I have the long time sensation that iPhones don't change much and the limitations, in general specially photography, the features of the new iPhone and the previous one is just a software limitation, and it's kind of sad.
Having tried the ridge wallet before it's not very functionable. Folding bills multiple times is a hassle when you want to do quick cash transactions. No pop-up functionality makes shuffling through cards a chore. It's good for a at home rarely used gift card, credit card holder, but not a main/daily wallet
Do you all see the commitment of this woman with her work? She went to all those places to test the camera and gave us this full of life video. It’s incredible!
the microphone comparison section was really great, the fact I can hear the difference, compared to you saying "The mic is a big bump over last year's model" was great
@@mrsmi1ey When the mic is close, I think so, but when it's further away like you would normally do when filming yourself, I think the earbuds win because they will be closer to your mouth.
Best review of anything I've seen in a while. No spec read, true and tested, very informative and "real use" based - it flew by. Thanks Becca and keep it up!
It's great to see someone take these devices outside and review them in everyday life. I love your vlog-style videos and the way you mention aspects that are mostly ignored by others.
i can't tell you how fast i clicked this when it showed up on my feed. i was just like "FUCK YEAHH THE 1000 PHOTOS SERIES CONTINUES" oh my god i'm so happy
LOVE what you're doing on this channel. Tech is meant to be used in the real world, yet nearly no reviews exist where someone actually USES these devices in the real world-it's always some sterile studio. Keep up the great work!
I have mine and the only thing I need is to get a case that doesn't cover the new button for taking photos and recording, as well as not leaving the camera lens so exposed.
I am ashamed to say, with life's distractions and so on, I didn't even notice that my favorite photography vlogger Becca left the verge. This is the second video the algo gave me and I only just noticed it, now. Well done, algo, truly and honestly! Of course, instant subscription to this channel! Can't wait to see more videos!
I started carrying a pocket camera again, no longer relying on a phone. The RX100VII is so easy to reach for, starts up a little slower, but not ny much. A real camera, better photos that I can edit later on, for me it works, Ive done it for 30 years. I can now carry a smaller, older iPhone.
This is the only video so far that has effortlessly and genuinely visualize the 4K 120fps feature. Shooting the bike race gave me that visual explanation I never knew I needed.
Those photos with the photographic styles look so good, I don't even know if I could do better with my DSLR, I loved those photos. I didn't even watch any other iPhone 16 review I don't need them. I only need to know if the camera is better and I've got the best of the best for that job, you Becca.
Your videos are such an inspiration. Like you, the new Camera Control button is a frustration point for me and I'm usually using the volume up button like I have in the past 99% of the time. Your shots are amazing, and thank you again for being such an inspiration.
This is so refreshing, all these review channels sound and look and feel exactly the same, finally a voice I can listen to again and again. Thanks for that!
Great review Becca! As much as everyone complains that every year the new iPhone only “is about the cameras,” (which isn’t true), it shows that there is a lot of work for improvement to be done. Better low light photography, a better zoom lens, and a better selfie camera would all be appreciated. Thanks so much for the in-depth, personal, and fun review!
A great honest review! I tried the new camera button at an Apple Store, as a mild photo nerd, It was the feature I thought I always wanted. That is, until I tried it - it just felt so unintuitive and clumsy. Controls are one of the main features of any camera., often the difference between a camera you tolerate and a camera you love. There is no love in the iPhone camera button, not we way it is implemented now, but on a camera you usually don't want one button that does it all anyway.
I've loved and looked forward to your tech reviews for years with the Verge and have loyally followed you into your own solo channel. Long time lurker, first time commenter here, and I've gotta say, you should be really PROUD of what you've done with your career so far and I can't wait to see how it grows from here! RE: Camera Control - you've put into words my exact feelings about this button. "As a lover of technology, and especially a lover of buttons, it breaks my little nerdy heart." I want so badly to make this new control work, but every time I build up the courage to try again I'm left feeling just as disappointed as the last time. These frustrations have accumulated to the point where I did what Tyler Stalman did and disabled the "light-press" altogether under the accessibility settings. As a photography and tech nerd it literally breaks my heart to do it, but this way I'm no longer disappointed that it doesn't work for the umpteenth time. I loved using my iPhone 14 Pro for (mostly) RAW photos with the larger 48mp sensor and videos and I was so much looking forward to using the new camera control on the 16 Pro, but I've come to realize that the number of compromises have made it almost completely unusable. The position, the touch sensitivity for the "light-press", the inertia as you swipe from side to side, and the force required to push through the "light-press" and actually take a picture, while minimizing accidental bumps -- all compromised to the point of being unusable. MAYBE they can fix some of those things with software updates, but like another commenter mentioned, this has echoes of the MacBook Pro "Touch Bar" that never became what it promised to be. I will use it to open the camera app as I pull my phone out of my pocket or pick it up off a table and I expect to use it to launch the Apple Intelligence features they demoed a la Google Lens, but aside from that, it was a swing and a miss from Apple. RE: Photographic Styles - upon launch I also declared this as the "Fujifilmification" of this camera, though I prefer to shoot in Apple ProRAW for photos where I really want to dial in the look. I'm hoping Apple can find a way to apply your dialed in Photographic Style into the ProRAW metadata so it can be a starting point for your further edits. I want this to work similarly to how I can shoot RAW in a Fuji and then in Lightroom I can pick the Fuji film simulation Profile to be the starting point for my edit. So much is already being baked into the RAW file with Apple ProRAW, why not add this additional tonal metadata? C'mon Apple, give this as an option in an iOS 18 software update. Please don't lock it behind a hardware upgrade for the iPhone 17 Pro series. Just don't. Lastly, thank you for highlighting the improved microphones. If you hadn't done your mic check and compared the different options I would not have thought to use the microphones in the 16 Pro as a differentiated upgrade over previous generations. Keep being stellar! I've had these thoughts about Camera Control and Photographic Styles for awhile now, but your review "spoke to me" and motivated me to get engaged and share my thoughts in a comment on your video. What I mean to say is, you've got something special going here if I take the rare step of commenting on a RUclips video.
I may disagree because I've had a lot of fun with the CC button and love how subtle it can be (you can change the double tap speed in settings)...but MAN your content is so well made. You can tell a lot of time and love went into it. High quality stuff. Keep up the great work, Becca.
Incredible work Becca, loved this short & sweet review - as a 16pro user - 100% with you on the camera control. The Photos app aswell feels quite half baked - and un-apple like, really hope some big improvements are coming software wise down the line - and Apple watches your review + takes in some feedback!! Wont be upgrading for a couple years until the lowlight significantly improves, the 4K120 + video & Basic photo capability is great for a while :) Keep up the awesome videos!! ( especially love your edits being tight & refined - under 15/20mins ! )
I've been waiting for this video because I can't decide whether to keep with the Pixel and upgrade from my 6 Pro to the 9 Pro, or switch to Apple with the iPhone Pro 16. The biggest appeal is the Pro Res Log on the iPhone
Came here to say that the Camera Control “light-press” sensibility can be adjusted in the Accessibility settings. I also find the button too finicky to use because it's too light, or so I thought. I've actually set it to “Lighter” now, which is a lot better to use IMO.
Upgraded from the 14PM and I love it. I shoot a ton of photos and video with my phone and I'm not using the camera control button at all. Still love the new lenses the 25x digital zoom in video actually looks really good. I'm happy with it from the 14 ProMax to 16 ProMax.
Jeez, this is an awesome video back. Regardless of all the negatives - there are honestly many - the footage you've shot is just pro cinema category. It's not gonna make me buy an iPhone, I'm still on Android but it's really pleasing to see. You're an effing pro! Thanks.
IMO, a good shutter button for me is it should let me take the shot with my hands remaining as steady as possible. It sounds like the camera control is not it. Also, small pocket! I'm still keeping my iPhone 13 mini for that.
This is the first video I have seen of yours and I'm an instant fan. The cinematography, the narrative , the flow everything is on point ! I have subscribed and will be looking forward to seeing more cool stuff
I really love the photo filters and that i can go back to the original. The filters are a layer over the original picture. I can use the filter while taking picture or after or even change the one I used while taking the picture.
I’m so glad you made your own channel. Also, I feel exactly the same way about the camera button on my 16 pro. I want to like it and use it more, but it’s more difficult to use than it should be.
People can try to bash the 16 pro max as much as they want but these devices are too good and give you exactly what you need on a phone. Nice features a great camera and video and a very smooth experience with little to no hiccups. Love my 16 pro max titanium white.
Yeah, that mic test is the one. No fancy ideal scenario, just straight up "this is how they all sound, my opinion is mine but you can now make yours". I'm paraphrasing of course. All the best with your upcoming content Becca.
Hey Becca, I swear you have to be the best RUclipsr on RUclips right now. Amazing job. I am really digging your content. Please keep up the amazing work.
I discovered you with this video and I love your style of content. You sound super genuine and speak in a tongue that my non techie friends would understand. Keep up the good work Becca!
Becca you are hands down the best phone reviewer and the only one who actually gives audio samples which I’m sure is fun to do in edit 😅 thank you. Keep posting and I’ll be right here
I'm really glad I don’t have to drop a ton of extra cash to get the same cameras on the Max, plus they bumped up the screen size on the regular Pro! Honestly, 6.5 inches felt like the perfect sweet spot for an iPhone, especially since there’s no multitasking like on Android. Once Apple adds split screen, going for a bigger phone will totally make sense, even beyond just gaming.
From the moment I got my iPhone16pro, the idea that camera control is a huge missed opportunity is growing by the minute. Had it been made open for third party apps or even used it as scroll for its own OS, Safari, and other plethora of apps (like books, podcast, music, etc) would have been so much useful and people would have at least given Apple credit for implementing.
Excellent review. You're definitely hitting the things that I care about in a phone. Not many reviewers are testing the microphone and the wired earbuds are my every day go to.
I've got one of these on the way - I agree its not a major upgrade from the 15, but I'm coming off of the 12 Pro Max, and like that I can get the same cameras in the Pro as the Pro Max. My pockets, while not particularly small (I'm 5'11") will appreciate it.
Thank you because it’s currently Wednesday and I hate Wednesday and just by watching your video you gave me the energy to get up and fight this headache and go
I only use the camera control for launching the camera because for anything else it’s literally unusable. It constantly messes up with the picture I want to take because how I naturally hold the phone, so the photo I want to take ends up to be out of focus or under/over exposed, etc.. It’s the dumbest idea and execution of anything that Apple ever came up with, honestly. I value your content so much Becca because you seem honest, vibrant and your soul is not corrupt with the lust for kissing Apple’s or some other company butt. Wonderful job!
Amazing Video Becca, I watched many videos of iphone specifically i phone 16 pro, but i never saw that issue in the reviews about the night videos quality of main and ultrawide you really showed the best view of this and also last time you showed the color shifting of pixel 9 pro, now its iphones, you are really amazing texh reviewer, i am glad that this video is existed, thanks love from pakistan, but 1 thing remaining please talked about the macro photos and videos next time,
I love the Camera control button but I turned off the "light touch" functionality in accessibility so I just use it as a shutter button and to activate camera from the lock-screen, fastest way to get into the camera and snap a shot.
You just weaved together a vlog about dirt racing & hot air balloon rides with an actually compelling ad read and a solid, informative tech review. All without losing an ounce of momentum or credibility. You are so goddamn good at this. We the viewer are so lucky you went solo! 🙌
This has become my favorite channel to subscribe and look forward to new videos with. You're doing awesome Becca, and congrats on the first sponsorship!
I'm sure they'll perfect the Camera Control but as the moment it's easier to use the onscreen controls. Hopefully the half press will come soon to focus on a subject / crosshairs etc like the GRiii/V100 etc. That would be useful.
I wonder how much we’re just growing tired of the smartphone aesthetic overall. There’s only so much variation you can get from a phone sized lens/sensor/focal length combo and we’ve had more than a decade with the same parameters Killer video as always though, hadn’t seen anyone break down how tone mapping actually works on the 16!
You voiced my experience with this "phone." I was sucked in by the hype. I desired to get the Pro as I had to buy the Max last year for the 5x zoom. That button sucks and breaks my nerdy heart as well. An instant fan, spot-on review, clear and real... Thanks
I’m coming from an IPhone X. Not upgrading every single year or even every two years changes your perspective quite a lot. For me, the upgrade will be substantial! As for the question on whether the Pro or even the Pro max is worth it, I’d say: It depends. I see good reason to go Pro for starters. And no, I’m not talking about the slightly faster GPU performance or the 120hz promotion display with always on features. Especially the display feature of the pro line are gimmicky to me, judging by having an iPhone 13 in my hands before. The additional GPU core is probably not being used that much either, if I had to guess, since I don’t use my smartphone to play games. The somewhat bigger display of the 16 Pro Max (at 6.9 Inches) vs. my current iPhone X (at 5.8 inches) is going to be nice to have, especially with my sight not getting better over time. But the real deal, that sells me on an iPhone Pro Max, as opposed to an iPhone Plus, especially considering the improved photo quality of iPhones in general, ever since my current iPhone X, is the availability of the RAW format on the Pro Line of iPhones. Even though I’m not much of a photographer, I saw the merits, of having RAW material at hand, just in case, I want something to look extra good, after tinkering with RAW Photos of a friend‘s iPhone 13 Pro. The post processing on the iPhone is okay for everyday use, but not as good, if you really want to make the most out of the cameras. That‘s why I wouldn’t want to miss out on that, when I’m post processing photos every now and then, especially, when I’m keeping the same smartphone for several years as well. And with 256GB of storage needed, to not fill up the iPhone by more than 75% most of the time, (I’m talking about preserving the lifetime of the iPhone’s flash storage here) the jump from the 16 Pro to the 16 Pro Max isn’t much of a premium anymore, as the Pro Max comes with 256GB by default, while the Pro starts at 128GB. The bigger Battery of the Pro Max is no joke either and will become helpful especially towards the end of the life cycle of it, when the battery usage is going to be increased, with more and more features coming in over time, especially to third party apps, that usually don‘t care as much about being battery efficient With the knowledge of using the heck out of it, before getting a new one, it actually becomes reasonable to me. AppleCare+ will take care of needed battery replacements and other repairs throughout. And if you ask me, how long I’m going to use it: In case, It wasn’t obvious by the fact, that I’m coming from an iPhone X, I’d say we talk about roughly 6 years. That being said, my iPhone X at this point is 8 years old. That is easily above what I expected as a lifetime for that smartphone. To be honest, it was partially, because other investments where more important than upgrading my iPhone. Now, that I don’t even get security updates anymore, I simply have to. Also, based on looking on the increase of AI Performance on iPhone chips over the years, I guess, that Apple Intelligence MIGHT change the future of how the iPhone is going to be used within the next few years, since it obviously wasn’t a rushed endeavor but rather has been prepared for years now. And knowing how AI features already handle the part of the post processing, that even happens on RAW photos, especially with the significantly increased quality and resolution of cameras in mind, I’m actually glad, I waited this long.
Glad to see you out on your own, despite what happened at The Verge. I found that whenever a new video came out from them, if it wasn't your video, I didn't really watch it. Nothing against the others T.V. but your videos always stood out from the rest for me

In my opinion, this is the most beautifully produced iPhone 16 pro review and still delivering honest user experience
Detailed and unbiased. Great video Becca.
7:52 Howe Caverns?
Love the not-a-city vibes for a tech video.
I was gonna ask where the Caves/Cavern photos and videos came from. Thanks for adding it!
Yeah, that mic test is the one. No fancy ideal scenario, just straight up "this is how they all sound, my opinion is mine but you can now make yours". I'm paraphrasing of course.
All the best with your upcoming content Becca.
I have been watching you since Verge and am so happy to see you have your first sponsor! Great content, as always.
First time I see a a sponsored section and become instantly happy. Go Becca!
You are one of the few reviewers I trust with actually interesting points to talk about.
Congratulations I ve never seen so much honesty in a review.
Hey Becca, I swear you have to be the best RUclipsr on RUclips right now. Amazing job. I am really digging your content. Please keep up the amazing work.
Love your content since early days of the verge. So chill and welcoming. Never change
This is becoming one of the best tech channels
Way to go Becca!! Great review and great to see you doing what you know best on your own channel !
Feels like the verge without the verge. Geat work Becca
best tech youtuber right there guyssss!!!!! go beccaaaaa
Excellent video Becca. Short and too the point. No fluff to pad out the time. Really well done.
I've got one of these on the way - I agree its not a major upgrade from the 15, but I'm coming off of the 12 Pro Max, and like that I can get the same cameras in the Pro as the Pro Max. My pockets, while not particularly small (I'm 5'11") will appreciate it.
"Wow! 📸 The iPhone 16 Pro really captures stunning shots! 🌅✨ 1,000 photos and every single one looks amazing. The camera quality is next level! 👏📱
Dang, nice sponsor transition, and good presentation, I found myself watching through the whole thing instead of skipping 😅 Also nice video!
same here first time for me
Thank you because it’s currently Wednesday and I hate Wednesday and just by watching your video you gave me the energy to get up and fight this headache and go
Look at that, so much information, packed in an entertaining, slick video. You go Becca!
Wonderful job!
came here the fast I can and already had 2k views and 50 comments in the first 30 mins. This is officially my favorite RUclips channel.
After 2,5 weeks with 16pro I agree 100% with you about the camera button. It's too finicky. Also, awesome shots!
Thank you, Becca! That was great. I wonder if there is any significant upgrade to the cinematic mode. What do you think?
Amazing Video Becca, I watched many videos of iphone specifically i phone 16 pro, but i never saw that issue in the reviews about the night videos quality of main and ultrawide you really showed the best view of this and also last time you showed the color shifting of pixel 9 pro, now its iphones, you are really amazing texh reviewer, i am glad that this video is existed, thanks love from pakistan, but 1 thing remaining please talked about the macro photos and videos next time,
Dont forget to mention the patreon Becca, you deserve it!
I thought it would be an average review of the 16 pro, but was it great, the slow mo on the bikes YES
Thank you for offering a critical iPhone review, so refreshing to watch something that isn't just reworded marketing copy.
There’s only so much variation you can get from a phone sized lens/sensor/focal length combo and we’ve had more than a decade with the same parameters
Killer video as always though, hadn’t seen anyone break down how tone mapping actually works on the 16!
OMG wasn’t expecting the legendary return of Becca’s mic test! 🎉❤
Great video Becca! Love your content.
Glad to see you out on your own, despite what happened at The Verge. I found that whenever a new video came out from them, if it wasn't your video, I didn't really watch it. Nothing against the others T.V. but your videos always stood out from the rest for me
Thank you for taking the time to really dig into the pros and cons of the new iPhone. I am rooting for your success Becca. Keep going.
Fantastic work, Becca - I hope you find a way to doing this without burning out!
Love love love this review. Clear and concise, no nonsense design and specsheet
You continue to make the best phone camera reviews I've ever seen, Becca. All the power to you, and I look forward to more reviews! (Maybe even Vivo or Xiaomi flagships?)
Congrats on 100K Subs!😊
tyty
Great level of detail Becca - love the images also! Thanks for your hard work, I'll keep watching!
Love this series of videos ❤
