      Heads up ... Most places won't take Egyptian currency. Everywhere, and everyone wanted American currency. I highly recommend bringing a lot of $1/$5.

    This is truly fabulous Trish.
    You've packed so many wonderful images and sequences into your video, with really detailed information to guide people about what you experienced.
    This would serve well as an excellent travel guide, as well as being a very watchable and entertaining video.

    I heard you can't have a sim card in Egypt. How did you use your phone and maps for Internet throughout the travel

    • @Travel-Trish
      @Travel-Trish  5 месяцев назад

      Great question. We have phone service through Google. Google Fi has coverage in Egypt so we were well connected our entire trip.
      If your phone carrier does not have coverage there were stations at the airport to purchase tech to keep you connected.

    Love the video , very informative. May I ask what month was this trip. I’m planning one for next year but I’m trying to avoid the rain and heat there. Thank you in advance.

    • @Travel-Trish
      @Travel-Trish  8 месяцев назад

      We went the first week of February. We avoided all of the heat, it was wonderful. Memphis tours allowed us to completely customize our package. While we were on the cruise all 3 meals were included. On the other days breakfast at the hotel was included and lunch at a local restaurant was included but we had freedom to pick dinner. Each evening before the Memphis rep would leave us they would ask if we wanted to stop anywhere or if we needed anything. Most nights we were so exhausted we just ended up grabbing dinner at the hotel.

      @@lltdesilva9427 they did give us bottled water throughout the day. I packed granola bars for snacking and they proved to be a great choice! We did a lot of walking and worked up an appetite!

    Did you got your personal guide while in Egypt? How much tip per day?

    • @Travel-Trish
      @Travel-Trish  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes we had a personal guide. We had one in Cairo, a different one in Aswan, and a third for the cruise/Luxor. The tips varied based on how long we had them. I was told an average tip was about $20 per person for each day. We also tipped our drivers if they were with us all day. Our Cairo tour guide was good. But the others were excellent so we tipped a bit more.

    Very good video. Do you recall how long it took you to tour Valley of the Kings?

    • @Travel-Trish
      @Travel-Trish  8 месяцев назад

      We didn't spend as much time as I would have liked at VOTK. Out cruise ship came in late so we had to cram all of east and west Luxor into one morning instead of 2 days. We went to Valley of the Kings first thing right when it opened. There were no lines, no waiting and no crowds. We spent a total of about 90 minutes there. Queen Hatshepsut was next. That too had no crowds yet as it was still early and that took about an hour. Karnak by far took the most time and needed the most time. It is a very large area to explore and it is crowded so it was harder to move around.

    • @Travel-Trish

      Not all meals, but most meals. If at any time we wanted them to stop or needed recommendations they were happy to arrange that for us.

    how much was the whole trip?

    • @Travel-Trish
      @Travel-Trish  6 месяцев назад

      We paid $1599 per person to Memphis tours. We spent another $75 on food and drink each person. Tips totaled per person about $100. Plus all the souvenirs we all got.

    You really should have gone to Seti the 1st and Ramses V & VI, not to mention Nefertiti. Those tombs are the BEST. I will be there shortly and friend just got back. He raved about the tombs I just named.

    • @Travel-Trish
      @Travel-Trish  9 месяцев назад

      We would have loved to see all of them! Which tombs are open rotate and Seti I was a substantial upcharge. The ultimate deciding factor was time. Our cruise ship arrived very late and we had to cram all of East and West Luxor into one morning. Next time we will be sure to hit all of those and do Valley of the Queens :)

      I think when you travel anywhere you need to take precautions to be safe. I can tell you there were several people there from Asia when we were there and we all had a great time. I had concerns about safety before I went, and I am glad I overcame that fear, because it was the best trip of my life.
