I always thought Rick was better as a football announcer than a hockey announcer, but the fact he’s getting this gig is testament to how good he is. All the best hockey announcers come from Canada.
Watching my first Calgary game without Ball and gotta say definitely noticed his absence. I’ll give this new guy a chance but Ball really became a solid announcer over the years and he’s gonna be hard to replace imho m
I don’t get the hate for Hughson. He had a cadence and rhythm to his voice. He always made a game sound intense. He didn’t just seem dead for 90% of a game, put you to sleep and then wake you up for a goal.
@@christhornycroft3686 Hughson would babble on and on during the play about irrelevant, boring stats and facts..... meanwhile, the puck is in the back of the net. That was his legacy : missing goals, missing big hits, and dead air through the neutral zone with everyone thinking their TV is broken because Hughson is silent.
As a Blackhawks fan I look forward to hearing you call the Hawks games along with Panger. Congratulations. I’m Vancouver
I remember listening to Rick on the radio in Kelowna before he went to the coast. “That’s on the Ball, I’m Rick Ball.”

Wow, another voice I listened to growing up and never thought I'd have to say goodbye to. Godspeed Rick!
hawks fans are happy to have mr.ball in the booth. mr. ball needs to go on the chgo blackhawks podcast!!
Gonna miss hearing Rick on Sportsnet, great pbp voice and definitely deserved more national games
I remember Baller on Team 1040 mid days 😅
The Kingston. Great place gone :(
Rick Ball should be doing Canucks and Shorty should more on.
Thank you !
100% in agreement.
Shorty really? I think you're the more on
I preferred Rick Ball over Jim Hughson.
Good one 😅
