  • This Kamov Ka-26 was manufactured in 1978 in Kumertau, Russia. It flown in the Hungarian Air Service between 1978-1989, was used for agricultural flights. After 1990, she moved to the East side of the country, with the station of Nyíregyháza airport.
    Yearly the team had less and less work for the chopper, so at the beggining of 2017. sold her to Aero-Komplex Kft. Now she stations at Ikervár and works around that region.
    When we visited the team they sprayed wheat near Gérse.
A gép máig ezeken a területeken végez mezőgazdasági tevékenységet.
    Látogatásunkkor a gép búzát permetezett Gérse térségében.

    I always loved watching crop dusters ever since I was a child and thought how awesome the piper pawnees and Cessna agwagons were to watch, I've seen other helis converted into ag machines but this is one true awesome helicopter to watch and to listen with those twin radial engines rumbling through the sky... so cool.

    Those Kamov 'Copters are beyond cool!!! Twin Radial Piston Engines! Sounds like a couple of old Chevy I6s starting up cold!! And that old Bird is perfectly airworthy! Awesome Machine!!

    Hi, What can you say about Maintenance? Repairs? Parts? How do people keep a 40 year old, dual co-axial, counter-rotating rotor, twin 9 cylinder fan cooled rotary piston engine powered, mechanically complex helicopter flying?
    Thanks

    • @thefreedomguyuk
      @thefreedomguyuk 4 года назад +3

      This is actually a mechanically simple aircraft.
      No tail rotor, saving an entire drive train, and removing one of the most common sources for faults.
      The radials do need more maintenance than turbines. But they are very low powered, with magneto ignition, so won't maintenance heavy during it's 2250 hrs cycle.
      Attention must be taken in regards to payload, as the two engines are linked via transaxle to the main gearbox. This axle is weak, and is the Achilles heel of the Hoodlums.

    thanks for this great video. Do you have any information how many engines and rotor blades have been used during this 40 year history? How many hours did the chopper fly?
    By the way: what is that yellow dome on the front?

    • @horvathhanna
      @horvathhanna 5 лет назад

      The yellow dome on the front is for filtering the air entering the cockpit so that the pilot doesn't inhale the substance he sprays.

      Oh no problem. I'm really impressed by this 40 year old machine and its reliable operation all the time. I'm sure there is no modern equivalent with comparable characteristics.

      The nose has a small turbine / fan to make positive air pressure in the cabin so no chemicals which are sprayed can go in. Other versions of the helicopter do not have this feature. This is one of the few helicopters that were equipped from the factory as a spraying applicator, so they incorporated the nose fan for this version.

    What is the guy doing with the big ratchet before start up?

    • @KamovRider
      @KamovRider  4 года назад +1

      He is rotating the engine with the ratchet, because the lower cylinders collecting too much oil during parking, starting the engine without hand rotate may cause damage.

    1 motorral is repül hiba esetén?

    • @KamovRider
      @KamovRider  3 года назад +2

      Szia!
      Hát a pilóták sztorijai alapján régen mikor még bikák voltak a motorok, akkor egész jól repült egy motorral is, manapság már lassan süllyed, maximum tartani tudja a magasságot, ha nincs túlterhelve. De általában egy motor megállása után le szoktak szállni, mert azért az egy komoly dolog.

    Well engineered machine, but there is wobbling from an un-balanced prop or other.....

    • @thefreedomguyuk
      @thefreedomguyuk 4 года назад +1

      What are you on about ?
      I can assure you that even a slight rotor imbalance very soon would result in a rapid, unscheduled disassembly of said rotor!
      And the engineer team did actually get a few fundamentals very wrong in the design phase of the Hoodlum.
