- EDIT: PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS WAS RECORDED SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND SINCE I HAD JUST STARTED READING ON MY CHANNEL THE QUALITY THEREIN SUFFERS FROM MY INEXPERIENCE. AS ALWAYS I WANT TO STRESS THAT THIS WAS READ IN ONE TAKE ON A (FRANKLY) SHITTY MICROPHONE. IT MAY NOT BE PERFECT BUT I STILL HOPE IT HELPS!
Since I'm starting to add more verbal pieces to my collection of works and such I figured I would take some poetic or narrative excerpts from various lectures that I enjoy (for various reasons) and narrate them, with full credit to the original authors of course. So whether you want to hear this piece in the spoken word, whether you need to listen to this on the go for a class or if you just like the sound of my voice... here ya go; Walt Whitman's "The Body Electric".

The last stanza is one of my favorite pieces of poetry I’ve read.
No, young man. This reading of yours does not need nor suffer any betterment. Your youthful drive bubbling from it, your abandon and belief in the Word read (even with the rare and small reading mistakes which you so endearingly betray by the subsequent slight hesitation in your blushing voice - or rather: because of them) conquers me completely. A good poet who is not ashamed of his verse will read it loud himself to himself and to kindred souls - and his lack of expertise will be fully made up for by his authenticity. So it is with you. The authenticity that shines from the sound of your reading will have been greatly appreciated by Whitman himself, who is not just a great poet, but great among the greatest. With admiration, M.L.

Missed (or didn't know?) the word "comeliness."
Maybe this one would be worth re-reading, slowing down, replacing the file with one without errors. I know it has been a few years, but if the reader comes across this, please consider a slower re-do. Speeding up after a while made it sound like reading an index, more than like poetry.
Most parts were beautiful, though.
Thanks for the feedback, I very much appreciate it and agree! When I was first starting out with these read-throughs I didn't take my time as much as I should and as a result it may sound sloppy. May not replace this (only as I'm not sure I'd be able to without losing the views and likes and such) but anything I read nowadays I make sure sounds MUCH better. Thanks again!

The body is not the soul; you are wrong. The body returns to dust, just as it says in the Bible. When Jesus comes back and takes us to Heaven, we will have eternal bodies, just as it says in the Bible; at least, those who are born again, through Jesus Christ.
The poet isnt Christian. He has probably heard of the Bible, but has never read it.
