- OMG You wont BELIEVE it if you don't watch for YOURSELF. The Garrett Ace APEX is amazing on the beach, I mean really amazing!!! I'm shocked!!
I was running it in the new multifrequency MS or multisalt mode, with the sensitivity on full and it was silent, even in the waters edge. I was able to metal detect easily on a salt beach that's notoriously difficult due to high mineralisation. There is never any dry sand in Blackpool and the sand its always wet.
The Garrett ACE APEX has really smashed it out of the ballpark with this machine, it was unlike any Garrett machine I have ever used on a beach. I buried gold rings and silver items in the waters edge at different depths to see if the could be found and the targets were clear and easy to identify.

Quick tip - when you are burying tester targets on a beach, tie a length of string to it, then it's just a case of following the string back down to it!

Good hunt Dawn. You should never give up on targets. I dug a low 12 on on a beach with my Ace400i as it was my designated last hole, after searching and digging deeper and deeper, I found a small gold pendant 14" down! I nearly gave up twice, I thought, "if the machine says there is something here, there must be". Now you will never know if it was a diamond encrusted white gold engagement ring or a beer can 😉

I love beach detecting when there's noone around. I have the Ace 350 on the highest setting it will allow because sometimes the targets can be quite deep and either do a grid pattern or be guided by where I feel I want to go. The Ace doesn't much like being swung from dry sand to wet sand, it complains by giving false signals but as long as the sand is a consistent wetness I can usually go full sensitivity or close to. And I love that you can always see exactly where you've already been. Plus I have a backpack and plastic bags so if I come across where someone has had a beach party and left a heap of aluminium cans I can bag them up and chuck them in the street recycling bin. It's sad but if we rely on the authorities to do it, it may never happen and if there's glass as well, that goes in too because no kid deserves to get broken glass in their feet.

Hi Gypsy, yeah Blackpools a difficult beach to detect so for it to be that quiet was amazing! Did you see how rubbish I was hahaha its a completely different way of detecting haha

Perfect day really, a little cloudy, windy and keeps all the sunbather's at home. Young ARNIE looks to be quite the match against the old Maxi. Settings are def better. Love it. Diggy looks like he was chuffed at being able to play around the water. Take care Dawn, Hugs to a soaked Diggy! hahaha
Thanks Dawn - What a great demonstration of the Ace Apex on wet mineralised sand, and the performance was very impressive using the MS mode. I detect Blackpool beach and it can be very challenging for single frequency detectors and most of the regulars always use multi frequency machines. It looks like Garrett's might have nailed multi frequency technology on their first attempt, and I was pleased to see you showed the difference between each mode. Good luck on your next hunt.

Would have been interesting to see the Maxi come in behind the Apex just to make sure it wasn't missing anything when it was so quiet in MS mode.
The Apex seems pretty good though if that's how quiet it is in beach mode.

You have to be gentle digging near the water line. When you claw, and grab for the object you can actually make it sink further by loosening up the sand with water. Especially heavy metals. I watched a vid where the poor scoopless digger sunk a 7" deep object right out of reach, just by using his hands. The numbers showed gold. You can see this with a lead weight at the waters edge. Swirl the water around it, and watch it sink. Sand scoops are pretty much a necessity.

Green Machine Dawn! So quiet and Gypsy likes it too. The Garrett carrot Pro pinpointer must be ground balanced, and sensitivity turn down on a highly mineralized Beach. Yes pinpointers can be ground balanced to the different ground conditions. Turn it on up in the air and then wave it down into the watery hole several times
oh i never thought about the pinpointer being affected haha, you can tell i dont beach much haha

A true test for gold on the beach is a gold chain laid out long not in a pile,then see if it will pick it up it can be just underwater and not burried, if it does you have a great detector if not you still have a really good one. Good luck

yeah the rest of the country were bathing in 30 degree sunshine! weve had horrible weather big cloud over lancashire for months, thats why my legs were so white haha

Impressive results for the beach. My AT Pro so much chatter in the wet sand that I have to drop sensitivity & risk missing deep targets. Pity the Apex isn't fully waterproof. Well done funny lady.

I've just bought a used Garret AT pro and a Garret ace 250 for my father to use. I know little about detecting but it live by the sea so going to give it a go.
you may need to stay on dry sand, wet beach can cause a lot of noise unless you turn your sensitivity right down
@@DiggerDawn yeah i've been watching videos on them and settings people use. I may be trading my AT Pro soon for a Macro racer 2. I'm going to use it a little first see how i get on.

@@DiggerDawn Well my first day beach detecting i learned not to take my 4 year old lol she made it quite impossible as she had other ideas. Even had to chase after her lol. least i found a rusty bottle cap lol. Going to go out in the morning on my own.

Thank you for testing on the beach very interesting . You can ask for a test on the field for a copper and silver coin , it is very interesting to see what depth it will see. How deep will you see when the ground is rebuilt?

Greetings from locked-down Melbourne, Aus. Dawn, try swings less wide and slower and I think you will detect more contacts. Looks like Doggy is having fun too. My ACE APEX is due to arrive tomorrow, so thank you for some first lessons! My first detector was a Dick Smith kit but the Garret will be my first real nice detector. All the best.
I'm really exited when the Apex is available! I ordered one and I've waiting so long.... Maybe next time I've ordered a Minelab or something like that..
the equinox took longer to reach the customer than the garrett is going to, it just feels like a long time :-)

its unbelievably light only 2.5lbs, ive had a bad elbow for a couple of months and its got better over the past couple of weeks using the apex
