  • FDI into China Plummets by 56%: Xi Jinping's Stringent Policies to Blame? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Foreign direct investments (FDI) into China have plummeted by 56% percent in the first quarter of 2024, with Beijing receiving just over $10 billion in foreign investments. This follows China's worst year of FDI investments in 3 decades, when the country managed to get just $30 billion in FDI in 2023. Foreign investors are refraining from committing investments in China as the country suffers economically. Chinese President Xi Jinping reportedly tried to woo foreign investors in March this year, when he met with America's top business leaders. But back at home, President Xi's Community Party is cracking down hard on foreign businesses with stringent policies. Palki Sharma accesses the reason behind the fall in foreign investments in China, and the role the Communist Party and its policies are playing in making matters worse for Beijing's economy.

Many EU companies withdrew from China back in early 2010s, in pursue of US propaganda and believing India as next economic superpower. It turned out as farce and many foreign companies got extorted and looted. German was one of the first who jumped to India and the last few years German had been asking China for help or relocation their business back. China not only prepared for smooth transition, but wiped out some taxes and fees so German companies can regain some of their losses in India. That's why you see German PM flew to China to express their gratitude.

    2. Europe held only USD 1 Trillion
    3. Middle East held USD 800 billion
    4. Latin America held USD 600 billion
    5. Africa held USD 85 billion.
What Peterson worried about was if Asia swapped its 25% of its USD reserve to something else like Yuan or Euro. If that happens, the USA will collapse overnight.

Canada also makes a strong showing, maintaining its second-place rank and forming part of the top five markets for the 12th consecutive year. China jumps from 7th position to 3rd, which could be explained in part by its loosening of capital controls for foreign investors in Shanghai and Beijing in September 2023. And Japan drops from 3rd to 7th, likely reflecting the continuing economic woes of the market, which entered a recession in Q4 2023. Overall, this year’s survey revealed investors’ preference for developed markets, which accounted for 17 of the 25 markets on the Index. However, emerging markets continue to build their presence on the list, with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in particular experiencing meteoric rises from 18th to 8th and 24th to 14th, respectively.

First quarter, China received 10 billion usd FDI.
China doesn‘t really need Foreign Investment, all they need to do is bring home 3 trillion USD asset from America.
10 billion compares to 3 trillion, and you expect China to collapse? Its a joke.😂
