Mark, your videos helped me recover my singing voice after a massive heart attack and more than a week on a ventilator. I didn't sing for nearly a year and a half after my Jan 2021 heart attack and I lost much of my vocal range. Earlier this year I challenged myself by entering a local singing competition patterned after "The Voice" TV show. I used your videos to train for the competition and I made the finals! I've also regained my full range and my voice is better than before the heart attack. Just last month I did a six show run in a local production of "The Music Man." playing the role of Mayor Shinn. That didn't involve singing, but your vocal exercises were vital in helping me keep my voice through two months of rehearsals and six shows. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
That's great, James! So glad you're still with us and singing again!
@JimPenceArt Wonderful news regarding your health.👍🏾 Yes to your getting out there & I always felt better doing something and if I didn't get a callback or whatever, I at least knew that I followed through, which for me meant and means, I believe in myself enough to try. I hate the "what if"...Congrats!! ~ take care ~
If you are even thinking about lessons with Mark Baxter, do it! He has the patience of Job. He knows exactly what is going on with your voice the minute he hears you, and he knows what to do. Mark is a brilliant teacher. If you are terrified of singing, much less being taught by someone who worked with Steven Tyler, just get over it. It took me a year to get the courage to inquire about lessons. Don't be like me, jump in if you want to learn to sing.

I love this warm up so much. Other RUclips warmups kind of hurt and are a bit exhausting to get through. This one opens the voice so naturally.
Well, now you know to start with this one. But this would also be a good starter: ruclips.net/video/z_EYyWesCKQ/видео.html. The other routines won't hurt if you simply back off your volume and allow your resonance to rise.
this is one of my favourite exercises to do from Mark and today i was finally comfortable enough to do all the high notes! usually i have to go down an octave when it starts getting real high, but its like a switch turned on in my brain the last couple days and I finally internalised letting my high notes travel up to my head - and i could hit the notes right off the bat! im so proud of myself, and so happy i found this channel. i recommend it to all my singer friends.
That's awesome! I'm so happy for you!
@@voicelessondotcom thank you man! your videos have really changed my voice for the better👍
The best vocal coach on RUclips, I have watched just about all of them. Uniquely holistic, well explained and a great sense of humor.
Thanks - I'm glad you appreciate!
You are an AMAZING TEACHER offering these easy to follow exercises which are extremely effective for FREE...
THANKYOU..
You're welcome - I'm happy to help!
I have been consistently doing these exercises over two years ( with M.B.) and I have improved exponentially! Thank you M.B.! I'll be willing to back up that claim Lol!😊
That makes me feel SO GOOD that you're using the videos - and they're helping!
Mark, thank you so much for your videos. Im a choir singer. Breath control is so important. Breathing through your nose is far more effective. Your warm-ups and exercises work!
Glad they're helping!
Every time Mark uploads a new workout, I'm here in a flash and never, ever disappointed! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You're very welcome! I'm happy to help!
Straining on high notes trains your brain to fear them.
That's the truth!
Facts facts facts
Man the more I do this the better. I mean thats the point.
But love this exercise
@@TonySwingNYC That's exactly the point!
Greatful ,great lesson,,
Had my serious singing face on until Mark messed up the piano 😂
Singing is too important to be serious!
Just came here from @BandLab music platform. This is very helpful to me after just 1 session. I will be back and thanks. I'm 64 yrs. and glad to learn more and more!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice excercises, Mark, as always.
Tks a lot!!
Glad you like it!
Mark love your instruction in virtual class and online. I’m enjoying learning the steps that grow my voice and increase my confidence and skills.
Happy New Year!
I just notices how much issues I have with letting my voice resonate in my head and not tense up. I was diagnosed with dysphonia and just recovered from a vocal injury. Its hard sometimes not to just give up on singing after trying for years. But I'm always happy to see you uploading!
The hardest thing is to allow your voice to sound bad (breaking, cracking) when you first explore letting the resonance rise. We're all so conditioned to never make a bad sound if we want to be considered a singer - so it really inhibits our growth. Imagine telling a beginner on any musical instrument that they shouldn't make any mistakes!
Hi Mark I just want to take the time to thank you for the amazing videos that you create for free for all of us to use. I speak from experience when I say that it has truly revolutionized my singing!
I do your 15 Minute Morning Vocal Warmup everyday and it has allowed me to unlock greater control and freedom in my voice which I never thought possible. It is insane because I literally teach myself how to sing and the progress I am making because of that one video is just mind blowing.
I use to have many issue with my singing and could never sing consistently without my voice cracking or going into falsetto which in turn prevented me from singing seemlessly through my range and mixed voice.
I spent literally 3 years trying to figure out the reason and this year on the 1st of January I had an epiphany and discovered that my biggest issue was a lack of diaphragmatic support!
I then dived deep into training and strengthening my diaphragmatic engagement and after a few months all my problems disappeared and I can now sing with the ease, control and freedom I had always dreamed of.
That video of yours in particular helps me blend my voice which allows me to sing in my upper registers and mixed voice with immense ease allowing me to genuinely sing with joy.
The other day I hit a C6 with full head voice! Before this year I could always hit very high notes but I would always be in pain afterwards and my voice would basically give out but now I have no issues anymore which is incredibly exciting because I get to finally develop my range fully because I have such a wide vocal range.
You have literally no idea how much this means to me because I have dedicated so many hours to get where I am today and you were a key part of that process even though you do not know me.
May God bless you with great health and fulfillment for all the good you are doing!
Thank you.
Thank you for writing to me, Ruan! I'm happy to have helped a little in your amazing progress!

simply magnificent. God bless you, good Master Baxter!
The truth is usually pretty simple!
@@voicelessondotcom True, but still plenty valuable to hear repeated! Thank you :)
The last exercise is great for lengthening my air hold. Started by running out of air half way but now can last to the end almost every time. Thanks, I love it.
That's exactly what it's good for!
Marvelous beautiful. .. worked so well, voice feels great after this, and the insight of horizontal pitch and vertical resonance is pure alpha.
Glad to add some insight!
Well, I managed to deliver an assignment for my Māori language class yesterday where I had to sing a song, and it wasn't completely terrible, as I had feared. And that is thanks to your voice recovery lessons which I have been doing for the past few weeks. I went from almost zero - actually being banned by friends from singing for the last assignment hahaha It was truly that terrible! - to good enough for the purpose of this one, which is the best I could aim for in that time. So thank you so much! I will stick with your lessons and hopefully get back to a point where my voice does not constantly break up.
That's great! Glad to help out!
I appreciate these videos so much. In the past, I have wanted to improve my voice and the advice I got from good singers was usually to sing louder, open the mouth wider, etc., and when I tried these things it would actually make me physically ill, to say nothing of the fact that my voice did not improve much. Eventually, I found out that I have a condition called Chiari malformation, which involves the area at the base of the skull, near the vocal chords. I found out that Cm flares can be triggered by coughing, yelling, and singing, among other things. When I found this out, I figured "there goes any hope of me learning to sing." Then I found this site. I almost cried when I heard you saying again and again to keep it quiet and relaxed. I will never be a professional singer, but just to know that I can work on my voice and continue to enjoy singing means so much to me. And it's working! I'm improving.
It's not that the larynx is close to the bulge, CM is typically triggered by singing due to contracting neck muscles (trapezius and mastoids). Those large muscles are often engaged when belting and yelling so singing got thrown into the warning. But singing is an enormous spectrum of sounds - most of which can be produced without engaging those large neck muscles. So, obviously monitor your symptoms but you are certainly free to sing with all the sounds that don't make you ill.
Wow, thanks so much for clarifying that! I really enjoy all your videos. I go to them almost daily and plan on sharing them.@@voicelessondotcom

Good morning Mark, this came up just as I was rushing to my practice area during a work break. Perfect way to get my musical session moving. It's now on my regular list. I especially love that last exercise in the series. It challenged me because of the jumps and really helped in my work on my passaggio. Grazie mille!
Good timing!
Mark, I just want to thank you for posting all of these videos. I have a playlist with some of my favorite warm ups of yours that I run through every morning and I'm noticing a great improvement. I've had a private lesson with you in NYC years ago and I'm hoping to get another one in soon. You had my voice doing things I couldn't even imagine! You're the best! Thank you, Mark.

Long time not seen Mark, Guitar is improving, voice too (I hope) but that is all due to your earlier lessons. It seems to be a good time to join my wagon to your series again. Singing in the choir is fun (Paramour Wetteren) but I also want to start singing + guitar playing together, which is not so simple for me ... . Anyhow, nice daily exercise, thanks for your inspiration!
Not so simple for me either! But keep at it and things smooth out.

Thank you for that Mark Baxter. I will continue to enjoy my journey!
Great practice that was
Glad you're using it!
Thanks another good tutorial. Good reminder on keeping constant volume, I struggle with keeping that especially on higher notes idk why that my tendency usually is like to yell 😂 especially when emotion is high
Most likely you're unconsciously avoiding the awkward areas by singing louder instead of letting the resonance rise up into your head spaces. It's very common!
Thank you Mr Baxter

@@raymondspagnuolo8222 Both would be great!
It is strange! Ever since I started singing, I seem to be accompanied with a feeling of rejuvination; both physically and in mind.
Not strange at all. In fact, what you feel is well documented by research! There are many health benefits to singing - the first being the stimulation of the vagus nerve. And you don't even have to sing well for the benefits to work!
Yes, I have tried many physical and mental exercises in life, but nothing has given me this kind of joy and satisfaction. When words are not enough to express thoughts and feelings, then the music steps in. I think it should be included in the work of psychology.
Wooooowwww!!!
