    Somewhere between Jericho and Kettle Creek Vista, on the DHT, there used to be a funky old slanted bridge with one handrail. Do you remember crossing that one, or is that new one at 7:04 its replacement? That skillet at 32:38 looks like it's gotten some heavy use, haha. Super cool shots at the end there with you walking into Cross Fork. Lovin' the series!

      I think that’s the one that was replaced. Around the time you did the trail (and me also) there was an old bridge barely hanging on I think that’s the new one I crossed. That’s funny I didn’t notice the pan on the tree..Thanks John!

    Hi. I wish I didn't allow myself to get separated from the group at the Meet. I would have enjoyed chatting with you about your hikes. How did you map out your trails at home. What did you use? You do know the trails, for sure. What did you use while on the trails for mapping?

    • @Hiking.Inspired

      @@quietjohnoutandabout6578 In each of the video descriptions of this series I share the route conceived by Author Jeff Mitchell, the link will send you there. I used that along with the app AllTrails to map out my route. I printed out the maps in the link provided and downloaded the route I made on AllTrails. (You can map out your own routes with a paid subscription) I mostly used the paper maps on trail to save battery life on my phone but I did use it from time to time. Especially during the bushwhack section leading into Crossfork.

      I know I mentioned the DS9 episodes earlier but I don’t think they made my final edits in the previous videos! I downloaded about half of season 7 and enjoyed an episode (or two) every night😁Its one of my comfort shows and in my opinion the best trek.(I love them all) And 2001 is an absolute masterpiece. When I came across that marker I knew exactly what I wanted to do😂 Thanks for the comment!

      I understand the fear. It’s better to be scared of them than not! Keep good practice with food and smelly stuff and you shouldn’t have to worry about them, but fear of them is totally understandable!

    Thanks for making these videos! I've been curious how the PA Wilds Trail reroute through Hammersley worked; I doubted a route that included a 6 mile roadwalk was better than sticking to the DHT, but looks pretty nice! Also great to get a resupply option before Slate Run.

    • @Hiking.Inspired
      @Hiking.Inspired  5 месяцев назад +2

      @@cryptolithus Looking back that Hike through Hammersly Wild Area and the bushwhack after was one of the funnest parts of the trip, maybe it was the excitement of nearing a town stop that helped. Cross Fork was lovely and had everything a thru-hiker would want. If I remember correctly you can still stay on the DHT but it’ll pass the whole wild area experience. There’s so many route options out there! The PA Wilds Trail Loop will be introduced sometime in the next year hopefully and will be nearly 300 miles long!

    • @cryptolithus
      @cryptolithus 5 месяцев назад

      @@Hiking.Inspired Yeah, we did just that, staying on the DHT, but that was a rough stretch of trail (as you know). Hoping to hear the northern leg of the loop ends up somehow finding its way off the road! Maybe you said it and I missed it, but what's the mileage of the current PAWT? It was an even 200 back in 2020.

      Hello again! It was awesome meeting you both, I’ve been wondering if that was a dream! You know the trail angels I speak of on the opening segment of this series is referring to you and Dru. That was a very uplifting experience for me and I’ll always cherish that day we met on the trail. If you click on the link in the video description it’ll take you to the trail proposal where you can see the maps I used but I’m currently editing the final part of the series and I’ll see if I can’t add some maps at the end just because you ask. Thank you both so much for the support and revealing to me that the work I put into this is worth it❤️Until we meet again☺️

    I think the 6 mile road hike would be my least favorite part to for part3. Awesome trek through some very nice forests.

    • @Hiking.Inspired
      @Hiking.Inspired  7 месяцев назад

      Sometimes that road got a little sketchy around some sharp curves and hills with the 45-mph speed limit, but it was defiantly doable and stating it out first thing in the morning was a decent warm up. It knocked out 6 miles pretty easy, but it was nice to finally get back into the woods.

    Planning the DHT in a couple weeks. Having doubts about doing it and have it planned for a couple of years. Have done BFT, Quehanna, STS, and LT. A bit intimidated by the elevation gains and terrain.
    Any encouraging words?

    • @Hiking.Inspired
      @Hiking.Inspired  7 месяцев назад +2

      It’s really just more miles and less traveled. The less traveled parts is where the biggest difficulty will be. The guide book by Ben Cramer was very helpful for me planning out daily miles and camps. Go in with the right mindset and enjoy the wild, the wildness is the best part of this trail! With the other trails under your belt (STS Morgan’s Hollow😬) you already experienced some of the big elevation gains you’ll be getting into. You got this! I’m looking forward to hearing about your adventure!
