Nice work Dawn. Very quiet machine. Me likey. I may have to give my Bing Bong to my wife to justify an Apex. I have "Maxine" (AT Max) for wet river work. I like the lightness of the Apex, and so far, I'm very impressed. Thank you. Hank
Quick tip - when you are burying tester targets on a beach, tie a length of string to it, then it's just a case of following the string back down to it!
Wow! Thanks for showing how the different settings work! Your right when you say someone new like me has trouble learning which way to adjust each setting! Awesome dig Dawn and Diggy!! Sliver in the hole👍🏻 be safe and HH 🎧⛏
Thanks Dawn - What a great demonstration of the Ace Apex on wet mineralised sand, and the performance was very impressive using the MS mode. I detect Blackpool beach and it can be very challenging for single frequency detectors and most of the regulars always use multi frequency machines. It looks like Garrett's might have nailed multi frequency technology on their first attempt, and I was pleased to see you showed the difference between each mode. Good luck on your next hunt.
Great video Dawn! I was amazed at how quiet it was on the beach in Florida. I too had to keep checking to see if it was working by running the coil over my sand scoop. Happy Hunting my friend and best of luck! ~ Gypsy
Hi Gypsy, yeah Blackpools a difficult beach to detect so for it to be that quiet was amazing! Did you see how rubbish I was hahaha its a completely different way of detecting haha
I love beach detecting when there's noone around. I have the Ace 350 on the highest setting it will allow because sometimes the targets can be quite deep and either do a grid pattern or be guided by where I feel I want to go. The Ace doesn't much like being swung from dry sand to wet sand, it complains by giving false signals but as long as the sand is a consistent wetness I can usually go full sensitivity or close to. And I love that you can always see exactly where you've already been. Plus I have a backpack and plastic bags so if I come across where someone has had a beach party and left a heap of aluminium cans I can bag them up and chuck them in the street recycling bin. It's sad but if we rely on the authorities to do it, it may never happen and if there's glass as well, that goes in too because no kid deserves to get broken glass in their feet.
Good hunt Dawn. You should never give up on targets. I dug a low 12 on on a beach with my Ace400i as it was my designated last hole, after searching and digging deeper and deeper, I found a small gold pendant 14" down! I nearly gave up twice, I thought, "if the machine says there is something here, there must be". Now you will never know if it was a diamond encrusted white gold engagement ring or a beer can 😉
Perfect day really, a little cloudy, windy and keeps all the sunbather's at home. Young ARNIE looks to be quite the match against the old Maxi. Settings are def better. Love it. Diggy looks like he was chuffed at being able to play around the water. Take care Dawn, Hugs to a soaked Diggy! hahaha
Hi Digger Dawn, Good video, It's amazing how quiet the detector is on full sensitivity. Nice to see Diggy doing his security bit. Next time you go bring us some rock back !! lol...😎👍👍
Would have been interesting to see the Maxi come in behind the Apex just to make sure it wasn't missing anything when it was so quiet in MS mode. The Apex seems pretty good though if that's how quiet it is in beach mode.
Dawn that great video really enjoyed and really surprised at how garrett have nailed the MS mode well done garrett. Great little tester at waters edge too. At least you met another detectorist on the beach too which would have been nice. Great hunt ATB GL HH
Great to see you out and about it's looking like a fantastic piece of kit very impressive on the sand and quiet as a bell. I think diggy need to help and learn how to dig your treasure up he was trying he has the right idea. Amazing I'm glad you didn't loose your ring well you had the right piece of kit to find it. Stay safe.
Green Machine Dawn! So quiet and Gypsy likes it too. The Garrett carrot Pro pinpointer must be ground balanced, and sensitivity turn down on a highly mineralized Beach. Yes pinpointers can be ground balanced to the different ground conditions. Turn it on up in the air and then wave it down into the watery hole several times
Not a bad set of pins yer standing on Dawn From what i could see through the Glare. glad your happy with it mate I was 6yro in 1953 the last time i was on Blackpool beach
You have to be gentle digging near the water line. When you claw, and grab for the object you can actually make it sink further by loosening up the sand with water. Especially heavy metals. I watched a vid where the poor scoopless digger sunk a 7" deep object right out of reach, just by using his hands. The numbers showed gold. You can see this with a lead weight at the waters edge. Swirl the water around it, and watch it sink. Sand scoops are pretty much a necessity.
Thank you for testing on the beach very interesting . You can ask for a test on the field for a copper and silver coin , it is very interesting to see what depth it will see. How deep will you see when the ground is rebuilt?
It's great to see Diggy Dog again...he used to think his Mum was a nutter, but now he knows! I thought he was pretty well behaved and clearly enjoyed his day out.
I've just bought a used Garret AT pro and a Garret ace 250 for my father to use. I know little about detecting but it live by the sea so going to give it a go.

Glad you enjoyed it, yeah I knew id be struggling for finds and didnt have all day to search, so for a quick test i thought it better to take some gold :-)
Well done Dawn. But it looks very cold. Next time I expect you will be diving with the Garrett.I will start digging the target from my end :) Cheers HH

My ACE APEX is due to arrive tomorrow, so thank you for some first lessons! My first detector was a Dick Smith kit but the Garret will be my first real nice detector. All the best.
Good morning dawn , as i type I’m sat in Scotland and I’ve brought my apex to do some beach detecting , on sand and pebble beaches do you still ground balance ? I’m running on zero and MS . Ps thanks for all the videos you put up. They are great.
Pretty sure the deep target was a beer can. Every good signal that goes that deep is usually a beer can - and none of them are ever full lol. Great video keep them coming!!
A true test for gold on the beach is a gold chain laid out long not in a pile, then see if it will pick it up it can be just underwater and not burried, if it does you have a great detector if not you still have a really good one. Good luck
