Is Filmhub a good place to get your movie seen? What's the cost?

- Getting distribution for your independent film is difficult, and understanding the difference between a distrubutor and an aggregator is important. And then understanding how it all really works and deciding how to get as many people as possible to watch your movie is the most important part of all.

Hello @Lily Gazou❤
@@TraciesLocalLearnings hi Tracie!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience. The only chance anyone has ever given me for “film” is a public service announcement about SA of children- trafficking in the Tacoma area. I did the sets and props. No budget.
I knew this woman through freelance fashion work- she’s a merch coordinator who I’ve talked to , bonding over our caretaker experiences of parents. She applied for grants and gathered a crew willing to work free or cheaply, found someone to donate a location, a young DP with a camera.
It got some kind of award and she went to Italy for that.
A lot of things happen by social connections. And there are lots of grants available if you know how to search and apply.
Recently someone at work gave me a business card for someone who has a small film company- he was talking to him at a convention for something unrelated, talked me up for my varied skills. This coworker us someone who is divorced with 4 kids and I set him up for a free camping vacation on my friend’s ranch on the mountains. I’m entrusted with keys to various properties.
So… social connections can make a difference and being willing to help others.
@@LilyGazou those grants for the arts are going away fast. I’ve gotten many in the past, but they are about to be ghosted. It’s gonna be devastating for a lot of notfor-profit theaters, independent film companies, etc. Sounds like you’ve been on some very meaningful and important projects. And it also sounds like you’ve had a profound life up until now and I’m certain you’ll do the same moving forward. Thank you for your constant, good energy and all the contributions that you leave here, I don’t take them for granted, I greatly appreciate them. And on top of all a that, I hope you have a beautiful day. :-)
@ the government grants may go away but this area (Seattle/Tacoma) has a lot of wealthy people who have private foundations and they have to give away a percentage each year. Librarians are very helpful for helping research this- they love the challenge.
Thanks for your reply. I’ve started filming things again and taking notes. I want to do a vlog channel to practice speaking- I’ve put that off for years with the excuse I can’t fix my speech problems. You inspired me to try the memorizing and practicing a script method you discussed.
Sad- just found out the Grand Illusion Theater in Seattle is going away after 50 years.
The good news- there is a tiny venue being refurbished in Des Moines, Washington by some musicians and artists. I’ll have to video that.
@@LilyGazou I"ve always relied upon my patrons of the arts in my community more than government grants and artists awards. I have won my share, but my audience has really carried me more when I needed to do a large project. It has always been a collaboration with the streets and parks and abandoned buildings that have walked with me. There is actually a library in downtown Manhattan that is specifically all about finding grants, I have been there a few times, and the people who work there are amazing, for sure. I LOVE that you say I inspired you to do work, that makes me feel honored, and so thank you for that, it's a great gift to me for knowing that, and I can't wait to see what you do. I will tell you this, when you take something you have written, or even if you take someone else's words and master them by putting them inside of your own body, giving yourself the opportunity to share them with other people as if they came from you in that exact moment every time you share, you will have all the confidence in the world because after mastering text like that the words become all yours, and you will speak them as YOU, and no one else, and that is magical. I can't wait to watch. Enjoy the process. And thanks for the good energy, it's everything for me.
They all gaslight 🤦♀️ I appreciate your insight @RockWILK
The more knowledge we share the stronger we will be. Keep on keeping on friend 👍❤ Blessings 🙏🌟

Thanks for the info. I have my film up on amazon but I did it more direct through amazon and only for the UK for now. You might find that less of an headache.
@@dominicpclarke I thought you couldn’t do that. Every time I talk to somebody about this it’s different. I have to investigate it again, maybe you’re just allowed to do that outside of the US now, but I’m gonna check because I know it has gone back-and-forth with regards to independent films. Thanks for letting me know though. I’m gonna start hunting again. :-) Much appreciated.
RUclips is the best because youtube has the most eyes.
for sure, if that's what you're going for, RUclips is the best, BUT... how many people watching on RUclips will watch from start to finish... THAT is the challenge for a filmmaker. It's like screening your film on Main Street, out on the street, or in a bar/restaurant where you can move your attention all over the place. I think people are conditioned to keep it moving after a few minutes, and so when someone watches my entire movie from beginning to end, as it's supposed to be watched, that's a great gift to me, and something unusual for this platform. I, personally approach RUclips in the same way I approach Netflix or HBO, or any movie service... if someone makes art, a film or documentary, a real show, I'm watching the whol thing. And so, I agree with you, but then again... it's complicated here. ;)
@@RockWILK I've seen youtubers paid youtube to promote their one video. RUclips put that video on the homepage/frontpage of youtube and it's marked "sponsored" so you know that it's a paid video by the youtuber.
@ oh, I’m not interested in any of that. :-) If I’m spending money, it’s on my movie or on my life. :-) Not promoting my RUclips video. But that’s just me, I think if you’re a full-time RUclipsr trying to earn all of your money from RUclips, that’s probably not a bad idea, just an investment in your career. So I don’t look down upon that at all.It really just depends upon how you are approaching RUclips.
