I have been driving a Sambar supercharged, EFI, 4WD TT2 in New Hampshire winters for almost a decade. It has 14" Goodyear mud and snow tires and never lets me down. It will easily handle 12" of dry powder, but heavy wet snow and slush slows and tosses the light vehicle around enough to make one slow to a crawl to maintain control. That's about the time I see a lot of other vehicles falling off the roads and stalling out. The little truck also does a good job of busting through the high banks of plowed snow on our road frontage. When most people are trapped in their homes, I am out running errands just for the fun of it. Lots of grins. Happy trails.
How are the winter cold starts? I live in the Canadian Prairies and we will get -20F to -40F (or colder) snaps. I wish I was kidding.
@jfpjfpjfp I lived in Medicine Hat so I know -40c! No block heater in mine so probably not so good. Coldest I’ve had my truck in was -10c and it was fine.

So true! I have a pretty sweet Mustang that I track from time to time and my little Sambar gets way more attention. Almost every time I go out someone asks if I want to sell it.
That was awesome! Thanks for sharing. I picked up a 96 4WD Hijet at the port on 8DEC22. It had a blown clutch so I'm still waiting for parts to get it on the road and I can't wait. At least it's home where I can do little mini truck projects as the winter weather allows. Waiting three months after buying it for the truck to arrive was tough. I hope you used a lanolin undercoating on the undercarriage and frame (inside and out) before taking your Sambar on the salted highway. These little kei trucks are great but frame corrosion is their biggest enemy.
I had entire truck dismantled down to the frame, cleaned it, primed and repainted with Rustoleum. We don't get much salt on roads here as we don't go below freezing very often, even more rare to get snow. Frame looks good.

@@turnbullgarage88 been looking at these mini trucks for a while. Saving up to get a fixer upper and planning on doing a custom paint job.
looks like you are having a blast I look forward to getting one when I sell my side by side I was leaning to the Subaru because of 4 cylinder and rear engine for better traction do you agree with that and is there less noise in cab with rear engine. It's great not growing up I was doing donuts in my sbs. Merry Christmas
They are great for even weight distribution. One thing to note, keep an eye on oil as they are known to spin rod bearings. Change oil every 5k and don’t let it get low. My other videos show some worn out bearings and the repair.

It actually has dual batteries, so no issues.

It is for a Jeep YJ tweaked a bit to fit the cab.

No problem for headroom, but leg room will be near impossible.
