- After racing at Spartan BEAST in Scotland, I try to fit my entire cheat day into the car trip back home!
This video has an above average amount of monkey bars and motorway service stations. Enjoy, and don't forget to subscribe 👍

Shout out to my wife and Burger King for making this video possible 😁 🍔 🤦♀️ Hope you guys enjoy 👍
Kudo's to your wife :)
Is burger King vegan now?
@@joncaseyuk1980 They have a couple of things on the menu 👍
Fantastic editing, really hard to tell a story that clearly from multiple perspectives but this was a seamless watch.
Thanks Ben 🙏
Motivated now to do a Spartan race
I did Ironman Weymouth 70.3 last week and I burnt 8000 calories according to my garmin/hrm. With your formula that would have allowed me to eat (8000 x 3 + 3000) 27,000 calories on the drive home. I probably wasn’t far off.
Another class video
That’s a LOT of Burger King 😂😂😂
When I did rim-to-rim-to-rim of the Grand Canyon (14 hours with a total of 11,000’ elevation gain!), I ate 5,000 calories the day before, 7,000 the day of, and 5,500 the day after. I was still hungry, but it was just too hard to eat more whole foods.
I’m 30 years old and came across your videos (not literally) around six months ago. I really genuinely have found motivation not just for me as I’m already fairly fit in a similar way to you, but more for those around me. Do you have a lovely way about you and your relationship with Jen really resonates with us in. Tough mudder coming up in October
Kris
17:20 this reminds me of my gym's locker room quotes printed on each locker: "Don't wish for it to be easier, wish to be better", which really gets my motivation going in the right direction each time I see it.
"not the smoking, they never caught me" love it 🤣I wasn't quite so covert, got caught a few times, fortunately never given the "smoke em up Jonny" treatment
I think your support crew (wife) is what got you through the day. Congrats and nice work!
Just found your channel mate wicked, I’ve been cycling about 3-4 months never thought I’d like it but it’s bringing my fitness back after not doing anything since first lockdown, motivating channel mate 👌🏽
You were 5 mins away from us! You could have used our shower 😂…next time! ‘Scotland’ is a big place!
Hilarious yet educational and challenging as always. I've been down the "toes gone bad" road before. Looking forward to the next episode with Nixon.
That first barbed wire was probably a rolling one, if you get dizzy you flip over and roll the other way. That's what I stole from watching the pros. You can also take you hydration bladder off one arm and drag it through the low barbed wires to stop it getting snagged. A few things that might help with your next race ! Great video
Another great video, editing made a half hour vid feel like 5 mins, congrats on the trifecta 🍔🔱
Love the format, switching between the ride home/eating and the race commentary.
30 mins of fun. Happy days !! That's some of the Zwift ride covered
You should sprint.....thats 4 rides for me 🤣
TV quality content. Way above average RUclipsr . 👍🏽🏅
This race looks really awesome!
You keep me motivated as I can really relate to you running as your closer to my 220lbs weight than the super awesome feathers flying in the front of the pro races. Thanks ! (:
Another great recap, story and edit. At first I thought wow he is narrating, eating that sandwich and driving without wife yelling at him or crashing but then realized i am an idiot and its the UK.
Brilliant... loved it ! Thanks
Fantastic report on your weekends entertainment, I know I don't have the upper body strength for those races, you'd find me in practically every burpee pit 😜😜😜
Brilliant video Mark, well above average.
Mark your channel is amazing. Been binge-watching all your videos the past few days.
My non english mind quietly panicking when your car is on the left side in a left turn..!
Amazing video. Loved the combination of Spartan footage and eating footage. Kept the video very entertaining. Love the fact that you’re a vegan athlete as well.
This was brilliant! Loved it!!!
Just found your channel today and I’ve watched about 15 videos - unreal, such an entertaining channel
10:43 Yep... Every time I am in a supermarket... :)
Great video … I remember that uphill barbwire crawl very well 😆😬
Love the back and forth with the story line! Great video
Really refreshing to find a RUclipsr that is real, that admits to enjoy Burger King, chocolate and fatty food. Most influencers are so goddam perfect and eating clean 24/7…
Love your material and honesty.
Was that some kind of new fancy weddingvow? "Incase of hurt footsies i will get you your BK"?
It’s true love 😂
Very interesting and entertaining, thanks. Spartan looks like a lot of "fun".
Heck this is just a typical Monday for me👍...... Minus the spartan race though😳😳😭😭
Nice production, seems like a lot of work to weave all of this together into an interesting story - well done.
Nice work Mark - burpee free Beast! Aroo! You're showing a tonne of strength on those obstacles.
VERY jealous of you being able to get a triple trifecta this year. Here in Australia we've just had everything postponed to next year so I won't even be getting a single trifecta. Get out there and smash it for me please!
I worked as a videotape editor for the Public Broadcaster in one of your colonies. Your videos are always a joy to watch, and inspiring, but in addition the editing here was top notch
🙏 thank you
“Good, serves them right” lightweights lol
Very enjoyable video. Well done.
Really like your content. Your editing style and commentary are hilarious, keep it up mate.
Brilliant. Always entertaining , informative and funny. Well done.👍
So good, I've never been big into fitness (at all, I was always the goalkeeper in PE), but having lost some weight (18 stone to 15 stone) via fasting, I'm looking to get in shape now I'm under 20% body fat. It's just, where the hell do you start to train for something like this? How many years does it take? I guess couch to 5k, then 10k, and just go from there. I'm turning 24 in April so it's inspiring to know you were able to turn it around later in life. Mental effort though, Mark. Been watching all your vids with my girlfriend over the last couple of weeks and we very much enjoy your humour and take on all things fitness and eating. Keep it up.
8884 calories, that is (almost) the Mount Everest of post-run meals
8:42 I hope she told you where to go after that dig! lol
Great work Mark, new to your channel, but we both have endurance, strength training and zero drop shoes in common 👍. Great channel, love the hybrid mix of all methods.
Loved the comment on the limping less than 4 mins into the video.. I have cerebral palsy which leaves me with a limp but I do lots of different events as, like you, I want to be above average
Keep up the videos, they are very good...
Just watched this as I have my first spartan coming up and it’s made me incredibly excited for it and slightly annoyed I didn’t decide to do a longer distance event
keep up the good work! amazing content - hi from Canada
Entertaining video as usual Mark 👍😁
Enjoying your channel quite much. Being a mid 50s lifelong triathlete I share your desire for challenges.
Boss video mate haha. Love the content. Looking at getting in to zwift but now I've seen a few videos Spartan racing looks horrible but great at the same time
Your lady is smart 😅. Reminds me of my lady who refuse to walk with me after my run sweating and stinking
Congratulations! Joy to watch these vireos 💪🏻👍🏻
Love your videos man, never miss one.
Awesome job on the fast food pig out, oh and Spartan race was great as well. Lol
You should check out the annual Spartan Beast hosted in Killington Resort, Vermont U.S. Specifically the dead march which is at mile 9.
13:04 "WHAT'S IN THE BOX" you married well, sir
I did 😁 No one in this house can say the word box without someone yelling WHAT'S IN THE BOX 🤣
Life is good :D
Next step: train the dogs. PS Jenna if you are reading this, do that and don't tell Mark
jan should have all your medals for taking you everywhere mark hope there was a lovely evening for her lol
Great video! Thanks for sharing 👏
Very enjoyable watch. As others have said, great content great editing. Nixon and Rocky long overdue………
Coming soon 😂🐶
Commenting for the algorithm. Love the content, Mark!
Just came across your channel. watched you run the 100k yesterday. great content and a good laugh along the way!
Love this channel!
You make me want to try one of these. Although the barbed wire crawl looks horrible.
Very impressed with Jen
Thoroughly enjoyed that video. That you get any flak for the "safety will be much improved now" remark? ;-)
No. Jen knows her skills, driving isn’t one 😂😂😂
Awesome video loving all your content
Congrats on the truly epic fast food trifecta, (Maccy D, BK and KFC). There's no medal but if you know...you know.
Fast food trifecta! Love it!
Im sad that the closest Spartan is over 1200 km away, but we do have a similar race here in Finland, but I dont think they have the trifecta style medals.
Mega vid as usual what a great watch👍👍 Are you posting up your Alpe event so we can join you 😊
Not sure when I’m doing it. Will be Sunday at some stage. Sooooo busy right now 🙄
really well edited video. Worked really well. Love it
That event looks fun
Great vid Mark. Only just started watching your content recently and love the way your Channel flows! Can I ask do you drink Alcohol? I know it's can be a bit of a taboo subject but the fitness game just wondered what your perspective was on it as I don't recall it being mentioned in any of your videos. 👍🏼
I don’t not drink 😁 I just don’t like it much! On a night out I’d rather a Diet Coke 😁 but my wife likes a drink so if we are out together I’ll drink with her. Short stuff normally (JD) as I don’t get the drinking pints of alcohol thing! I’m just not that into it. Maybe because of my size I can drink a lot and not feel drunk…. Then go straight to ill! So I have no happy drink stage that others seem to like! I’m either sober but drinking……or throwing up 🤣
Please may you do a video on a top-level overview of what your training will look like for the Ironman in 2022?
Really enjoyed this one . never knew what a Sparta race involved so a great heads up and as a vegi, now off to KFC! No idea! :-) Carry on
Great to look back on the race especially seeing the Tyrolean traverse as I failed it along with the spear throw well deserved treat on way home mate👍
Did you do the traverse hanging underneath?
@@MarkLewisfitness yeah I tried it underneath but legs kept coming off first time this obstacle just in my second Spartan race going to try it from above the way you did it mark looked more secure
@@ThomasMuskettOCRhybridathlete my first go at this I did it underneath and it sucks! When you first try ontop you think you'll just roll off but its super stable.....give it a go! Here's my first attempt! ruclips.net/video/cNzKIune0hM/видео.html
@@MarkLewisfitness just watched your first attempt n felt the same the bell seems so far away and legs where getting burnt from the rope going to try it the other way next weekend in London very helpful to watch thanks for the tips mark good luck for the rest of the year will look out for you down out pippingford my first time there can't wait 🙂 👍
Great format. Makes things more interesting. Thank you for all the insights.
Extremely helpful (especially for the long rubs, for me).
Nice twist on going vegan. At least for a while.
Did you ever thought about becoming a WWF/ Nat. Geo etc. (Not from the vegan option, just the eco-friendly, enviro-nature aspect)?
Great video! Smashed the race, wish we had vegan zingers in Aus
Always look forward to your videos class content
Another gem!
I often wonder if the designer of Spartan OCR has ever actually ran one?
Barbed wire just seems a bit much for my liking. But hey! I think OCR is excellent, and wish I was still young enough to try it.
Hyrox is definitely an option as a halfway fit 65 year old.
It does need to be said, if it hasn’t already? You are a gutsy, and decent athlete Mark! Taking your backstory into account, and the fact that you’ve done ultras, on top of everything else. Your dedication to your activities, your pain threshold, and the very fact that your videos are totally inspiring! Inovative, funny, and well documented, they certainly offer a lot, and are highly watchable, without being phony. Down to earth and real, is how I interpret them.
I do hope you’re going to try some boxing, If you haven’t already? There’s a so called ‘White collar boxing organisation in London. Which you’d do well to try as an end product of your boxing training! 16 0unce gloves, and head guard. I suspect you’d do really well. Thanks for your inspiration. Not that I necessarily need it. It’s just the variables, offer excellent insights into my training load😎👍🏽
Thanks! Boxing is happening, just a lot to fit in right now!
Amazing well done 👏 a good practice for the spartan race is running in Glencoe. The guns are packed start of the year and by end its empty, but we do a great battered Mars bar. 🤣 awesome work. I'm going to try qualify for UCI World championships next year 45-50 why don't you try it. Cheers
Does the rope 'nave seal' technique give your leg rope burn?
I put some kt tape on my shin at that point on my leg.
@@MarkLewisfitness Thanks Mark.
You’ve got air bubbles on your cupboard 😂😂
"The best threesore it is possible to have"....Oh you clever man. I see what you did there.
Hey Mark usually Saturday follows Friday…just wondered why you told us😂
Great video mate 👍🏻👍🏻
I need to find myself a spartan race that looked like a lot of fun
Congratulations!
I think it's always better to be in calorie credit soon after. I always find my body still feels in deficit a few days after if I haven't made up for the ones I burnt on the day of the effort itself. Those Spartans look like good fun, I might have to try one, although on the hanging exercises, I will find myself doing burpees which are my unicorn exercises.
One of your best videos. 👍
I came for the Spartan Race, and then found myself wrapped up in if you would get a vegan KFC burger or not, haha. Why? Just great story telling. There were multiple story threads occurring in this video. And weaving those stories around each other with your video editing - amazing!
Thank you. 🙏
The person coming half way down the field isn’t necessarily the “average” person at whatever event. They would be the median. Sometimes you have really fast or really slow outliers, making the median either faster or slower than the average…. Pernickety, moi?
Got any pictures/ a video of you doing the bad ass navy seal technique? Sounds like a good technique to have in the war chest.
All this time jumping about, with added burgers. It's like watching a Tarantino fitness video. And just as well edited.
Ooo we love a road-trip 😊
A long drive to Scotland from the south. I've done it by train that was long enough.
Just discovered your channel, but you’re hilarious and an hell of an athlete.
Awesome content as always. My step son asked me if I could only watch one you tuber would it be. Without hesitation Mark Lewis. Keep up the good work a true inspiration 💪💪💪💪
Thanks Chris 🙏
Brilliant video once again. Very entertaining. I know it got the least votes but still very interested in the final episode of the fat loss journey!
Ha! Yeah, no one wants to see the sensible video on fat loss 🤣 But it IS coming real soon. Because I have a bit to say on it!
@@MarkLewisfitness Great stuff. I did actually enjoy the race and eat vid. More insight into what these races are about. I’ll keep an eye out for the fat loss vid 👍🏻
Why did they use actual barbed wire? They could have used regular wire or string instead.
Awesome video Mark, very entertaining and inspiring.
Very clever with the edit between the gruelling course and the calorific intake 🤣
Well done on completing the third part of the medal 🥇👏🏻
