      You are welcome and thanks for the feedback.
      The Apex is a great machine, just make sure you have done the checks
      Also make sure to use the channel menu it's a game changer
      Ground balance it's important
      Stick with the Garret coils
      It's a very sensitive machine so don't be concerned if you drop the sensitivity to 4 (half way) I've found good targets at 8-10" with sensitivity from the top!
      Any questions just drop us a message on here or our facebook group

    I bought mine about a year ago. This is the first detector I own so I have nothing to compare it to. My neighbor has a $1000 Mindlab that the Apex is just as good. The one thing I did was I updated the software. I believe this helped a lot with the sensitivity. The one thing I never thought about was ground balance after a change, I’ll try it next time I’m out. I find that most that don’t like the Apex is that it’s not properly set up. All in all, I love mine and glad I bought this as my first detector.

      @@xrmte Very good choice. If you are coming from another Garrett just forget everything you know. Treat this like a different machine.
      When you set it up:-
      Make sure the coil cable is nicely wrapped to the stem.
      When you turn on - coil to the sky
      After making any changes, always ground balance
      Don’t be concerned about dropping the sensitivity down to half - this is a very sensitive machine and powerful - respect this and be mindful on half sensitivity it’s still very powerful
      MF mode isn’t always the must use frequency option on land, fixed frequency is good in some conditions
      If you get chatter, use the channel feature in the menu, this is a frequency shift to eliminate chatter
      Enjoy - it’s a great machine

    now to try it out in the yard first of all
    what settings should I be aiming for?

    • @XMDUK
      @XMDUK  2 года назад

      Yes it’s definitely a nicely balanced unit. The advice I’d give you, is turn it on and select any of the factory programs.
      Take the sensitivity down to half (4 bars).
      Ground balance.
      Now go search the yard.
      If it’s really nice and stable incase the sensitivity slowly.
      If you have any chatter, use the channel feature on the menu.
      All ground conditions are different so you will discover what’s best for your location.
      Mine are:-
      Mode - Zero
      Frequency - 20Khz
      Sensitivity - Start at 4 and increase
      Iron Audio - On
      Iron Volume - 3 (in all metal mode IA is on as default)
      I now ground balance
      Off ready to search
      One point - when turning the machine on, coil to the sky and hold it there for 5-10 seconds so the machine has done its power up scan.
      GL @ Enjoy

      With the frequency should I do multi frequency or just select a frequency?

    • @XMDUK
      @XMDUK  2 года назад

      @@xrmte MF on land is a good option but doesn’t suit all search conditions. If you know what you are likely to find and like to have a regular VDI TDI for the target type - a fixed frequency is a better option.
      MF is good when you are searching for relics or some challenging conditions, however a fixed low frequency will normally do better on dry firm ground and for larger targets and deep silver.
      A higher fixed frequency is good for smaller targets and those where the ground is mineralised or lots of iron.
      On sand / beach use MS no question about this - it’s a fantastic machine on the beach and will be equal to machines twice the price.

    Seriously considering parting with my V3i and CTX 3030 and getting an Apex. Lighter and easier to operate. What do you think?

    • @XMDUK
      @XMDUK  3 года назад +1

      This is a really nice machine and definitely much easier on the swing over the 3030. The 3030 is a great machine and top of its class for many years.
      If you can, find someone with the Apex a d see if they would allow you to use it for a few days.
      I think you need to compare for yourself.
      If you have the opportunity, try the Deus with the X35 11” coil. Run it in deep program. This is a much lighter machine than all and with time and the right settings you’ll find some great targets.
      Take a look at some of our other vids where the Deus is doing us proud.
      Good luck with your decision but spend some time to find the best option for you as you’ve been using a really great machine but it’s a little old tech now and definitely one you know you’ve used after a few hours in the field.

    Hello mate, great video. I seem to get signals around the 99/95 range fairly regularly which always turn up nothing, is that range always a a ghost signal?

    • @XMDUK
      @XMDUK  3 года назад +2

      Hi mate, thanks for watching, 95 is normally the last target signal I would personally dig. These really high numbers can be minerals or deep iron.
      If you dig and nothing is found it’s definitely the machine getting ground minerals.
      When you get these signals, just switch iron audio on (I personally run with it on at all times level 5 minimum). This will give you another tone / filter and if you swing over the target in both directions 90 degrees and you hear a grunt it’s going to be iron or minerals so just walk on.
      My preferred settings
      Sensitivity 2-3 bar from the top
      Mode Zero
      Don’t notch anything out
      Iron audio 5
      Channel - change the channel if you are getting the chatter that people mention
      Ground balance - coil in the air, hit the GB then pump near the ground
      Don’t be put off by taking the sensitivity down - the machine is extremely sensitive and on other tests, we compared it to the AT Pro, with the AT on full and the the Apex on 4 from the top they were equal on target depth - its sensitive !!
      We do have some other vids on RUclips for this machine and also a play list on our channel.
      Any questions feel free to msg on here or DM us on Facebook messenger. Good luck and enjoy 👍🏽

      IA - On
      Nothing notched
      Sensitivity - 4 from the top, start here and increase accordingly so the machine remains stable.

      @XMDUK  Год назад

      Thanks for watching!
      The machine should be stable for sure, are you still getting get targets at depth?
      Ground balance, this will depend on the ground conditions and your location, you would normally see some change in the figures, sometimes you may need to pump the coil a few times but be sure to get as close to the ground as possible and then 12” away - do this quickly for around 20 seconds.
      Also GB should be done after any settings are changed.
      If you have stability issues or chatter.
      Coil cable must be wrapped and plug tight.
      Do a hard reset by pressing and holding the power button for 8-10 seconds and two beeps!
      Coil to the sky, power on.
      Select 20Khz
      Drop sensitivity to 4 bars from the top
      Select mode Zero and notch nothing out
      Iron Audio on
      No GB
      If chatting use channel feature
      Now GB
      If chatting be sure to try a different location
      If stable now increase the sensitivity to the point where it’s good but not chatting

      Thanks for you positive feedback! I was looking to get some creative ideas from your channel - but oh no videos, so I guess you also failed and fall in the the category of those who shouldn’t do videos!!
      Seems like you were the only one who didn’t enjoy this, lots of views with some great comments.
      Sorry we didn’t tick your box on this occasion, but hey… we have plenty more videos for you to watch and maybe one of them will satisfy your needs 😂
      Have a good week and keep up the good work 👍🏽

      What machine did you have before?
      What makes you say this is a disappointing machine?
      Maybe we can help!
