Do you need both ports connected to the switch? Lost it somewhere? Each one with a different ip address? Didn t quite get it why it needs both ports? At 16:10 since login is required for web access is disabled by default, how come and let you login? Nah.... don t bother to answer the first question.... at 14:25 you gave the answer rj45 to serial cable wasn t needed or if it was it was a one time only until you give the ups a static ip.
I installed one of these cards in my Eaton UPS, i also had some trouble setting it up :-P But it works now and turns off my computer and NAS after a few minutes if the power goes out. :-)
@@MyPlayHouse I need that and I cannot find any manual, can you share how you can do that? I haven't bought the card yet so I cannot check if it is working.

@@MyPlayHouse oh I have joined... currently eyeing up server #4 that I have absolutely no use for and a bigger rack space... just dont tell the missus! lol and greetings from Australia!
Welcome to the darkside, as Morten put it, lol. ;-) Just be careful. All this server stuff is addictive, and before you know it, you have a rack full of servers and equipment.
You could connect the serial cable to a sever. I think most ibm/lenovo servers have serial port. The nice of have a management card you can automatically shutdown your servers when battery is low with the correct software.. at least with apc ups
That was great surprise, to see, that DHCP was enabled by default.. 😂 Cool, that network module works as it should. 👍 Empty candy papers at the end, make me laugh..
Its kinda weird that connecting the NMC needs to shutdown connected peripherals, usually its possible to connect the card while running- tested on APC/Schneider, ATEN, Eaton (Dell, HP, IBM, Eaton itself), this card looks very much like one of these (most likely ATEN one).
I don't know the brand, but this model seems very old-tech. modern devices you can set to bypass and then connect it, but we're talking about the XP age ;) also at ruclips.net/video/V2p-xwPR8jc/видео.html it says output rating 230V, but it manages to make the bad 235V even worse to 236V so my guess is that it's not very feature-rich, but old weird tech never stopped morten from playing with it ;)
@@MyPlayHouse Actually I thought about it while watching the video- you could pull the server that rests on top of the UPS little bit forward on rails, so you could have like 7U of workspace in the back :-)
@@MyPlayHouse It protects the privacy by not logging anything AND protects against malware, phishing, spyware and botnets sites. Have it deployed in a few locations, including a small hospital.
Haha, it of course couldn't work if you connected the Serial Connection through an Ethernet Cable as there's a difference between the order of individual cables (cable veins? don't know how you call them in english) in these two connections Cheers from Poland!
but but you have a million servers in your racks with SERIAL ports? and you had to bring a laptop? :) Also when the card got an IP why did you stay in the noisy server room instead of the living room, to many empty. pizza boxes? :) Anyways I bought my Management cards to my APC UPSs on eBay, I paid like 300 SEK for one and 2000 SEK for the other. Well I would have liked to not have wasted two hours getting the serial connection working 😬
UPS Network managment card.. I just Bought one for my 2200w APC Ups ..lol. Cool Video !

As I have said before, I enjoy ALL your videos Morten. I also love lollies that's what we call them in West Australia (candy or sweets else where).
Thank you very much,,, I know there is a audience for both kind of videos! 🤗

i don't mind the rebuild of the playhouse !!!
I do not either.. but I would like it to go a lot faster 🤗
Those PowerWalker units look a lot like Eaton stuff. Including the network/management card.
Yes so I’m told 😬 and I do see the resemblance.

wow i surprised the NMC card would mention such an outdated OS i need to one day get one for my server to keep her going temporarily
It did do later OS,, but it said XP, so we did that 🤗
Do you rent out your servers or do you just use them as a homelab?
He answers this in an faq in the about tab on his channel
This is my home lab,,, and then I started making RUclips videos,, and that has kind of taken over.
Ah, I've just received my PowerWalker 2000VA UPS, but this management interface doesn't want to go all the way in :(
Update: Pulled it back out really carefully using two levers, and tried again with success.
That reminds me,, I should be looking for a bigger one...
i miss Windows XP. it still has it usage in 2021. people laugh at me when i use Windows XP for the old Serial connection
