Can’t say enough good things about this channel. Love the chill vibe and the lack of obnoxious humor, music or edits to add fake energy. Love the advice you have for photography, and the neighborhoods you explore. And best of all, your images are really excellent which must be tough to get while also filming content.
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you like our style. I am also not a fan of the fake energy. I just want our walks to feel like real life. To me, these places are interesting in enough as it is. Thank you for liking the photos. I was a bit unhappy with the ones from this session, but it's all good. The walk was fun and I went down some streets I've never set foot on before, which is always a victory in my mind. :)
That little corner taken over by plants reminded me of the movie "Tokyo!" that I just watched, and also shows an entire house completely wrapped in plants.
Another chill leisurely stroll in an urban environment. Thanks for bringing us along. I may add I like how you set up the screen when presenting your photo samples. Having shooting info (white on black) to the side and not within photo is excellent. So much easier to read. Thanks.
Again, great video ! I love to go out and just walk and shoot. By the way, just added to my kit a z14-30 f/4S. Can't wait for you to try this beauty ;)
I have been struggling not to buy a new Ricoh GRIII because I know I will not have time to play around with it while already having a Nikon Z9. But last night after watching your channel taking street photos with the mighty Z9, I am now quite confidently happy with my Z9 and will go out to the street for a photo walk to take some streetlife photos with my 20mm 1.8G and 50mm 1.5G. By the way, I really love the way you presented in your videos for such street photo walk by adding a final shot with exif info after shooting a scene. Subscribed and liked.
Watching your videos will never not be interesting! They’re a view into a totally different culture than mine. It’s amazing to see how all the busyness just sort of works. It’s crazy to me haha.
I spent a lot of time in this area so this video was a major nostalgia trip! Plus it's nice to see that Yokohama Station continues to exist in its perpetual state of expansion and/or renovation. For a future video, I highly recommend Kawasaki. The streets east of the station have great red light district vibes!
It's always great watching your process and how you explore and capture. I've learned so much from you over the years and am grateful for the individual attention you've always provided. When you're simply walking around or on your travel excursions, do you use lens filters or do you prefer to not add another layer of glass to your lenses? Thanks.
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad to hear the videos are educational and useful to others! I basically don't use lens filters unless it's for adding a fun effect like a glow mist filter or something. :)
Yokohama was definitely a different vibe. I really enjoyed this video. The scene by the river, the arched bridge, and the train going by was speaking good vibes to me. And then there was a dingy, blue metal bridge that could have worked as a leading line to a building across the river, full of japanese kanji, that you completely overlooked. I think something else caught your eye. And how could you have missed those shoes on the water(electric) meter?? Glad Axel spotted those. Anyway, great video. Loved the vibe, and yes, keep the sound of the camera on. Definitely helps us viewers know when you clicked.
Thank you so much!! Yeah I overlook stuff all the time, even when I'm not on camera (though that makes have more tunnel vision). It's why I often go back to same place again and again! With the shoes I was so enamored with the plant life and the vivid blues. These kinds of things suck me in. The shoes are just a bonus. :)
Why?? Why are people so obsessed with the camera and this statement???? I keep hearing it. The truth is that I enjoy using it. That is all. I am not preaching anyone else should.
Not a “dumpy” vid, Lukasz 😊. Challenging to capture sense of place, but IMO the post gives viewers a credible taste of the city (industrial). Are night shoots of the city on tap? (Thinking about the train and river.) Did you find that folks in Yokohama have a distinctive accent from residents of Tokyo? Fav images include 12:26 (silhouette of guy down steps w/perspective), and 1:37 (hanging banners). Thought you might have tried for a few images of the guy whose bike broke. Scavenger hunts are sometimes a camera club mainstay. Perhaps the topic would make for a good YT series - e.g., let viewers suggest items for the hunt and see what you find photographically. E.g. Pepsi Cola vending machine. No? Cheers!
I think Yokohama at night is even better and in fact we we're going to shoot a part 2 on this day but it start pouring rain right after wrapped this part. Shooting in the rain is very difficult for Axel with the gimbal and we were not ready for it so gave up. We'll come back another time! I don't think people have a different accept in Yokohama, but it's hard to say for me. Scavenger hunts is a fun idea! :)
This was a really cool place to see. Someday when I can visit Japan I'll definitely add photographing Yokohama to the list. Thanks again for the excellent content. :D
Thank you so much! I generally don't edit much, but sometimes I do a bit more. Never anything beyond just the raw edit (no Photoshop). I really enjoy editing! :)
I prefer it because it is more 'predictable.' The evaluative mode (Nikon calls it Matrix Metering) weighs the focus point pretty heavily. Since I use 3D Tracking all the time, it effectively makes it 'semi-spot-metering' which I really don't like. The Average mode just averages everything in the scene, so I can easily predict what the camera will do given a particular scene.
@EYExplore Got it. Thanks. Will that make huge difference only for 3D tracking or for the other normal focus modes as well while evaluating a scene. I have got Nikon Z7ii recently, and I normally shoot on Av mode with single point AF/wide area AF (small), so I just wanted to know which metering mode evaluates the scene in a better way
@@jamesgjurovich7893 LOL, I love the economy question to a photographer. I have no idea what will happen but here is what I do know: the BOJ raised rates last week and that strengthened the yen a lot and crashed the Japanese stock market (and other markets too). But since then the yen slipped back down a bit. I think the yen strengthening is dependent on the the US FED lowering rates, but who knows when that will happen. ;)

Would love to see something from Fukuoka, if life takes you around those parts. Feel like it's a good city to just explore more spontaneously. There's a spot I saw in Connor and Chris's latest stream(CDawgVA and Abroad in Japan), by the river, which seemed to have some potential, at around the 54 minute mark. Anyways, really enjoyed this foray into Yokohama, which I don't really have a good handle on. Nice chance to learn more!
Maybe some day, but it would have to be a deliberate trip to shoot a video. It's the only way both Axel and I will go to such a place together haha. Anyway, thank you so much!! :)
maybe one day you can change the shutter sounds to something custom, like gunshots, that would make a funny video. I totally understand the "disgust" of using a fake sound on a silent camera, generated engine sounds in electric cars are usually also pretty stupid.
