My mare was sooooo dramatic initially. I would tie her up next to other horses that liked it. You could really see how she asked the other horse if he/she was ok. She would nozzle them. 😂
Regardless to say, she enjoys it now. But I went from using a wet towel, bucket, hose low flow only hooves to entire body.

The secret = always being in tune to what level of acceptance is each horse at! Push at the wrong time, and you can create a mess that will set that horse back! Then it takes even longer because you have to step back in training to fix what you created! A super sensitive horse like Calypso could be easily ruined!!
Probably it's the same principle with fly spray. One step at a time.

A hot day in the UK (shock ,horror😱) we do actually get some 🤣and I gve my mare a bit of a bath. She was good with it in most places except her head where i made it into a fine spray.
Getting water in your ears is so unplesant for us humans, but for a prey animal it must be very hard to tolerate.
Do you avoid the face and ears, or just turn the pressure right down?

What breed is Calypso?
I would guess walking horse but she is not papered so I do not know.
She looks to have put on weight. Guess it’s muscle gain from the training. Looks good!
People have come to expect to see a body score of 6 or 7 which is unhealthier and harder on the horse starting training than this horse that came in a 4. Fat with no muscle is worse for the horse than a slightly thin horse.
@@timandersonhorsetrainingI HATE to see these high body scores, _especially_ on the energy-economical native or heavier types, and even more so when they're young. It's simply setting them up for a lifetime of metabolic issues and worse.
