ALEX....I SEE YOUR WORLDFEST HOUSTON AWARD HANGING IN UP THE BACKGROUND. GOT A COUPLE MYSELF..CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATIVE UPLOAD! I'M GOING TO GIVE THIS FILMHUB THING A TRY 👍
As I'm about to go through this process soon. This is an awesome video and i'll be bookmarking it and sharing it in the various filmmaking groups i'm in.
Nice video and helpful tutorial! Question here, if you were to make a show and try to submit to film hub would it cost to add each episode on there would they count the episodes as movies or is it only the show they'll count it for? Their new packages seem very greedy so idk if it would be expensive to add a show on there...
I wouldn't think that uploading a series would be any different. The only real cost you are having to pay for is if you want to do any channels yourself that they offer and if you try to make changes are you submit. I don't think the number of episodes or how many movies you upload would change anything.
Watched this video, then I watched "Cashing Out" on Tubi. Thanks for sharing your experience and especially how much money you are making off it. While Hollywood transitions from making superhero movies to spy movies with the same budgets people sometimes just want to see other people's stories. Question: Is this a director's cut? It feels like it. I love the scene where Big Daddy's outside of his home and he looks at his daughter in the window! That's storytelling/directing !!!! I liked that moment for some reason.
We can pretend this is a director's cut haha. I didn't have anyone telling me what to remove, so this version is pretty close to the original script. I appreciate you watching! I enjoy that scene as well. I hope to see more people like me making interesting movies outside of the norm.

What if my film is already on my youtube channel, would I have to take it down in order for channels to pick it up? Assuming I have uploaded it on film hub for distribution. Other than that, thank you for this detailed video explanation it is if not the only video that breaks it down.
Hi Alex, great vid,. Could you do one covering Davinci export settings for FilmHub? I'm really lost with suitable export settings for my movie. I tried a ProRes plugin (as I'm Windows based) but the smallest file size I could produce was 711GB, which is over the 650GB that Filmhub allows.
Hi! Great video! I have a question less about Filmhub and more about Tubi specifically. Do you know if they are required to use every ad/chapter break provided to them? Or does the number of chapter breaks they use vary? I’m developing a film where the placement of the ad breaks would be very important. So, for example, if I were to provide 8 chapter breaks and they only use 5, it could mess with the experience.
I'm not 100% certain, but I don't see why they wouldn't use the provided chapter breaks. They are going to use whatever metadata is given to them, so that should be whatever you provide.
Great video! Question for you I had a north American distributor that bought the film and used Film Hub only in North America can I use Film Hub myself with the same title and choose other territories?
Did the distributor "buy" or "license" you film? If they flat-out bought the film you can not use it. But if they licensed it for "North America" only then you can use it in other territories. Check you paperwork to see if they licensed it for all territories or not.
I made a music documentary and was hoping to put URLs for the artists in the credits. Do you think that URLS would ok just in the credits at the end? Or is that a hard rule?
Avoid any big music, and stick with filmstro, royalty free or music you create yourself or hire someone to create. If you get a copyright strike, it will mean all the channels will likely remove your film, and not allow you to place it back on.
I noticed that you said that a 2 second black screen is necessary before and after but I saw a document that said that a 3 second black screen is necessary. Is the 3 second requirement an older standard. Just trying to make sure before I finalize.
Thanks Paul! Still recovering, but doing really great with that whole process. I've entered BTS photos there, but honestly the poster art is more important. If you have them, great. If not, I don't think it will hurt you.
Bare in mind they also charge streaming services a $15000 a year subscription fee to be on the platform and get indie films. Film makers see none of that.
Yeah, I cancelled my filmhub account last week and took all my titles off it. Just not worth it with the $99 monthly fee as you don't want them managing your titles on Prime Video as they can easily mess up international distribution, which is right now the biggest pull for views in terms of raw #s even though Prime pays garbage third world royalty rates. Better to just place your films on RUclips and Vimeo for free then giving it away for free to these streaming channels that pay pennies every month imo.
If I uploaded the wrong movie file (wrong aspect ratio/resolution) is it best to just do another submission of everything of the same movie even if the other one is licensed or do I need to get old one removed.
The way I uploaded I believe is what’s limiting the platforms it’s on.. the goal was to get on Tubi and has not happened. This film has won several awards at various festivals and so so. Quality wise of the film and everything else it should’ve been smooth and easy to get on there. Licensed back in October. Then I noticed I uploaded the wrong file that capped the film at 1080p and not my actual master file size in full resolution. So definitely want to get that version on there. Just wasn’t sure what happens when you double upload. I’ve contacted support but haven’t heard anything from them. Btw thanks for getting back to me. Appreciate any more insight
@@KevinWelbeck If you are not making a lot now, it may be best to take the film down and start from scratch. It's $99 per platform as opposed to $300 (I think) to take it down.
