The lead singer here was a roadie for the Cure and has an interesting relationship with the band. If I recall during their last concert for Pornography when everything fell apart, Gary came on stage and started saying the Cure was dead, Robert ended up throwing drumsticks at him. Im assuming they made up, because sometime later on he was able to get Robert and Simon to reconcile over a pint of beer and they be friends again. After simon left the Cure the first time he and Gary formed a band called Fools Dance. Gary passed away in 2013 and Robert gave a shout out to him at one of their concerts at the time.
I love Lol, but he did not contribute anything on kiss me kiss me kiss me, which means he was already gone by 1987. He didn’t even played keyboard on Just Like Heaven.
@@RobertSmith-wk1kh yeah, I believe it was Roger O’Donnell who brought the keyboards hard on Kiss Me, as anyone can see the massive jump in synths used by the band on that album when he joined, and compared to Lol’s earlier keyboard work it’s clearly a different approach. Idk if he contributed at all, but his contributions on that one were definitely more minimal. Edit: though that’s not to knock Lol, I love his contributions to the band’s earlier work, including his sparse and austere drumming on the “real trilogy” (17 Seconds, Faith, Pornography).
Roger was brought in because Lol was too drunk all the time, he couldn’t even play the keyboard. I don’t know why Robert said the rest of the group was shocked…it was Pearl and Borris who threatened to quit if Lol was still around
A lot of Lol's contribution to The Cure has almost been written out as if he was just a lucky bugger tagging along on the coat tails of others. He wrote and co-wrote songs on the first 4 albums, some of his songs might surprise people.
@@RobertSmith-wk1kh Sorry, but that's true Lol doesn't have talent. I hate days back when he demanded to mr. Bob Smith I'm not wrong Mr. Smith said it once that he didn't know how to play including drums .. Oh yeah. you're right I remember now "He plays other instruments"
Lol can play drums, though it is telling that he had to even get another keyboard player for Presence. Levinhurst, on the other hand, is indeed his baby, and he has come a long way.

Thank you for this!!
The Cure was never the same after Laurence Tolhurst was gone. Disintegration was a great album, but after that The Cure were never quite as good.
I agree.
true the dark songs were never as potent.

Sad, I'm glad Robert and Lawrence forgave each other. Growth its called.
The lead singer for this band was trying to sound like Robert. What A cad.

Rapido was so good. Lol… mate there’s just no excuse for that hair.
COMO SE LLAMA LA BANDA
Presence
Looks like his band after The Cure is a semi copy of them.
IMO, The Cure went down hill after the sacking of Lol. And I say this as someone who was endeared with the The Cure since the mid 80s.
You must be joking?
