so glad to see graphics deprioritised in gamers minds, Id like to see more of a wide shift to gameplay > graphics, the chasing of hyper realism is really hurting the industry
Yeah, of course realistic / amazing graphics would be ideal, but it usually comes at the cost of good quality gameplay, which is not a good trade-off. What use is cutting edge graphics if the game feels trash to play and is missing so many features?
Idk what you mean tetris is begging for ray tracing
It's also a fktonne more entertaining to see Minecraftian Paint the Town Red ass looking characters drag downed soldiers to safety to revive them when a heavy firefight is going on. XD
@@keepyourselfsafe1386 the more graphic intensive the game is, the less fps you get.
This game doesn't quite have Bad Company 2 energy, but it does come close. Very impressive for a dev team of 3 people.
It's more towards the feeling of just 'Battlefield 2' mixed with "Joint Operations", plus of course the destructible environments.
As awesome as it is that a project like this can blow up so hard, the visual and audio fidelity has always been a distinctive part of Battlefield for me, and it really does enhance the experience. That said, it really looks like the gameplay holds up, and I'm really looking forward to picking this up!
Hope this game is a wake-up call for DICE and EA
battlefield fans in general will like this game
I think at just before 17:00 you hear exactly what made the old Battlefield games so amazing (2 was my experience as well for sure). You're not spending your time recapping individual games won or even stunts you pulled as a player, but instead the journey you go on to accomplish victory or loss. The long stalemates, the collective pushes around back, the flanks on the a certain alley. I think part of what might've made Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, and 2's design *irrelevant* in today's competitive FPS scene was its inability to reconcile a mass of people who wanted either a more sociable casual experience (Team Fortress 2) or a currently-fun-to-latch-onto individually competitive experience (even if allowed teamplay), like Call of Duty or Titanfall 2, both games that have team modes but feel so much more drive by your individual accomplishments.
Battlefield 4 onwards I feel started losing some of the sense of scale through some really minute details that didn't change in the gameplay that much, but felt drastic in the face of a lot of visual overhauls. Being incapacitated was always quick and frenetic in these games, but I feel like the chase for fidelity meant suddenly your death felt less telegraphed than ever in the face of a lot of effects happening all at once. It became too hard to keep track of. (don't get me wrong, a sniper in Battlefield 2 is impossible to see, but still, something changed from 3 and 4 onwards even though much of the mechanics kinda felt the same)
I'm someone who's staunchly against the recent trend of making games that look like garbage on purpose, mostly for nostalgia. This looks something that is low poly in order to squeeze everything they can out of it and to allow accessibility which is awesome.
11:52 - This was already established in "Joint Operations" (2005).
Shoutout to people that blast funny/good music on the mic tonadd onto the experience! Fun over competitive anyday!
Shoutout to the mute-button!
@@michaelmonstar4276 you do you man! I'd rather play the game like it was battlefield bad company days all over again! So fun!
If I didn't suck so bad with m/k I'd have a better time lol
burned by 2042 but it did a lot of 2042 things?
anyone know how accurate the reviews complaining about hackers are?
I've put in around 10 hours so far, haven't seen any cheaters but I know GMs are very active with banning people, there's a global message everytime someone gets banned so they're pretty good about checking.
It's not terrible but they do exist. The devs have stated they'll be switching away from EAC to FaceIt for anti-cheat, we'll just have to see if that works as well as they hope.
@@EncartaCDROMBoxsetare they a security risk or is it just shit like auto-aim?
I've seen tons of people perma banned for cheating but i never felt i encountered them in battle, they are adding FACEIT so that should make the situation even better but i've never had an issue
@@EncartaCDROMBoxset - The exact reason why I'm not buying. - No Linux-support is anti-consumer, as much of a "minority" that is. And that on a platform like Steam, as Valve is absolutely pro-consumer/accessibility, pushing for Linux and Mac. - Extremely ironic. - I get the cheating-issue, but there must be another way.
"kid's first massive multiplayer shooter" Are you forgetting about Fortnite?
perfect video timing
Loved the game during playtesting, but once they're implementing that FACEIT nonsense, I couldn't play it anymore, so... Not buying. - Also wonder what Valve would do about it if I purchase and play it now, then they implement FACEIT, and it doesn't work on my OS anymore... It would basically be a bait and switch, albeit an informed one for those who know. - And Steam Deck users are screwed as well.
2:28 - No accessibility if you run Linux.
2:31 - Not if you run Linux.
(Yes, I will keep hammering on this.)
This game looks fun! I understand being burnt by 2042, however I didn't play at launch and only started messing with the game when it came out on Gamepass and it's a lot of fun when you have very little to put in. This looks like a blast too, hopefully I can snag a couple friends to join in on it with me!
Yeah try the game!!! Its awesome. It's more hardcore than bf but you'll learn pretty fast and it is no doubt very fun
Looks really damn fun
I haven't seen any in the 30 hours I've played so far
noclip doc on battlebit when
You should really check out Squad.
As a longtime Battlefield player, the time to kill in this game seems too fast.
This game actually leans towards "realism", believe it or not. - If you get hit by a bullet, you'll start bleeding out until you patch up or get patched up, and health doesn't regenerate either. - If you just get riddled, you're basically dead, or at least downed until you get revived. - That said, they're still tweaking this game, as it's not nearly finished yet, and there are plenty of complaints about the balancing of the weapons and such, which will surely be addressed. - But they're not going to make it like you could withstand whole seconds of getting pumped with lead. This is not that kind of game.
@@michaelmonstar4276 You’re right, it’s not that kind of game, but Battlefield is. I just think it’s a misguided decision for a game that's being sold on its similarities to the Battlefield series to toss aside the slower TTK that said series is known for. Or, at least the series from BF3 onwards. I haven’t played any of the games before that so I can’t comment on them.
I wonder by how many people over how much time this game was developed...
3 people over 7 years. it was said multiple times in the video
@@alexeames1559- Exactly…
the game looks fun but for a team of 3 overlooking a game that hosts 200+ ppl on a server. its gonna be rife with cheaters in a week or so
It will be anyway considering this game will probably explode in popularity. - They're trying to implement FACEIT, but I've read mixed things on its effectiveness, plus that would rule out Linux for those who actually choose the correct OS.
Its 2023, no destructable terrain in any game other than roblox 2
I just play older Battlefield Games. The servers are still online.
9:37 - Oh, just wait a few months for the toxic bigots to stream in... Another reason I'm holding off. - It's all well-intended people at first, until the ill-intended ones catch wind of something good.
People are really wearing this "I got burned by Battlefield 2042" badge, huh. - Print a shirt already.
