Before Zion williamson there was Larry Johnson
zion is more athletic than larry johnson
@@dontropical6405 dont be ridicilous!!!
@@SimbaLabrador he is tho
Horace Grant Zion is more athletic
Johnson + Wilkins = Zion
Before the back injury he was on his way to an almost hall of fame career. College championship, nba all star. Zion actually reminds me of prime LJ.
Not as fundamentally sound, but more athletic
The Isolated Male He Brought Conference Championship to New York City , World Cup champion and ncaa champion. My #2 after Patric Ewing
Larry Johnson was more complete. mid range jumper was smoother. Zion is young, he will learn.
I’m sorry but I was a kid while Larry Johnson was coming up and while he was a blue chip player and All Star level talent, Zion is in another world as an athlete, and might have already surpassed him in terms of the finer points in his game too. The game is a lot different now.
@@forw4rdp422
Zion has none of Larry Johnson accolades. He didn’t win a national championship. He wasn’t rookie of the year, hell he’s never averaged 20-10, never been to the playoffs……….let him do something before he’s instantly put above a proven player. Bro, can’t even stay in shape and he’s 21?!
Larry Johnson was so underrated. He was a monster. I remember when i got his "91 fleer rookie card. I was so happy. Lol
Still have mine!
Underrated 77 He Brought Conference Championship to New York City , World Cup champion and ncaa champion. My #2 after Patric Ewing
Me too bro, me too
Lol. LJ was never underrated.
I think you’re getting mixed up he wasn’t a monster the monster was those people who stole his powers
This music is literally perfect... fits so well
LJ was one of my all time favorite players. Him and Larry Bird and Sean Kemp! I graduated in 1998 so i experienced the greatest basketball era growing up in the 80s and 90s. 1 love
hands down the greatest era of ball
@@TowDow3 fax
Which decade do you prefer? I was born in 84 so I mostly know 90s
Class of 90’ Kaua’i High!! I had it better 🫠 I kid
LJ kemp and bird! Same favorite, including shaq and zo 😀
If Larry Johnson had a love for boxing like he did for basketball he would have been the heavyweight champion of the world .. Larry Johnson was a golden gloves champ .
I didn’t know that, Dope
@@kingchino6179 Right there with you.
😮😮😮I ain’t know that. grand ma ma was a fuckin beast
Didn't see those skills when he fought Alonzo Mourning haha.
@@darrellwilson1419 zo was fighting scared as hell...lol
This is the right comparison for Zion
Eh, I absolutely idolized Larry growing up. I ditched the Hornets for the Knicks when he was traded even. Watching this video is bringing back SO many memories!...But, Already, Zion is a better player lol.
Joseph Williams He Brought Conference Championship to New York City , World Cup champion and ncaa champion. My #2 after Patric Ewing
@@matthoward598 hard to say that yet. Zion got more hype. Larry was crazy good his rookie year. Better rebounder, passer, shooter, handle and post up game than Zion, just not the three which is a product of his era. And although Zion is a bit higher and longer jumper than LJ, his quickness and especially his first step isn't the same speed as LJ nor is his wingspan as long.
Vitor Hara come on even Zion himself. Paid respect to Larry. Larry Can Get The Ring If He Wasn’t Injury on his back. He is world champion with dream team
@@junit7590 Zion is quicker and way more twitchy with the first step 🤦🏾♂️... C'mon son.
he was an athletic freak
i love these mixtapes
Pure physicality as its finest! Miss this kind players in todays NBA
Such charisma packed nicely in a parcel of bulk muscle, golden tooth and a smile LJ 👑👑👑
Signature gold tooth and middle path....
That gold tooth gave him those powers
I've always wanted one
Pure 80s baby pure 80s the gold tooth I'm talking about
I wouldn't be surprised if he had 4 finger rings also
Brandon Braithwaite He Brought Conference Championship to New York City , World Cup champion and ncaa champion. My #2 after Patric Ewing
@@jaywebb3967 he was born in the 70s
This Zion people don't want to see it
Zion is grand ma ma's son
uncle zion
Zion is zion
Agreed. I said that 2 months ago
Damn that's good comparison
One of the most exciting players in NBA history!
Should be zions draft comparison
like if u agree
Your an idiot.
that's grand mama
Ithought this when I first saw Zion... LJ reincarnated!!!
IWinslogswimp I agree. Him or Barkley
@MrBrenman21 Larry Johnson's nickname. He was in a Converse commercial where he dressed up as an old lady.
This is my favorite player as a kid. I still have like 20 cards in protective casings of Larry Johnson.
Man was a BEAST ✊🏾
Peep LJ had style tho. The gold tooth the growl after the Dunk. Dude was the total package for marketing. GrandMamaa!
Can't forget the haircut
Growing up in Charlotte when Larry was drafted was awesome. UNLV’s run in the 90’s was some of the greatest basketball I’ve ever seen
Had his jersey and shoes. This dude was my favorite player besides "The Reignman" Shawn Kemp. 👏😌🔥🔥
Agreed.
zislec Understood! U have great taste👍🏾. I miss this type of ball. There were so many dope matchups on any given night. Smh
Coop Davyl ... yup I miss these days too 💯 😌👍
Oh I love Larry johnson I have his jersey and I want his shoes so bad
Jalon Mayes I have his retro second pair in the og and black/grey colorways. I want the first pair he had but no retro yet. His second pair dropped before the Jordan VIII and there were talks that Jordan “borrowed” aesthetics from LJ’s shoe. But, now that I think about it, both shoes “borrowed” from the Nike Air Raid🤔...
These highlights aren’t complete without his Knicks years. He changed his game a sign of greatness
Ever heard of the windmill layup?

Up and under
Apo Jukai He Brought Conference Championship to New York City , World Cup champion and ncaa champion. My #2 after Patric Ewing
Loved LJ! Specially when he was in Charlotte.
GrandMama commercials were cool too.
Lawrence johnson, Tyler, TX Charlotte hornets & NY knicks. 6'7" tall, he played PF position, due to his 💪.
LJ is one great player! He was something like Barkley, PF in body of SG.
@@the0dorez3b94 and? LJ is 6'7. They were both well undersized for playing at the 4, yet they both dominated.
Larry Johnson was a straight up BEAST!
The size of him and he moved so smoothly
He made teal awesome. He was awesome before the injuries. 💪
He was definitely a great player.💯
LJ was my favorite player growing up. He's the reason I became a diehard Knicks fan. Van Gundy was quoted saying he was best player he's ever coached. Really wish he never had that back injury. Thanks for hoopin hard LJ! Zion is hopefully going bring me back to the LJ days. Can't wait to watch him play too.
maaaaaan charlotte was LIT AF when him an Zo where ballin out. every time they played the crowd was hype
Larry Johnson , had the most muscular looking arms of anyone I can remember when he flexed after a dunk .
Watch some David Robinson footage...
My favorite basketball player ever!!! I have 38 years old 🔥🐝🏀90's hornets
He's my all time favorite player as well! I remember as a kid playing nba games on super Nintendo and I would only use the hornets because of LJ!
@@MrScott-bs7iv yes, since Larry Johnson my favorite basketball position is powerforward. #2 LJ🏀
@@Edwin-273 I always wore #2 in basketball because of him and now my daughter wears #2 on her highschool team
I often wish we could turn back time and get some of the 90’s Hornets to help out the team today
@@itmejac6945 Bugs, Gill, Curry, Johnson , Mourning and the rest of the 90s team🏀
Lj is the man. Miss the old school
Guaranteed HOF before injury.
Dwane Richardson He Brought Conference Championship to New York City , World Cup champion and ncaa champion. My #2 after Patric Ewing
His prime got curtailed to injury more than Penny's, and Penny's #2 in that department from the 90s.
LJ was before his time. His size and skill set was unheard of back then. Coaches didn’t know what to do with that kind of power on the basketball court. Fast forward to the age of Lebron and Zion...now coaches know to build around them and draw up plays suited for their abilities.
Most underrated star of his time.
LJ doesn't get talked about present day nearly as much as he deserves. He's one like G. Hill, the injuries made him one of the biggest "what if" stories in the game. Always loved Gran-ma-ma! He really played the game the right way.
Grown Man ball - Glenn Robinson, Corliss Williams, and Larry Johnson were on a different planet in college - 3 of the best college players ever in my opinion - REAL GROWN MEN controlling the paint - their pro careers were good but the NCAA careers were 🔥😳 - I feel sorry for anyone that missed these guys play while they were in school (must see TV)
I still remember the junkyard dog Glenn Robinson growing up. One of the meanest pure hoopers of that early to mid 90s era. He was a walking bucket. I used to follow his box scores in the newspaper and highlights and games on ESPN. My how times and technology has changed.
Maaaaan Corliss was a problem in college! Unstoppable
Larry 'The Tank' Johnson! 👊💪
Watching this in my purple LJ Hornets jersey now. Love this. Loved watching Grandmama play back in the day.
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. A freshman in college during LJ's rookie season. 1993-94 and 1996-97 were among the BEST times of my life. This provides context as to when I watched Larry Johnson play.
Charlotte got a great legend Larry
Best highlight video I've seen of any player, that music was right on with every shot🔥
SMMH..Cant stop watching it my All Time favorite!!
You have to another one on LJ. This was nice! Watching him in his prime was a reminder of why I was such a fan of his and the Hornets. Very well done.
I'm 34 as kid I used to love going to the games with my dad, the hive was so alive!
@@eastsideqc Yes, those were some good times!
Those first three or four years in charlotte were the best. Him and kemp were special.
Dayum his rookie year was insane
@@illblahzayill2274 he was rookie of the year. Shaq came the next year which stopped Alonzo mourning getting it
NBA, please, make more of these dope mixtapes.
The Mike Tyson of the NBA.
He & Barkley both were.
This man was special and we had him on the Knicks with a bad back and he STILL PUT IN WORK. One of my all time favorite Knicks.
So many exciting young players came out in the 90s
Such good memories. Much respect to grandmama
I knew him! everytime I held his basketball card... miss them days
Larry was so crafty!!!!! Skills!!!!!!!!!!! Def a GOAT of my childhood!
Highly underrated player
The BEST Larry Johnson highlights video on RUclips!!! 👍👏
That dunk over Vlade was so sick. Nice squad they had in Charlotte with Zo, Mugsy, and Dell Curry.
LJ always seems to catch Vlade with the poster. He had a vicious dunk on him when the Knicks played the Hornets in the 1st round of the '97 playoffs
Very nice. Great move to finish off this video. Thanks for putting this together.
Man I forgot how good he was when he was healthy. He was a nice role player on the Knicks but he was a legit star the first years in Charlotte.
Great time!!
Loving this one thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
Great player, smart tecnical and vicious dunker, epic player and style love nba 90 years.
Love LJ's passion and the way he used to scream after a dunk ala 1:02...🤣🤣
Thank You NBA I Been Asking About this Give LJ 2 Ultimate Charlotte Hornets Highlight Mix Y'all Delivered 💯💪🏿👏🏿💜💙
2:24 I remember staying up late to watch that game in his rookie season. 1992. Crazy finish.
Grew up watching Larry, definitely in my top five players
I like the part where he yelled after doing stuff.
KG used to do that in Minnesota lol I loved it. That raw emotion for the game
This is the best Larry Johnson mix that I seen so far, by far.
Larry Johnson was the best when he played with Muggsy Bogues for the Charlotte Hornets.
First 2 years in the league he was almost unstoppable then the back injury in late 93' he was never the same. Smh
Why haven't Charlotte retired his jersey he is their goat , I would like to see a LJ NY highlight mixtape
Kemba is Charlotte’s goat and it’s not close
Jac ck Kemba? Wtf r u talking about? Not even close he hasn’t got them to the playoffs hardly at all ... this guy led them to the best run they’ve ever had 22 points 11 rebounds n glen rice was a better player than Kemba u just don’t know your basketball
Jac ck a guy that shoots 41 percent for his career is not a goat of anything!! Wake up even in the era of inflated stats he’s not better than Larry Johnson or zo or rice .. glen rice dropping 27 a game in 96 was the best single season for a hornets player n Kemba is little Larry Johnson 21 pt 11 rebounds zo 22 and 11 n Kemba has 25 3 n 5 in a. On defensive era shooting 41 percent for a career in his prime btw by the time he retires his stats will b worse!! 19 pt 3 n 5 right now n by the time he retires it won’t b at those numbers.. u r Tripping because u never saw these other guys play n baron davis ever heard of him?
mansonlamps damn you’re offended as hell. I love all the 90’s Hornets guys but no Hornet has been more skilled than Kemba. You gotta take loyalty to a franchise into the picture too.
Jac ck more skilled? Uh glen rice far better shooter n Kemba shoots 41 percent! That’s awful n Larry avg around same points in Charlotte n shot better from field was a far better defender n rebounder more efficient scorer .. so ? Where’s your skill? He dribbles fancier? U couldn’t get by with that shit in 90s with a hand on your hip dummy! What skill he have that’s better? Glen rice a much better 3 pt shooter and scorer in Charlotte n more efficient scorer better defender n rebounder!! Soooo? U young uns think because u didn’t see people they were no good! People won’t even remember Kemba 20 years from now
My favorite of middle 90’s!!! Last of real Hornets
One of my favorite players growing up.
1. Penny
2. Kemp
3. Johnson
Good Mix up thanks for Edit
This guy is crazy and strong 💪🏾🏀🏀🏀🏀
You had to love LJ's passion. He was always having fun and going hard.
One of the best Hornets ever!
When I see Larry Johnson I see Zion Williamson and vice versa
my favorite players , respect from Poland
Before the back injury made him lose his explosiveness LJ was unstoppable he changed his game after the injury but wasn't the same he went from great to good
I was a huge Charlotte fan as a kid and I'm from Chicago. My friends always made fun of me but I didn't care. It's a shame LJ had that back injury. Thanks for cool childhood memories.
The best NCAA player of all time. These plays are only from him 5 years in Charlotte (199101996), and note that in the 2 first only he did play with his potential. From his 3rd year on, he had a severe back injury and then multiple back injuries, and he never was the same.
I think Christian Laettner played college basketball also
To były czasy. NBA aż kipiała od wspaniałych koszykarzy. Dzisiaj jest tam do wykonania dużo pracy, przede wszystkim dla fryzjerów.
There wil never be a another Larry Jonson
Jack Goodwin Zion?
one of my favorite player growing up.
Larry johnson love nba mixtape
Larry Johnson was a BEAST!!!!
FInaly a Great quality for the video for a Great player !!
excellent work on this mix tape
1:28 Oh wait...😱
1:40 This camera angle in chicago arena it's just priceless 👌
This dude was huge and dunking like a guard
Love this dude coulda woulda been Top 100 of all time 💯
This man was pure energy
One of the original linebacker/ power forwards of the NBA
Where are the higlights of him and Steve Urkel when they won that 2v2 tournament, when they played in finals against Eddy Winslow and The Spider?
LJ was Amazing. A beast
First in the paint and after injury he moves to the wing ang get shoooteer
One of my favorite players of all time UNLV BABY
He was a Great Player
Happy to be a teen during prime basketball 90s best era for basketball anyways too me
My favorite player of all time!
Larry johnson throwback highlight game😃
Who also loves basketball than any other sport?
Jatin Kesarwani I agree but it was definitely Better in the 90s everyone played like Westbrook back then. Angry. I love that shit. Gets me hyped.
Me
@MrBrenman21 i play basketball and soccer also cricket
@@jamesantony3015 no they played defense back then and point gaurds looked for the pass first teenage mutant Ninja Westbrook don't do shit like that
Joseph King2 the games evolved and everybody dont need a passing point guard, I’d argue it’s better when all players on the court can facilitate in some way
