Before Elijah was born, his parents didn't have the best lifestyle. But when Elijah's mom found out she was pregnant, she decided to make a change. She cut out all of her bad habits and got a job so she could provide for her family. However, Elijah's father didn't make the same changes. As a result, Elijah's mom would get mad at his dad for not taking better care of himself. They would argue all the time, and Elijah's father didn't pay any bills.
When Elijah was born, things only got worse. Elijah's dad informed his mom that they had lost their house. This led to more arguing between Elijah's parents, and they eventually separated. Then, in 2009, Elijah's father went to prison, and Elijah was forced to grow up without his dad.
After years of not being with his dad, Elijah's father was eventually released from jail when Elijah was in 5th grade. Elijah began going to his dad's house and reconnecting with his father. After only a few days of being out of prison, Elijah's father married a new woman, which really bothered Elijah. He felt uncomfortable going to his dad's house and being around strangers.
When Elijah was growing up without his father, he really missed his dad. But after he was released from prison, Elijah felt like his dad started to show his true colors. His dad started having marital problems with his new wife, and they would argue whenever Elijah went to visit them. Then, Elijah's father ended up divorcing his second wife, which was shocking to Elijah.
But within only a few days, Elijah's father got married for the third time - now to a woman with kids. Whenever Elijah would visit his dad, he felt ignored. His father began fighting with his stepmom - yet again - and Elijah was often put in the middle of their argument.
After years of dealing with everything, Elijah decided to stop going to his father's house. As painful as it was for him to accept, Elijah had to say to himself, "I Didn't Like Who My Dad Really Was." He didn't respect the choices his own father was making, so Elijah had to make the incredibly difficult decision to separate himself from a toxic situation.

I really respect this kid, I cant imagine what it would be like to be in his position, but I like how he got the courage to stand up for himself. Im genuinely really proud.
I finally had to do it and im 28. Hes got more courage than I did at his age. Its hard when they dont even recognize what they did and continue to do wrong. I lived with it for far too long and I hope he makes better choices than myself and his own father. He seems to be on the right track.

First and foremost, I am proud of his mom. She’s so strong and I hope she’s still holding on as she should be. Second, I have a lot of respect for this kid. He realized how wrong his father is and I am glad his mother raised him right. I am glad that he sees the wrongdoings in his father so he knows not to do it once he is grown.

I’m in a similar situation, though right now I’m still in the “making excuses” phase while my older siblings just straight up say “No,” and have even told him that they don’t want to spend time with him. I’m the youngest, and my siblings expect me to step up and act older and speak my mind, but I’m only in sixth grade, and trying to tell my dad that I don’t want to spend time with him is difficult. It’s true, but each time I try to say it, my dad guilt trips me, and when I call him out for it, he says, “If your feeling guilty by what I’m saying, then you know your wrong,” when it’s the other way around, and my dad’s the one to blame.
Also, being around my dad just isn’t healthy. He doesn’t even have a house, and during the whole coronavirus thing, he is super paranoid, saying how the world will never recover from this, and I’m trying to stay optimistic during this whole thing, (which isn’t something I normally do,) and he just ruins that.
Currently, though, my mom put a restraining order on him, and he isn’t allowed to contact us at all. It’s been fun these past few weeks without having to worry about him randomly showing up to the house, or having to worry about nothing to do in his RV.
I'm sorta going through the same thing right now, I'm in the 9th grade and my parents are seperated (legally still together) and my father is taking all my moms money. He has a new gf that gets 1,300+ each month, and works as a manager at a gym. So shes ringing in the cash, I dont know why he has to be so toxic. He always wants to hang out with me and my little brother, and we cant say no because afterall. Hes the adult...he doesnt even understand the fact that hes a horrible human being. When we all still lived together as a "family" it was horrible, he would verbally abuse us. He never cared, he literally NEVER spent money on me and my brother! He always commented on how i was chubby. And theres more, but i cant write all of it out :/. So i guess i can relate to you aha..

That’s probably the worst part about being young, it’s the fact that I can’t do *anything.* The only thing I can do is try and cheer my mom up as well, since we’re trying to moving to Florida in July, but the whole corona virus thing might stop that.

The same thing happened to me, i grew up in a small town in ontario living with my grandparents, me and my sister never got to live in a city in alberta with mom but see her on vacations, she always come visit, back then, and somewhere in 2011-2012 i learned about how abusive my dad was, when he beat the shit out of her, that time somewhere in the 2000s, around summer 2021 where i was getting older before my 18th birthday, i asked my mom what if i'm still scared of my own dad for all the shit he done in their relationship, and another thing that's been tough, my real mom and dad never been married either, my dad was never there for me, he lives across the country with another woman and different kids that were strangers to me. i never met them in person.
I feel really bad for him, I don’t live with my Dad but when I go to his house he’s happy to see me... I hope that this person is okay 😔

Moral of this Storybooth story is: Elijah's father has been cheated with many wives since he had argue with them over the past few weeks. Still, he becomes a player knowing that he is still in love with his first wife but then why arguing with her in the first place?
You can see Elijah's father has financial issues along with past issues. It's logical every wife the father had always argue with him.

That's why I told myself to learn how to become a good mother and wife first before I get married to a good man. Marriage is a huge responsibility and I don't understand why some people take it so easily. I want my future children to be happy and know that they are not alone. Kinda learnt this from experience.
