    I have a fernleaf cactus. It grows like crazy in ~30% humidity. It gets a light sprinkling of slow-release fertilizer in the spring and I water it when it's dry. Otherwise, I just admire it.

    I’ve had mine for two years and never seen aerial roots . I just recently attached it to a wood platform so maybe I’ll finally see if mine is a normal fern leaf orchid cacti . Or not… I have also propagated the mother plant countless times and also the mothers children . 😂 I just want more and more and more . It’s my favorite plant out of about 100 other plants I own. Some people I know will refuse to take a potted and rooted propagation home because they say they don’t really like it. I just don’t understand how anyone can say they don’t like it!!! Yours is beautiful and I actually got the idea from your video and I recently made my own upside planter and have it hanging around . Hopefully 6:12 it will thrive in the planter . I would send a picture but I don’t see an option to attach to this comment

    Selenicereus Chrysocardium, one of my top favorite plants to keep, I was gifted beautiful cuttings from a conservatory. This was one of the first plants I took the deepest dive on researching on, even knowing the coordinates to where it was discovered and what year it was first described 🥰

    Absolutly in love with this plant!! Can i propogate it? Please more info about "upsondown" basket.

      It is easy to propagate, like epiphyllum. Cuttings are best made in spring or early summer. Cut 15 cm of a leaf, let it dry one day, pot it in orchid mix or epiphyte mix. After a week i start with a little watering but keep it on the dry side. Start giving more water when its growing.

    Mine has an yellowing leave. Is it most likely due to water exposure (it was on the open in the plant shop), or sun?

    Hey man do you feel like doing an update on this particular plant?
    I really want one and there isn't a lot of content with it. I'm curious about the growth pattern and rate.

      @@Houseplantygoodness thanks so much! I want one of these SO bad.
      I already have a zigzag cactus (fishbone? The thinner variety) and I'm going to get the fern leaf and a curly leaf orchid cactus to go with it so there's a trio of a related type.
      My zigzag cactus is HUGE and super full now and it was itty-bitty when I got it just last year. I was told it was a slow grower so I've been pleasantly surprised.
      I heard the fern leaf gets to be giant but I've yet to see anyone post any growth updates other than one girl that had a few 3" cuttings root and start.
      I keep seeing parts of yours at the top of the screen when I watch your content and I'm just dying to see what it fully looks like as it has grown.
      You mentioned you didn't like the pot it was in. Are you thinking about repotting? If so are you also planning on cutting some of the fronds to root them and make a fuller basket? Just curious.

    Your right, getting plants from the Ginger Jungle is like getting a real present. And lovely plants but I can't order from them since Brexit. :(. I wonder how your all getting on in GB with the availability of plants in general now. I can't, or anyone is Europe can't buy a packet of seeds without a very expensive cert. I've just ordered a lot from Germany and another lot from Poland. Fingers crossed they'll be good.

    I just got this few months ago- and still don't understand it. When I put my finger in the soil to see how wet it is, I noticed that the roots are all over right under the top layer of the soil. I also see that the base 'leaf' looks a bit wrinkly like its not getting enough water. Ive been watering this about once a week, but Im thinking its not getting enough water?? I also dont want to make a mistake and over water it. Is it natural for it to have roots on top when it's potted upright? Do I need to disturb it and repot it? Urgh

    • @jasmineaswa
      @jasmineaswa 3 года назад +1

      This is a little late but sometimes when you are frequently watering and the plant looks dry, then the soil could be compacted. If you haven’t already, you could take it out of its pot and inspect the soil and roots. Compacted soil is extremely dry and hard and will not soak up water.

    • @dirty_diver
      @dirty_diver 3 года назад +1

      It turns out the wrinkly 'leaf' was the original cutting. The plant is now shooting new 'leaf' and looking amazing. I recently bought another gigantic hanging pot of this plant -- loved it so much. It looks lush like ferns but less care
