Awesome video, nice fall colors. I couldnt imagine doing 80 miles. We camped a night in Sprouls a few months ago. Awesome vista view site BUT it was foggy the entire time we were there so we couldnt see the view. It was a lot of fun driving the bus on those mountain roads, sketchy at times, but fun. Beautiful area.

Looks like you found out the hard way that most of the multi-use (red) trails in Sproul State Forest have been abandoned. I did myself on my big weird double lollipop loop thru-hike of the Donut Hole Trail. I started at the Eastern DHT trailhead and zig zagged through Sproul, up Garby, like you to CKT, down through Renovo and then tried to use the red trails through Sproul to the DHT Western terminus. Unfortunately, almost all of it was bushwhacking. Made the trip back on the DHT seem like a piece of cake! I wish Sproul would update their public use map to differentiate between maintained and abandoned trails, similar to Tiadaghton Public use map. Another great video. Looking forward to the rest of the trip! I just hiked West Rim trail two weekends ago and that only leaves Baker Trail on my 'PA State Forest Hiking Trails Award'. P.S. If you're planning on hiking the lesser traveled trails in PA State Forests, I highly recommend using Gaia GPS. You can create custom layers for all State Forest Public use maps and you can see exactly where you are in regard to the trails on the map. It's a bit of a convoluted process to set it up, so shoot me a message if you'd like a tutorial.

@@Bob_PAThat sounds like an epic loop you pulled off. I believe you about the abandoned trails out there that sure was rough. I attempt to “find” another trail later on and it was the same result. That’ll be in part three. I’m definitely going to check out that app, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I’ve been using Cal-topo a little recently and I like that a lot. Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

I love watching you take these trails whether they exist only on paper (some of them). You are following areas I grew up exploring and visiting. Blackwell, also my maiden name, is where my mother grew up and we would visit that little town often. ❤️ Morris is just a few miles from there, my old stomping grounds 👍

@@dianamazzullo9065 That’s some good country out there. Blackwell has always held a special place in my heart and Morris is right around the corner. I remember hiking out there a few years back with some friends, we stopped by the local bar(crossroads) for some wings and beer. This was bear season. Place is packed with a local band playing with some dude playing the saw. A hand saw with a bow. That was a memorable trip❤️
