It's a great feeling owning brand new. But it's even greater buying used. I got a fully loaded 2023 Frontier Pro4X with 26k miles for 36k out the door. I've seen others get similar deals with even less miles. My truck was a lease so it was well taken care of. If you go with a credit union on top of that, you can get a 5% rate for 72months. That's a very good deal compared to dropping 50k on a new truck that probably won't be fully loaded.
The college graduate and military discounts won’t apply for most people who are college grads and who served in uniform. Toyota tightens the definitions of both these categories meaning most folks cannot use these incentives. Kind of sad.
Another last check to do is, look at the reviews. When you've narrowed it down to the last 2 or 3 dealerships, look at the reviews because a 4.5 or 4 star might not be a 5 star due to service or sales. If the complaints are from sales at one dealership and service at the other, buy at the dealership with less negative reviews on sales. That's the last phase of the process.
I use several, the one here in the video which I like for filtering quickly is cars.com. I use autotrader.com and autotempest.com as well, but cars.com is usually my quick starting point.
You’re not missing out. After owning a 24’ SR5 4x4. Transfer case failed at 2400 miles. Some times you would feel the turbo lag from a dead stop. If you can get a V6 get it.
I would NOT buy a 2024 or 2025 Toyota Tacoma. Any Toyota SUV or Truck with a turbo or twin turbo is not going to last and you will have endless problems. Ask any seasoned mechanic about the new Toyota’s and how turbo engines will wear out your vehicle and the repairs are expensive.
How do you recommend I check vehicles' reliability? I'm looking for a used SUV that will be very reliable for a long time and preferably under $18,000. I'm looking at 2023 Nissan Rogues right now
I usually start by checking carcomplaints.com and the NHTSA website. I look for major problems like engine/transmission issues. If I don't find too much, I start looking in forums and facebook groups that are tailored to that model (years). It's tough, with a 2023 it's likely not going to have too many issues in the short term and is probably still under warranty for a while, but tough to know what long term reliability will be on them. The CVT was updated from previous versions, but time will tell on long term reliability.
100% respect this man! I am planning to purchase this vehicle as well. I am new to the truck world. I understand the locker on the rear-end but I would appreciate some explanation on the front end. Jason is awesome! Thank you sir!
Hey you must live near me :). I have no idea what their deal is, they refuse to budge on a lot of vehicles. The best deals I've seen there are on hail damaged or dealer demo stuff...
💯 agree and correct. Everyone I know who bought a new Tacoma or Tundra wants to sell it and baited because it feels cheap or something broke on their trucks. Transmission failure and rear end noises.. and cheap cheap interior and exterior for and finish.
Features don't add value to a vehicle. The junk adds complexity and potential problems after warranty runs out. A lot of features get a few oohs and aahhs for the first week and are ignored after that. Price a display before you buy. The big TV's manufactures put in cars now are useless. The one for my 2020 Camry LE was going to be over $3000 used. It was easier to dump that piece of junk problematic car, including the almost daily rebooting display, instead of putting up with all its problems.
What issues did you have with the Camry? My daughter has a 2018, so far it has been great but it's just the LE...screen seems fine, she hasn't complained.
@@TheCarGuyOnline Not much of anything worked right in the car. Mine was a LE. The display would reboot, at least, weekly. Most of the time after driving a few minutes, sometimes later. I'd notice it most at night. I might have turned on the radio a hand full of times in the year and a half I kept it so I don't know if the radio stopped. It would lock up for several minutes if I played MP3's so I didn't bother with it anymore. The dealer said there were complaints from others for doing the same thing but mine had the latest updates and because of how expensive the display was they needed Toyota approval to replace it. Transmission problems like shifting hard and slipping going uphill with cruise. It felt like the engine would die out for a split second. The dealer said it was normal for the transmission to do that. It smelled like it was overheating and dumping antifreeze after shutting it off during the summer. Another normal for the 19 and 20. I'm sure I had one of the tens of thousands bad castings Toyota put out then but mine didn't fall into the VIN for it. The problems never stopped. Just when I thought nothing else could go wrong, something new would happen. I hated that car. I was a Toyota fan until I bought that 2020 Camry and learned how people with bad cars were treated. I had three other Camry's before that. Except for my 07 all were great cars. I put new rings in the 07 and drove it another 200k miles without any major problems. Back then I didn't know Toyota put out bad engines. I bought my first three used and loved them. My 2020 was my first new one.
I think the deals are getting to the right point...not sure how much more room to drop there is...unfortunately, many people aren't in a position to buy anymore...other life costs get in the way. OEMs need to hold this for the next 3 months...start the year off right...then adjust once new administration directions start to take effect.
You are correct. My homeowners insurance just jumped $2000/year, everything else is so inflated, it's tough to buy right now for a lot of people. Let's hope they drop just a bit more and hold out like you said. I'm sure they are banking on tax season to boost them again.
I live in Phoenix If you drive aggressive & you have a turbocharger you can accelerate hard about 3X after that they get heat soaked & your shit out of luck because it drives in limp mode & takes forever to cool down because the ambient air is so 🔥... In the summer around 120° I've measured the asphalt 173° with my RC car temp 🔫... My 3rd gen Tacoma TRD off-road 4X4 is rough around the edges but it's a solid truck it's really good off-road whenever I need to take it out camping or fun with friends out shooting, I put sumo spring bump stops so it does not sag when I tow the 3,000 trailer or rattle on washboard 🛣️ & I tuned it so it's not so anemic & lethargic feeling also I have the manual transmission I've read many stories & seen videos of people over 300K with minimal repairs & nothing to the engine nor transmission.. look up 300,000 mi Tacoma here on RUclips, tell me that's not 1 hell of a wild story It's about a 7-8 minute video.
That's crazy...173 on the asphalt. I drove through Arizona a few years ago and it was 127 in one area, my daughter thought she was going to die when she got out of the car LOL.
Local dealer has 300 Tacomas/Tundras in total. Unless they're selling this overpriced crap at -40% off, I'm still not buying. My 11 yr old 4Runner will probably outlast the next gen 2025 4Runner as well.
2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma….🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 It’s a garbage pickup from Toyota Motor Corporation. Same goes for the Tundra and the new 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Wait or buy a Nissan Frontier or buy a Mazda SUV.
The best deals in my opinion are the Chevy Colorado or Nissan Frontier...which would you pick?
Frontier all day long.
I think I'll just go with Peterbuilt 589, it fulfills my middle aged nature of annoying my neighbors with who has a bigger truck
The only one I'd even remotely want is the Frontier, Tacoma currently isn't worth the risk.
Yeah the Frontier prices are pretty decent, and the best interest rate for sure...and likely the most reliable out of the bunch.

5% is a very good deal, have not seen that rate in a while on used. How are you liking the P4X?

I did not know that, thanks for the comment and info.
Thanks for your clear and simple videos
Got a 2024 Frontier PRO 4X 3 weeks ago. I was able to negotiate 7,500. Great deals if you have the patience, and do your research.
I’d buy a Gladiator!

Yeah I am in CA looking to buy a taco or a colorado. These prices are like 4-5K more here. Still so surprised how expensive a taco is now a days.
@@thefranz5276 yeah it’s definitely higher than the competition

It's hard to beleive you can't get a manual / stick shift transmission in a truck anymore. So disappointing.
The Tacoma does still have a manual, it's a little detuned but people like it a lot.
@@TheCarGuyOnline I wish the Nissan Frontier still had the manual tranny. Bring back the manuals!!
@@TheCarGuyOnline I wish the Nissan Frontier still offered a stick shift manual. Save the manual transmission!!
amazing video as always. And Thanks for the shout out.
Yo bad they didn’t incluye the P4x

Dude what's up with Interstate Ford in Dacono sitting on Rangers for 6 mos and refuse to do any significant price drop?

Save yourself the headache and just buy the Nissan Frontier.
