DON'T TRUST THE SCAMMERS AT THE PYRAMIDS / VISIT GIZA / EGYPT TRAVEL VLOG / TRAVEL EGYPT IN 2021

- So I finally made it to the Pyramids of Giza. It is the second time I visit them but this time all the scammers and pushy touts did make my trip a lot more uncomfortable as I was mainly getting out of the way of these guys than actually enjoying the atmosphere. It is mainly about camel, horse or wagon rides this is about, but also about selling you souvenirs all the time. Essentially I though the pyramids are going to be empty due to the Corona virus pandemic that is still going on in the world - that was a wrong notion, it was actually full with people, making it even harder to believe that so many scammers approached me. These may not even be the worst people and it is not that much money I am talking about but still: We are talking about money for a one hour horse ride that exceeds daily wages of regular Egyptian people - just because they can and tourists will go for it.

Ive just came home from Egypt, and scammers, hassling people were also a huge factor in my trip there. It was my childhood dream to visit Egypt, but I regretted to go there. Actually these ancient sites, like Abu Simbel, or Dahshur were pretty awesome, but scammers and pushy vendors killed the enthusiasm, in the end I wanted nothing else just to come home. Egypt is a very depressing country for a western tourist in my opinion, because of these factors.
Yes I can understand that. I like the regular places in Egypt, not the touristy sites...
How can u ignore them or make them go away?

As usual, "comedy is king" on this channel. You really disarmed the pyramids scammer with the exchange: he pretends you're Egyptian/ you believe he is Norwegian. The guy totally forgot his scamming script. LOL.
😂😂😂😂 yeah, he did

🤣🤣😂😂
I always wanted to visit Egypt but after watching several RUclips videos, such as this one, I realized that I will be spending most of my time arguing with pushy scammers. It's a shame that these obnoxious peddlers are destroying the vacation experience of many eager tourists! I've been to many places around the world. Egypt is definitely the worst when it comes to pushy people!
Egypt passed a law on April 23, 2018 to protect tourists against these scammers. Anyone harassing tourists at archaeological and historical sites could be fined up to *10.000 pounds* (565 USD). However looking at this video... I get the impression nobody is actually enforcing this law.

@@JohnDoe-bf9em Yeah good lies. Are you arab?
bunch of scammers. Will never never visit Egypt again. I already warned my whole family and showed them these videos. Never again.
@@_trust9994 Understandable! The only people deserving to go there are western women.
You need to visit India. This looks like a walk in the park. It’s all part of the experience. I hate it too, but you need to consider the context. Sometimes you need to put up with a bit of bitterness to enjoy the sweetness. Don’t give up the dream. You can always arrange someone from your hotel, whom you might built some rapport with to guide you and also act as a visual deterrent to ward off imposers, should they become too intrusive.
@@_trust9994 I found out why the police is not doing anything. The lower ranking officers which are actually their to enforce the law. They turn a blind eye for a fee, if they don't pay the fee they risk getting arrested and sometimes even tortured. Fingers broken or ears cut.
The highest ranking officers are not paid off and when they show up almost nobody dares to sell you anything in the street. They get people arrested without blinking a eye. But they don't show up often enough to make a difference.

Yeah, I can relate to that
I just came back from Egypt, the problem is scammers are all over the country. Where ever you go people publicly ask for money. We spend most of our time at Sharm al sheikh where we got scammed the most. So sad such a beautiful country destroyed by such a bad mentality. Getting scammed when you first visit the country is even worse.
Well, it is a problem indeed. The non touristy places are okay and people are very different there. But touristy places are very bad regarding scams.
I thought begging is illegal
@@SpeedcoreFreddy1 I think it varies on the country or where as in area. For example some countries live off tourists. They need to scam or sell or have many tourist come to see whatever the land has to offer in order to pay up stuff for the country. W out tourist the country fails to function. // or it can also be for example in Switzerland where I’m from we don’t really have homeless people or beggars… and scams are a absolute no no or selling false items as well. If you beg on the train or tram you can get a hefty fine or issue with the police. Otherwise outside it’s fine… // depends where and the country and etc

Yes tourist spots are no fun there
You are absolutely correct, Turism in Egypt is the worst place in the world, scammers outnumbered helpers or good people in tourist areas, all scams, and theft, is done in front of the police. As a tourist you are ALONE, left to wolf's to eat you alive.
Turkey would be a better choice if you are looking for history, food and culture. I had the worst experience in Egypt with my wife from arrival to departure.

I don’t understand why the government don’t crack down on this? Egypt is notorious for it, and no one I know ever comes back talking positively about visiting the pyramids. Surely it’s just harming the country and its tourism industry?
Yes, absolutely, they should
Things haven't changed since the mid 80's. I was in the military and stopped there. I swore back then that I would never step foot in that country again. The scammers ruined the visit. Loved the sites but the scammers just made it the worse trip.

I have an advice for every woman who wants to go to Egypt (I am Egyptian). You should not wear tight clothes that highlight the body or open clothes in public places. You should also go with an Egyptian guide because sellers exploit foreigners and take advantage of the difference in conversion from Egyptian pounds to dollars and sell at prices Expensive, and I want to say that Egypt has 28 governorates, and in each of them there are tourist attractions, beautiful landscapes, and wonderful beaches. Enjoy your trip in Egypt
We had Egyptian guides and they were worse
We paid them a fortune

Damn, it's so annoying. They follow you like Aussie flies, never leave you alone haha The only way to get rid of them is to not engage in a conversation with them, the more you respond the more they follow you. I wouldn't even care if they find me rude because deep down they know they are the one's being rude and pushy.
absolutely
Absolutely !! the trick is to completely ignore them, pretend they are invisible. Do not make eye contact, do not nod at them, smile at them or say hello, and absolutely never speak to them.. being rude by ignoring them is the only way to get rid of them! I tell people not to speak with ANYONE who approaches you or initiates conversation with you. It's a shame but it's the only thing that works..
Look them dead in the eye while putting earbuds in enabling full noise cancellation lol
Aussie flies hahahahaha
It’s true, the pushy vendors and scammers are everywhere. The key is to be firm and say no and don’t smile, even shoo them with your hand. It’s very difficult for westerners to be rude and refuse to make small talk, but it’s important in places like this, otherwise you won’t enjoy yourself.
that's right
Would love to see the pyramids up close one day! Think is is sheer exhausting just to field the touts off though they are harmless.

Too many pushy scammers and touts. Very stressful even through watching your video. So different compared to Malaysia where you can go anywhere and explore as you pleased without being hassled by aggressive locals. Very off-putting for tourists.
Yes, very much so. I hope they will find a solution to this problem. Very annoying.
Malaysia is a fantastic place to travel to, very few scammers just a lot of people very (rightfully) proud of their very beautiful country and willing to show it to you. My favourite travel destination, Malaysia is magnificent, so different to Egypt which has magnificent history, but scammers everywhere making it very difficult to travel in hassle free - everything everywhere is hard because of the scammer people.
This is interesting. I loved the Malaysian people. They’re so warm and friendly, but I also encountered my fair share of hassle there. Outside my hotel in Kota Kinabalu (Borneo) there was a pimp lurking in the alleys that would send small children to constantly harass us. They would follow for up to half an hour, constantly yanking on our arms, begging for money. It was very sad because they were clearly being exploited, but were also a damn nuisance! I love Malaysia though and hope I can go back one day!!
You are a kind person. And well done how you declined their offers, they could learn from your manners.
thanks
I am Egyptian and I deeply apologize to you and others for what is happening in Egypt, a very unfortunate scene

Even after all the harassment and hassle with scammers I'm glad I visited Egypt. It was definitely an experience! I would suggest that anyone with patience and stamina should go just because you'll never forget having been to places like Cairo, Giza, the pyramids, the Sphinx, the Nile, Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, etc. You could go to a resort and just stay there but what would be the point? There's sun, sea and sand all around the world. I detested these annoying scammers when I was there, but as time passes I'm seeing it more as a life experience.
Well spoken, I agree
My friend went for the world cup and decided to visit Egypt along the way back to U.S. He left sooner than expected because of the scammers and regretted going.
I can understand that
my plan was to stay 2 weeks but cut ny trip short to 2 days. On arrival at the airport i got detained for 4 hours, camera take away and 250 euro taken Never again wil i come to this place again
All this chaos and scammers will change next year when the Grand Egyptian Museum and new structure/rules for visiting the pyramids area are implemented. Visitors of such unique place should return to their countries with good experience, not memories about scammers..I know they are trying to make a living and I admire their linguistic talents but still, an annoying person is an annoying person no matter what..
Very nicely put 👍
Seems more like a systemic cultural issue
Do you know when it will change exactly? I visited hurghada and luxor 2 weeks ago and it was exactly the same as in this video. Literally everyone wants to scam you.

Don’t talk to them or make eye contact, they won't leave you alone if you appear too friendly and nice to them. Just ignore them and keep walking.
Sure thing, if I am not filming I just tell to go to hell 😃.
This is a good example of how to deal with people. I tried multiple methods…ignoring, swearing, engaging, saying no, then ignoring. The best way is like this guy, say no, keep walking, repeat no, and don’t engage too much and be friendly.
Never accept free gifts, don’t hand your phone or camera over , don’t give anyone your ticket if asked for it in the enclosure. Also the tourism police are near the great pyramid and just mentioning them helps.

Heeey mr Solid Tangent : First u must fixed all the dirty in ur country & clean it all, then u follow kurt on his RUclips.
@@BaderAlbadri-j7g What are you talking about weirdo you don’t make no sense
😄😄😄😄😄😄 poor kurt
@@doctertrafic4254 😂😂😂
This is amazing. I fell for the rides and I am an Egyptian. I chose the convenient than the haggle
Well, of course it is a great thing to take a ride. But you as an Egyptian will get a better price anyway because they know that you know what this should cost I would suppose 😀
😂
Can’t the govt regulate these areas better so these people are banned from tourist sites??? Christ it’s enough to put anyone off!
government seems not to care. There are so many people that won't go because of these guys and certainly not return.
Iv been there, i can relate. Pls dont touch anything unless you wanna buy it.haha. Dont let them take your photo, they will ask you for some payment. ( My experience around the Pyramids)
😀😀😀😀 Yeah, I don't touch anything and I figured they want me to pay them if they take my picture, that's why I declined.
This is the most annoying trap I’ve ever seen and for the 1000 videos on RUclips I never plan on going here in my life. Imagine spending thousands of dollars on vacation to be harassed this bad. No peace. No rest. Just chaos.
Such a shame how much of a nuisance some are . When all you want to do is look learn and leave . Thank you for your videos
Yes that's right
“Are you Egyptian you look Egyptian” 😂 these people
😂😂😂 Yeah, the old "Are you Egyptian" - it just doesn't get old.
The little boy was telling you "i want you to take a picture of me" as you have a camera
thanks, I didn't know.
Hi from South Australia.
Loved watching this walk about. Did you know that the Great Pyramid has actually 8 sides not 4..?
It's an incredible creation..
Take care.

Thanks for the info
Happened the same to me and my friends when we travelled to Marocco, what a pity!
Yes it is
The best way to handle Egyptian scammers is to not go to Egypt.
Well, maybe, but then you will not see Egypt. These guys are really harmless I think
So many scammers here. Big scary. Make me feels not coming to this country.
Still a nice country though
