 years of playing and spending approx 4k. I don't regret spending much money on videogames, I regret spending it on this one. With every update more and more. Card games, now pokemon copy is coming up. And the QoL changes are a joke. Too bad WuW is not console
If you can do floor 11 of the abyss you can also do IT on medium difficulty, period. Taking characters from scratch to level 60 or 70 is done in a cinch and assuming you have say 2 or 3 characters of the matching elements that are actually well invested in you will get there by relying on them. I could see hardmode requiring 18 characters being too prohibitive perhaps but not medium by any means.
You are simply wrong. If you are the type of person to waste all your resources on a shiny new character, you can beat imaginarium theatre on normal difficulty. I can beat floor 11 with the only issue being the monolith challenge, but I literally don't have enough characters from each element built. I literally only own 2 usable anemo supports and have only 1 built electro and pyro character. This has nothing to do with skill. This gamemode is a gatcha check and actively punishes players for being careful with their resources.
@@Argenta_Rosa You've made my point for me, if tunnelvisioning on a single character is what procludes someone from beating medium difficulty they didn't get the memo. They didn't get any of the many memos the game gives you to diversify your roster in fact. IT has changed the status quo on how you're supposed to run your account and we knew it was going to for more than a month, ample time to get your Lisas, Heizous and Yanfeis to 60 and delegate your middle of the road leftover artifacts to them. If you can't make it to 14 for lack of element appropriate units on your account you can not be playing for more than a handful months and shouldn't be worrying about this soft end game content to begin with. You wouldn't be able to clear even if you gained entry in all likelihood.
I started playing in the final week of Furina's first run. I went all in on Yoimiya/Raiden/Chevruese teams. Managed to clear 7 but ran out of built characters and couldn't even get a quarter of the way through the dancer's hp. Had there been any other combination of element restrictions, I would not have even been allowed to attempt.
Having not even played through the theatre yet, my main complaint is that the monthly buffs impact characters in the overworld. Not only does this make it difficult to improve/build characters because you don't know how the improvements are ACtually affecting them, it's also going to be really frustrating when that buff is removed and suddenly my characters are performing worse. God forbid I try to build a new team composition while someone is buffed from the theatre and then find the composition is worthless without the buff. I really want a way to toggle this overworld effect off.
I think if they had trial characters of the guest stars it would help a lot. I actually like the theater. I’ve been playing for 6 months but I’m also not F2P and I have at least a few decent builds. The elemental restrictions make it pretty tough bc I only have one pyro DPS built, Arle. Thank god I have a friend with a cracked out Wriothesley or I wouldn’t have been able to clear hard mode.
Me who used 6 built characters, all the trial characters except Arlecchino, and the rest of the characters I used (7 characters) were fillers with no artifacts. (On hard mode)
this is the first time the game told me to build so many character, i played for almost 2 years now, and only have 12 chars built, but lucky me because im a somewhat old player i could raise them easier because i already got the mats etc
Theater is fun, not too difficult. Sadly the boons are basically useless and you can complete it without them. The second part is.. 18 characters is A LOT to ask. I've been playing for 1 year and could consitently 36star since month 3. And I can't even play Hard mode here lol. What a disappointment.
as a f2p, who can't even 4 star Floor 12 of Abyss I was feeling indifferent about it, not until my mora dropped from 5M to 309 from building characters, so annoying
imagine if the endgame is, Elemental is specific (only 2 random element) then you only need 2 characters, once you start the game you'll start as lvl 1 without artifacts and random 2 character will be selected (with the specific element) and it'll be rougelike with stages where there's a room you'll enter, it maybe a reward room, elite enemies room, power up room, until you beat upto floor 20 (where floor 10 will give you another character that's not random and floor 20 is the 4th character of your choice and all of the character is from your own character you have) so even old and new players that beat the current content can enjoy the game, make it once a week with less reward..
I regret starting the theatre without thinking twice about it sooo much. I also chose normal mode and just filled the slots with all the characters who fitted the three elements and thought I might as well just level them up in between BUT YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT. So to players who haven't tried it out yet: Build your characters first and THEN click on the book to start because there's no way back. I now have to wait for the next theatre update and it's so annoying because I miss out so many primos and other rewards for this theatre season.
Just finish all acts and then you can restart the entire theatre. They complicate things unnecessarily so I understand that ppl don't take the time to read. I didn't read it either
You actually can. I only reached Act 7 on my first attempt, and I can't defeat Coppelius anymore since I already used up my good characters. So I exited the stage. Upon interacting with the book once again, there is a tab on the left side, and in one of those tabs, there is an option to [End Performance] which will allow you to restart the theater from the first act. I hope this helps~
Any one change to make it less harsh will make the mode more well received, espcially players are new to this mode and lack of experience is a huge handicap, I would want 1 more element than the 3 limited elements.

I am happy with the elemental restriction. And I am also happy with the idea of making geo one of the restricted elements. What would ACTUALLY suck right now would be if HYDRO were a restricted element, given that of the 13 hydro characters, only 3 of them are 4* and 1 of them is Hydro Traveller, so they likelihood of having enough hydro characters is lower than with other elements due to how top-heavy it is. But incentivising and rewarding players for building niche characters like Yun Jin?? Yes please! My level 90 c6 r5 Fav Lance with 4p Husk and 2600 def without Husk stacks Yun Jin finally getting to shine sounds like a dream come true, so I can't wait for geo to be featured.
playing almost two years, with 30+ characters built (24 at Lv90), I couldn't do the highest level, but I knew I could. Given how bad drop rates are, it is near impossible for even a seasoned player to build characters at the rate and quality IT needs. If i could fix anything, it'd be exactly what you mentioned: vigor, number of characters, number of friend characters, ect. If I had to sum up It in one word, it'd use 'infuriating'.
I think it bounces from being an unfair gacha trap to being a mindless cakewalk depending on what type of account you have and there's nowhere in between

A) allowed you to bring characters that aren't level 70 yet, or
B) allowed you to run teams with less than 4 characters
I feel like a lot of times you end up in situations where you know you can clear in time with just 3 units and you're wasting a 4th possibly good one just because the game won't let you.
If you could just run less or fill that spot with a level 20 amber on full noblesse or something it would be much better

This is basically a way for them to reduce F2P rewards without saying they're reducing F2P rewards. For most F2P players, even if you have enough characters for one cycle, you'll likely not for another cycle with different elements (for example, cryo/geo). Even for this hell of an abyss cycle, my C1 xiangling and C2 xingqiu on fontaine fishing pipe still got me the full clear after many attempts, but for a theater cycle I don't have units for, I can't do anything except sit and watch the primos disappear into thin air.
When selecting units to level just for the theater, try to use units that can get away with no talent damage and just stack EM, which also means you can get away with a low level weapon and/or 3 star statsticks with low base atk. Lvl 1 fav weapon + crit rate circlet can make a character usable. Prioritize characters with any off-field presence since you get a lot of trial DPS characters.
If on the other hand this game mode has been too easy for you, try getting the "fate's unpredictable favor" achievement, guaranteed to drive you crazy
Pretty much.... Genshin Impact needs to pay its developers, voice actors, and even a godforsaken symphony orchestra! The real "game mode" is profit. And, Imaginarium Theater is just another way to sell characters, weapons, and level-up materials. The only problem I see is newer players will be *less likely* to spend, because winning Imaginarium Theater is so far into the future.... Why even bother, when a newer player can just explore Fontaine, and Natlan, instead?

I don't believe they'll do a season where there's Elements that don't have reactions with each other. A huge aspect of this thing is having challenges to cause those reactions.

at this point of the game, mihoyo should really start giving away 4 stars character more easily, most of them are only viable at c4 or c6 and its easier to have a 5 star than a c6 4 star, and dont talk about the big number of players who miss a lot of those 4 stars
for me the biggest issue of the game are the artifact farming (some improves but still a pain) and the lack of 4 stars characters. (im glad that i pulled on specific banners for the 4 stars, but back in the day this idea was completly hated, imaging not having a bennet or xinqui today)

much restriction. When I needed kazuha, they gave me hu Tao as an expansion of the principal cast. It forced me to play with Clorinde, arlecchino and wanderer in the same team. Without hydro, Hu Tao's solo damage is pretty low. I cannot play with XQ due to restrictions. Some stahes are super easy. We xan do it when with solo but they are forcing is to use a full team casing wastage of vigor. Difficulty is not an issue for this end game, stupid restrictions is the main culprit.
I agree. When we have to invest to so many characters for this and we can use them only twice, we should at least have possibility to choose whatever character from roster we want, not what game decides to give us
Same here; I used trial wanderer (never used him before…), Chlorinde and Arlecchino in 1-6 and now I am stuck in Act 7 with Wrio and mostly Anemo supports like Sucrose, Lynette, Jean and Xianyun….so annoying, I don’t want to start again
A small but painful for newer players part of the restrictions is that if you have a Principal Cast character that's not built better than their trial, then that character becomes effectively worthless.
I have my Arlecchino at a power level very similar to the trial, which means that if I had built literally any other Pyro DPS, I would have an extra character at basically no loss, which is, in a sense, a really stupid way to punish people who have pulled the Principal Cast characters, but haven't built them extremely well yet.
An easy way to fix it while also partly addressing some of the issues mentioned in the video would be to increase the Vigor to 4 for Principal Cast characters that you already own and have at the required level.
I just got Alhaitham and Clorinde a few weeks ago and of couse they are playable! They are not strong at the moment.
+ My arlecchino is in a similar situation.
We are getting 6 trial characters how amazing! But I built 3 of them! And I don't have enough for hard mode🤣
The other problem I'm having even as someone who leans horizontal investment, is that you have to use the featured characters, and they are like "oh it's cool we'll give you these lvl 80 trial characters if you don't have them so nbd". But they also don't actually let you practice with those characters, so if you have no idea how to play chlorinde, arllechino, faruzan, wanderer, you are basically just button smashing.
I'm also on mobile so the learning curve or ability to use certain characters you are unfamiliar with or those that use a bow is extra high. So I have enough characters to technically do hard mode, but since 5 of the 6 featured characters are not ones I ever have played that I'm forced to use in the early stages.... barely cleared normal. :(

It baffles me that the game has 7 elements and some of y'all straight up deliberately avoid building characters of certain elements. I figured on day 1 that every element matters so I built at least 3 characters of each element.
As a horizontally investing dolphin my main issues were:
- HAS TO USE FULL 4 CHARACTER TEAM, this is dumb and stupid and dumb and I hate it
- game puts you back to lobby after every stage, this is annoying and wastes time for no reason
- Mystery Cache achievement is evil and I hate it
I think as a horizontal investing account, you won’t have a problem since you have many characters, but you probably didn’t build the character that is require. So, that’s your real problem.
As a vertically investing dolphin, hard agree, but also:
-i leveled up a xiangling to level 70 but didn't have to use her because i could use a friend's character, so why was I locked out until I leveled her up when supports are literally part of the mode?
-why are the buffs all absolute dogwater? There's literally no point to using them, even if you're struggling
-is there a reason players can offer supports of the wrong elements and they still show up even though you can't use them? Bc that's just evil.
-i'm seconding the 4 members per team point because WHY
All in all, quite disappointed. I don't even like the Abyss but at least I'm not literally LOCKED OUT of clearing it.

Initially I thought that splitting up the rewards for spiral abyss and making this “level 70” theatre allows players who prefers to horizontal invest in their characters (but can’t contend for spiral abyss rewards) to get a shot for primos grind. However, it becomes more apparent when it we start playing where we realise with multiple restrictions like that built in here. It seems like you both need to be vertically invested and somewhat well horizontal invested too. Which makes it hard for (what I thought will be fun for newer players). A little bit disappointing really so I hope that they will be more open to some changes to help improve this experience.
I wonder if they couldn't just do something like what Star Rail did for their Divergent Universe game mode. Temporarily raise levels of underleveled characters to the required minimum, give them temporary artifacts if they're not equipped in a slot. Nothing that would make them optional, but enough to be functional.
You can build level 1-70 in a flash, the mats is even less than half of doing lv 70-90 for 1 character. The problem is people spending 90% Resin and Fragile Resin for artifacts only and none of content creators can guide what to prepare for Theater assuming they know the leaks...
I spend few Fragile Resin to basically level 70 everyone I have and it's fast. This temporary or trial character only valid if the requirement is level 80 but level 70 is just sacrificing 7 artifacts farming.

I am having a hard time seeing the reward for investment. All that trouble, all that time and work/effort to build all the required characters, and the reward is not even 5 pulls (after this first time where you get more primos). Who is this for? Newer players that need more characters don't get enough primos to get any from this and veteran players who have enough built characters get a few minutes of combat per month?
I thought this would be a Simulated Universe of Genshin Impact but I ended up getting disappointed.

I agree with you in all aspects. People grind hard to get characters and level them all up for a dime of primos. I don’t even understand how you get to be the director of this theater but can’t “direct” how you want your play to be. Totally needs some major changes.
I think that being able to use 3 characters from friend list would be most welcome addition, since it promotes looking for more friends for "solo" players.
Also, it helped that I was able to get Kuki back for 2 more vigor after using mystery cache. This could implemented as a standard stop-gap measure after clearing enough with for certain cost.

The thing about imaginary theater is that it goes from too easy to Impossible because of the 18 characters that need to be level 70
hmm, and its just not about leveling the character, there r other things, weapons, talent books, AND MAIN THING IS FKING rng ARTIFACTS.
If takes a very long time even to build 1 character, and they expect us to build 4 to 6 chaarcter suddenly up our asses, with bad artifact,, with bad weapons. AND THE WORST PART IS NEXT TIME THERE WILL BE ANOTHER 3 ELEMENTS.
I love this mode! Ive been playing for two years and only have been able to clear abyss 36* twice in that time. Then it got harder. But i was able to get all the rewards here! It felt challenging when i didnt have good teams left but it was fun

#1 tip is to prioritize picking the unit draft cards early instead of boons, that way you have way more leeway in choosing coherent teams and saving your big hitters for bosses.
So many people complain about RNG and scuffed teams, yet if you looked at their run you'd see they refused to pick the draft card, thus causing their own problem.
LMAO! what's the point of draft cards when you don't have enough decent characters to choose from?

The big thing here is the decrease in primos earned on Abyss, since it reset's monthly now, and Theater doesn't make up for it, not even on hard mode.
Design wise, I can't complete hard mode. And this is fine by me. It's an END GAME mode, and it didn't even eliminated abyss (I'm at 33 stars at curent Abyss with half assed teams). If you can't complete now, keep playing till you can. Coul'd you complete Abyss since launch? No.

I like the idea of encouraging horizontal investment but I do think this is too much. I didn't have a problem with it but I could see one in the future if they put geo or dendro as elements. The recommendations in the video are great, especially the one from each element one. One tip for anyone reading: if u have an unbuilt char that u need to bring bc of the character requirement, equip them with noblesse pieces (unless theyre an anemo unit) so that they can act as a pseudo support whenever they get their burst. Also another tip, I didnt try this myself but you can probably swap the traveler element if u need just one more char.

The only other dps I lvled is Neuvilette, I just love support characters.
So it’s obvious that I can’t complete the Imaginarium Theater on hard, even when I lvled enough chars. It’s disappointing though I’m not gonna lvl like crazy for it, I will continue lvling according to my plan and on day I’ll be lucky!
Oh update I swapped Kuki with Raiden and Navia with Charlotte (with Thrilling Tales ofc) and I 36* it after a couple of runs.

Well there’s no way to fix people being inflexible to something like this. In exchange for being easier raw difficulty wise, it has other limitations to stop people from just using everything broken they want.
Hm, I wonder how this could be made better..maybe not making it required to have so many characters built at once and maybe focusing more on elemental reactions. Like you can only do one type of reaction and then you have to survive as long as possible with the enemies getting more and more difficult with time? The objective would depend on how long you can last rather than how fast you can clear
The only "problem" is that it resets once a month and has very little rewards
Honestly as a very new player I really enjoyed it even though I could only clear Easy mode. I was just glad for a new source of primos for more wishes.

Trial character might not even help with the restrictions if you own some of them.
This is great for me as I have built a wide range of units and I’m finally getting rewarded for it
i think another important thing is that the main cast is completely random, so if you invested in them already the free trial characters that are meant to reduce investment needed are useless, and then the supporting cast characters are left not invested
The game puts you back to the Lobby bcs you can interact with the characters you played the last round. They have various voicelines. I think this is neat. But hey, everyone has his opinion

I started playing since launch, and it STILL wasn't easy for me. I simply don't have the time nor resources to pull and build so many characters.
One thing I did want to draw attention to was the fact that building the featured characters is weirdly bad/suboptimal. I am a Faruzan main and a Kuki enjoyer. I am currently locked out of hard mode only having 16 characters who meet the requirements to participate. If my efforts had been spent on Sucrose and Fischl instead I would not have this problem. Also, I can't even let someone borrow my built Faruzan since she is a featured character and thus is not eligible in the supporting cast selection section.
Don't get me wrong I appreciate getting Madam Faruzan +20% for a month. It's just kind of silly there are multiple negatives to having built a featured character when I feel like it should be a moment of triumph without so many caveats.
This is just a "happy" event for players who have many built units. I, for one, am an Overload enjoyer so I have enough pyro/electro units in my acct to finish Hard Mode with 6 stars (got junked coz wrong unit picks so I didn't get a star in stage 8). I was happy. Even with just half a year of playtime, I finished it.
The problem is, next month, I won't be happy anymore because the elem restriction will finally affect me. And the next month after, and so on...
There's no gray area. Either you'll feel really unfair and disappointed, or you'll feel like you can conquer anything with your acct roster.
The purpose of the endgame that you already build your main team and you have 2 month to build another characters for endgame

So this is the perfect gamemode to those of us who didnt heed all the guides that told you to only build two teams focusing on two main dps with supports.
My indecision and adhd is actually paying off.
I just started in April and already cleared normal mode. I only need to build 4 more characters to do hard mode. Working on fichl, thoma, and sucrose already.
I actually thrived in this gamemode since i enjoy working with random teams. No i havent gotten past 11-1 in abyss, but yes i loved imaginarium theatre. Abyss is annoying and just a dps check. The theatre is actually fun and the randomness makes you have to be imaginative and creative.
So it rewards players who know how to adapt to their circumstances.
Basically, if you're a 36 star abyss meta slave, you'll probably hate this mode.
If you actually like playing different characters and making non meta teams, this gamemode is for you.
Sorry to burst your bubble but if u can't even clear abyss 11:1 than forget about clearing the new game mode in hard mode the enemy level scales to abyss floor 12😅

personally i like this change, i am relatively new to the game but i always wanted to build lots of characters and now i finally have an excuse to. i don’t LOVE it, and i personally don’t like the elemental restriction nor the amount of characters you need, because i can’t even do hard mode. but i like building characters

A problem I often found myself in was having way too many on-fielder type characters for my teams. Imaginarium Theater makes characters like Albedo and Chiori appealing as they can actually do something as opposed to my Diluc, Klee, Arlecchino, Wanderer team. There's only one Bennet, Xiangling, Fischl, Yae (great value here!) so off-fielders are the way to go in this mode.
I give up with Imaginarium Theatre..

3) It's good its easier than spiral abyss ... But i lose 940 primos...
I fully cleared 12 floor of the abyss with 36 stars. I had to try this mode 20+ times and finally cleared chpater 8 it with 4 stars total. This felt harder than abyss. I had to use Xiao/Arlecchino/Dheya/Lisa to beat the last boss. This was not a fun experience whatsoever. This restrictions are too much.

I'm AR60 and have been playing for more than two years. I've 27 characters build and only 10 of them are exclusive 5*. I'm also f2p and I do love this new mode.
Also, for people who say that it's a waste building characters for this - there are only seven elements in this game. That means that you will be able to play the same characters over and over again. So investing in some of them will is definitely not a waste, imo.
I love this as well. I'm AR57 f2p. It really seems like it's a case of horizontal investment players loving it while people who invest more vertically are told they need more characters.
I respectfully disagree: for instance I'm not particularly interested in Geo or Pyro, I only have my Bennet and Xiangling levelled up and until now they were all I needed for my Pyro elemental checks in the Abyss or for Vape/Melt team comps. About Geo: who needs it?
Yet now Imaginarium Theater comes in and it basically kinda tells me I should level up my Gaming, Yanfei, my Noelle, my Gorou and get more Geo characters for the future, it tells me to spread out my resources even more.
I'm fine with endorsing some horizontal investment for the sake of diversity but this is way too much.
@@Exacerberus To be honest, I don't think this was made for people who 36* the abyss regularly. Whether that's good or bad is up to each person to decide, but I'd guess this is more for their casual and semi-casual audience. You referenced the elemental checks in the abyss, but a majority of the player base don't actually touch the abyss. This is a primo increase for most people even on easy mode as long as it gets some modest participation. Considering that it's (at least so far) easy enough that you don't need cracked artifacts or maxed talents, I don't think this "is way too much."
@@Exacerberus hi, i am in the same situation as you, i only have bennett and xiangling leveled up as my pyro characters.
but i have a lot of anemo and electro chara leveled up so i was able to pull through.
for reference, anemo i used : kazuha, xianyun, sucrose, jean, faruzan and anemo traveler.
electro i used : raiden, sara, fischl, beidou and kuki
+ special guest : baizhu
i didn't have dedicated 5* dps but my support chara were well built so they supported well the trial dps they gave us.
so i think you are fine as long as you are willing to invest in some 4* supports, they are worth it imo.
about geo characters, i have none leveled up on my account and don't plan to do so.
i think for future geo iteration of imaginarium theater, it will be okay because they will give us 2 trial geo chara and you can also use geo traveler + special guest + borrow from friend. you just have to stack chara of other elements, 5-6 from the other two elements should be enough, so i think it's still manageable.
Good idea traveler value and geo traveler is my favorite.
I mean I think the execcution is pretty poor but I dont dislike them making this prefer horizontal investment while abyss prefers vertical pushing us to a new way to build accounts (well for players who haven't been playing since version 1). Frankly in my opinion almost all your possible solutions are way too extreme. I probably am biased as I have soo many characters built that I didnt even use any friends characters or the special other element ones. And did it first try without trouble
The new mode seems to be a way to drive sales. This will obviously make players feel like they need to purchase more characters and weapons. The real problem is that the resin system is insufficient for building multiple characters. Genshin Impact will need to fix the resin issue before players so players will feel they can actually play with a new character or weapon when they purchase it. Who wants to spend money on something that they can't use for a month or so? They could make resin easy to purchase in the store as part of the solution.
Terrible i hate it. They lowered the reward on Spiral Abyss from 1200 a month to 400 gems. This new mode gives 1100. So 1500 gems a month which is 300 more gems prior to the update. I wish they didn't slashed the spiral abyss rewards and just put 300 gems on the new theatre. So that I can't be bothered with this new awful content and choose not to do it. Now i am forced to do this new theater because 1100 gems are on it smh...
The element restriction should increase to 4. I kinda like the idea of element restriction but I think three is a bit much. Also it should allow you to invite your rosters as special guest, only one element each.
Conceptually, I can see myself enjoying it but the restrictions kinda turned it off for me. Especially each seasons will rotate elements out that can screw up some accounts.
- Cant even attempt hard mode if you dont have 12 characters build level 70+ of specific elements
- you can only use a character 2 times
- you have to play full team (4 character)
- character you get in different stage are random

@RoxasLikesIceCream it's because people who complain are louder than people who enjoy things. I personally loved it! I've only done normal mode because I need 4 more characters for hard, but I just started in April. I'm not stressed about not being able to 36 star or get everything as it releases.
People are so afraid of not getting all the rewards they become unreasonable. What about all the primos I missed out on before 4.5? Should I cry about those too?

My only gripe is that you should just be able to pick 1 character that these elemental rules don’t have to apply and you always start with that character in your starting cast. That would make replay value a lot higher since you can always start with your favorite or have a strategy revolving around that specific character. It feels bad not being able to play as your favorite character in an end game mode and having to wait months just to have the opportunity to do so.
The first one worked out so well for me so well since I have alot of Pyro characters, and less, but still a decent bit of Anemo and Electro
I feel like abyss is for players who do vertical investment, and theater is for horizontal investment
I like Imaginarium Thester. The purpose is to use characters‘ kit differently than in Spiral Abyss. For example, sometimes I had to play DPS Venti with C6 Faruzan.
Even though I like it, it could still be improved. For example, we should be able to change the artefacts/weapons on the characters after some „stages“ played. Jsut to distinguish the role we play (Kuki Hyperbloom with FOPL or Kuki in Aggrevate with Gilded Dreams)

That's my case btw. I can clear 33 stars in the Abyss. But I'm lacking 3 characters for hard mode theater... So sad I can't even get a chance at playing it.
I fully agree with these points. I just started playing in March, I play every day and I am AR 55 and clear spiral abyss. I have pulled on every banner since I've started playing, (at least getting 1 5 star every banner, my wallet hurts) yet it is impossible for me to participate in the event other than easy mode. It isn't fair, there was literally nothing I could do about it unless I played way longer. Really hoping (but I doubt they will) that they will change the Theater to be less restrictive.
I just realized that I can’t do anything past act 3 because I don’t have enough characters leveled up. I need 2 more just to get to the medium difficulty, is it worth it? Feels like a trap 😭

the funniest part of this video is the background playing showing just how annoying the Imaginarium Theater is-
It was definitely rough. Been playing for just under a year (started in 3.8) and I only build/use medium and tall female characters on my main. And out of all of the initial characters, I only had Arlecchino. And for kicks, I borrowed a poorly geared Segwinne from an alt account (instead of a built Kazhua or Bennett that I had on an alt, since that would have been a good idea). Running no-so-great lvl 12-16 artifacts on lvl 80 characters on top of those poorly built trial characters made things painful. I still was able to fully clear hard mode without too many issues (using all but 1 of my lvl 70+ available characters), but I was only able to get 5/8 of those flower star things. And to compare, 36* in the abyss has been a faceroll for the past 6 months for me (and that is including this most recent abyss, but it was the hardest one). If I can improve my playing a little an get slightly luckier with the characters/buffs then I might be able to get 8/8.
But yeah, long story short, this isn't going to be kind to newer, more casual, or less skilled players. Definitely is an "end-game" mode, since you have to have played the game for a while (or be insanely lucky with artifacts and wishes on good banners) to stand a chance at clearing it.
Also, they seriously need to remove the 4 members per team requirement. I had to intentionally burn characters just to be able to play a level, even when I could have easily cleared it with 2-3 characters.
Just let me tell you this: 30+ characters built and lvl90. 2 c6 5 stars, approx 15? C6 4stars. You can barely play optimal teams after 3 years of playing and spending approx 4k. I don't regret spending much money on videogames, I regret spending it on this one. With every update more and more. Card games, now pokemon copy is coming up. And the QoL changes are a joke. Too bad WuW is not console
If you can do floor 11 of the abyss you can also do IT on medium difficulty, period.
Taking characters from scratch to level 60 or 70 is done in a cinch and assuming you have say 2 or 3 characters of the matching elements that are actually well invested in you will get there by relying on them.
I could see hardmode requiring 18 characters being too prohibitive perhaps but not medium by any means.

I can beat floor 11 with the only issue being the monolith challenge, but I literally don't have enough characters from each element built.
I literally only own 2 usable anemo supports and have only 1 built electro and pyro character.
This has nothing to do with skill. This gamemode is a gatcha check and actively punishes players for being careful with their resources.

They didn't get any of the many memos the game gives you to diversify your roster in fact.
IT has changed the status quo on how you're supposed to run your account and we knew it was going to for more than a month, ample time to get your Lisas, Heizous and Yanfeis to 60 and delegate your middle of the road leftover artifacts to them.
If you can't make it to 14 for lack of element appropriate units on your account you can not be playing for more than a handful months and shouldn't be worrying about this soft end game content to begin with. You wouldn't be able to clear even if you gained entry in all likelihood.

I started playing in the final week of Furina's first run. I went all in on Yoimiya/Raiden/Chevruese teams. Managed to clear 7 but ran out of built characters and couldn't even get a quarter of the way through the dancer's hp. Had there been any other combination of element restrictions, I would not have even been allowed to attempt.
Having not even played through the theatre yet, my main complaint is that the monthly buffs impact characters in the overworld. Not only does this make it difficult to improve/build characters because you don't know how the improvements are ACtually affecting them, it's also going to be really frustrating when that buff is removed and suddenly my characters are performing worse. God forbid I try to build a new team composition while someone is buffed from the theatre and then find the composition is worthless without the buff. I really want a way to toggle this overworld effect off.

I think if they had trial characters of the guest stars it would help a lot. I actually like the theater. I’ve been playing for 6 months but I’m also not F2P and I have at least a few decent builds. The elemental restrictions make it pretty tough bc I only have one pyro DPS built, Arle. Thank god I have a friend with a cracked out Wriothesley or I wouldn’t have been able to clear hard mode.

Theater is fun, not too difficult. Sadly the boons are basically useless and you can complete it without them. The second part is.. 18 characters is A LOT to ask. I've been playing for 1 year and could consitently 36star since month 3. And I can't even play Hard mode here lol. What a disappointment.
I hate the new mode. I end up playing stupid teams with 3 Hypercarries and such. F this shit.

I was feeling indifferent about it, not until my mora dropped from 5M to 309 from building characters, so annoying
imagine if the endgame is, Elemental is specific (only 2 random element) then you only need 2 characters, once you start the game you'll start as lvl 1 without artifacts and random 2 character will be selected (with the specific element) and it'll be rougelike with stages where there's a room you'll enter, it maybe a reward room, elite enemies room, power up room, until you beat upto floor 20 (where floor 10 will give you another character that's not random and floor 20 is the 4th character of your choice and all of the character is from your own character you have) so even old and new players that beat the current content can enjoy the game, make it once a week with less reward..
I regret starting the theatre without thinking twice about it sooo much. I also chose normal mode and just filled the slots with all the characters who fitted the three elements and thought I might as well just level them up in between BUT YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT. So to players who haven't tried it out yet: Build your characters first and THEN click on the book to start because there's no way back. I now have to wait for the next theatre update and it's so annoying because I miss out so many primos and other rewards for this theatre season.

You actually can. I only reached Act 7 on my first attempt, and I can't defeat Coppelius anymore since I already used up my good characters. So I exited the stage.
Upon interacting with the book once again, there is a tab on the left side, and in one of those tabs, there is an option to [End Performance] which will allow you to restart the theater from the first act.

Any one change to make it less harsh will make the mode more well received, espcially players are new to this mode and lack of experience is a huge handicap, I would want 1 more element than the 3 limited elements.

I don’t have enough strong characters built to get farther in hard or normal mode , I just want the primos but since the anemo , pyro and electro being the only elements I don’t have enough support, I don’t have that many electro characters, this mode will be a pain for challenge accounts weapon or element or even only females or etc

I am happy with the elemental restriction. And I am also happy with the idea of making geo one of the restricted elements. What would ACTUALLY suck right now would be if HYDRO were a restricted element, given that of the 13 hydro characters, only 3 of them are 4* and 1 of them is Hydro Traveller, so they likelihood of having enough hydro characters is lower than with other elements due to how top-heavy it is. But incentivising and rewarding players for building niche characters like Yun Jin?? Yes please! My level 90 c6 r5 Fav Lance with 4p Husk and 2600 def without Husk stacks Yun Jin finally getting to shine sounds like a dream come true, so I can't wait for geo to be featured.
playing almost two years, with 30+ characters built (24 at Lv90), I couldn't do the highest level, but I knew I could. Given how bad drop rates are, it is near impossible for even a seasoned player to build characters at the rate and quality IT needs. If i could fix anything, it'd be exactly what you mentioned: vigor, number of characters, number of friend characters, ect. If I had to sum up It in one word, it'd use 'infuriating'.
