Went back to refresh my memory, Personal I think the front bumper cuts make the truck look really good, I prefer it over the stock look, by far. Whole setup looks really good on a Kei truck!
I love these Mini tucks and the add of the tracks is SOOOO AWESOME! you can do so much with these little trucks, here in NC they are more "Tuner" type trucks, lowered and stuff. but they are cool!
Ambition Strikes made tracks for their Jeep Cherokee. They started with 4 used snowmobile track belts and designed the frames to fit them. They have a series of design and build videos and just recently offered the plans for sale for $99. Estimated build cost is $1500 per unit if you buy all new parts and materials. They've gotten quite a lot of use out of "Snowverlander" due to the heavy snow northern Idaho has been getting this winter.
@@ianstraker3060 watch their How do we afford all this? video. They spent $50K on a solar system because it would have cost $20K to get a power line to their property, plus hooking it up, plus the ongoing cost of electricity.
Where did you order the track set from. And what would the total build cost. I thinking if redoing the same thing for ice fishing rig. Thanks and awesome video
I ordered the tracks through mini4x4.ca in Quebec. Total cost was $7200 Canadian. The 2” lift was $200 and the track kit was $7000 shipped to my door. It came with the wheel spacers needed to mount the tracks.
Thanks Gabriel! There will definitely be a learning curve in driving. The tracks have a gear reduction of 1/3 and sure change the feel of the truck. Plus, more snow is needed!
Just out of curiosity... did you try installing any of the 4 corners without the 1" spacers? Or did you need them just to convert the lug pattern? I have a 2002 HiJet DeckVan and am trying to avoid pushing the tracks out wider as it will affect my rear sliding doors on both sides.
I needed the spacers to change the lug pattern over. I do believe it would have needed them for the tracks to clear the front struts though. I can’t remember offhand exactly how much space there was though.
Looking at it, it almost seems like you do want that pressure from the rear stabilizer pulling the track forward (pulling the rear of the track down). It'd keep the rear end pitched up instead of diving nose down. If it were to gain air, you want the track to land at the back, not dive into the snow. But a super cool project. That'd be a fun little toy to have!
Geez! If I grab air in that unit I’m in all kinds of trouble! Haha. In the camso adjustments manual there is a set amount of preload that they want on those springs and if I would have jacked the truck to make them fit the adjustability would be gone. In hindsight it’s probably not a huge deal but neither was pulling the bracket to get it modified.
@@ianstraker3060 Haha, that's fair. I can't imagine getting air in that but it could be fun if your spine survives? You had me locked with this vid btw, between the Manuel and first step *cracks a beer* haha. Same works in 'Sconnie.
They do take some power to turn. I ran it in 4 low all last winter and you need to keep the revs up. There was always a gear you could use just don’t expect to go fast. Some ice crusted snow last year was tough to run through and took a lot of power and patience. (Reving out in 3rd gear but then bogging down when you shift up to 4th.) That being said, I can’t wait to get them back on and get out fishing this winter. It goes everywhere. Nothing like getting out on the lake where no one is able to drive to with wheels.
I don’t know how important the anti-rotation really is. I watch two other channels that have tracks on Jeep Cherokee’s ether one run them and have even said they have no problems. One is an off road recovery vehicle with a V8 and pulls other very heavy trucks out of deep snow. Great video though. I’m looking into getting a set for my Polaris. Down the line would like to use them on. Suzuki Jimny or Mitsubishi mini Pajero.
@@ianstraker3060 I watched the recovery guy’s latest video today. Several commenters asked what all the rattling was with his new tracks. He pointed out that they were the anti-rotation mounts that were not connected. He explained his old tracks didn’t have that option but planed in the ne’er future of connecting this set.
I haven’t actually tried it but I can’t see why not. Not sure why someone would want to. I’ll have to give it a try next time I get out though and get back to you.
Terrible! Ha! I took it down the street to a friends place and you couldn’t hear yourself think once you got some speed out of it. The tracks were howling and the vibration in the cab was crazy. Still had a blast though! Haha

Geez, that I don’t know. I know nothing about Hondas. Wheel spacers can be found for almost any conversion but I’m not sure on any of the brackets for the anti-rotation.
Speaking as someone that used to work fitting various kits on vehicles, I can't help but wonder if you realised that if you had made no modifications to that first bracket that it would have worked perfectly fine as it was meant to. I literally had a shudder go down my spine when you said you were going to cut it and weld an inch on. Because you did that is the very reason why you had to modify the bottom of the bracket.
Ya, literally the first step was to cut the brackets that we gave you, extend them an inch and then put the left side on the right and the right in the left. After that I was wondering what the hell I was getting myself into.
@@ianstraker3060 , after watching your video, I got curious to see if anyone else had made any videos on these. Have you calculated the effective change in final gear ratio? I did some research, and wasn't able to find anything specific. What is actual speed compared to stock indicated?
It is roughly a 1/3 gear reduction with the 16 tooth sprocket that they recommend for these trucks. I think I found it on a Four Sons Off-road video where they explain it. The speedo is definitely showing a higher speed than actual but I haven’t actually compared GPS speed to it yet.
@@ianstraker3060 Even with that rough calculation of an additional 1/3, that should make all the difference in the world, putting it right in the power with tracks. Thanks!
