I loved this video! It was lovely to have around the holidays. I would love to meet you here in the USA, but I don't live somewhere that people try to visit over other states. Might I suggest trying to go to a PLANT CON. I believe they do one in Florida and Texas. ❤

Hi Memo, thank you for another great video. Can i ask please why semi hydro is not right for you any more? I have a few in SH And wondering if they will size up more if i repot in a soil mix? I loved this chit chat content. It was nice to get to know a bit more about you. A lovely message at the end, you have a good heart. X

What a nice free flowing video, loved it. I laughed about that single time with my plants. My husband has been laid off, yuck lol. My early morning plant coffee time where I me timed is been overtaken with needless conversation. But in Ohio US you need it, its constantly dark drab little light. So mentally my plant care helps so much. But again I loved this video alot. Have a wonderful new year

Thank you for the video. Very helpful to have some okay quiet time this Christmas Day. Found out that a close friend of mine has cancer. We are going to find out the stage it is at the end of the month. It’s T-Cell (something I can’t spell that starts with the letter l). There is no cure. Looked like there wasn’t a surgical solution either. Just needed a break. He had a stroke earlier this year too. Had lung cancer a few years ago. He is kinda over it. He keeps saying he needs a break. He won’t doing anything to himself it’s just sad to see. He is such a vibrant man. Always so strong. Feels like you are here for me (and of course all of us). Thank you again.❤

Aside from basic (grow) information It is also nice to have some advanced information And troubleshoot information About specific plants I always encounter this problem… Im good with the basics.. But the moment something weird happens.. I want information on what it is and if I should do something Or if plants do ok but not their best…. I want to know how to grow them well in stead of just grow them. On a lot of more specific plants this type of information it hard to find and most information is questionable 😅 Been watching kdramas for years (maybe a decade already 🤔) And some jdramas But now also cdramas All the drama 😅 (When you run out of them on Netflix… theres a whole lot of them on Viki as well 😉) Im still repotting where needed.. Not procrastinating until spring and then having it cause plant burnout due to the amount of it 🤣 We were thriving during the lockdowns… a lot of normally unavoidable social things were suddenly not allowed. It saved so much time and energy. Note: introverts aren’t (always) loners 😉 Millenial speaking: GenZ is the first generation to grow up with internet available everywhere.. which also means the first generation that can “lose themselves” online in games and such from an early age Some of my friends have GenAlpha kids…. Thats again a whole other level of online life.. I feel sorry for them… but also for the older generations who completely wont understand any of this but will have to deal with them on the workfloor It looked like you used the rough part of the velcro on the plant side and the soft side on the outside? How are your experiences with that? (Im always afraid that Ill scar the plant so curious to know if that is the case or not) I still like pretty variegation, healthy looking variegation… But that new variegation that makes it look like theres something wrong with the plant, yugh! 😂 I got into sort of a Hoya obsession a while back… And found out that quite a few are “cold” growing and even flower in autumn/winter Its very rewarding (I make to-do lists these days, it helps lots and its rewarding to cross things off) Hoping you stay well

I completely relate. I grew up as an only child but gained a brother through adoption at 20. We never lived in the same house and I often tell people I was an only child. No disrespect to him, he just doesn't come to mind when I consider my formative years. I had a very quiet, very lonely childhood and am very introverted as an adult. My social battery runs down very quickly.

In terms of alocasia - i have a portei, dragon scale, sp Borneo 'Longiloba Narrow', silver dragon, puncakborneesnsis, sp Sulawesi 'Sabrina Narrow', scalprum, tandurusa, and i have found the portei super easy - very forgiving sizes up massively quickly went from thumb sized leaves to x1.5 head leaves in 5 months but also i have grown my dragon scale from a tiny two leaved starter plant to one that is now giving head sized leaves over the same period without dropping any leaves, and i find scalprum the hardest - currently a single shoot rehab (no leaves) 😂; second hardest would be sp Borneo 'Longiloba Narrow' - does not like winter in the UK, loves to flower and kill off multiple leaves in the process and only put out one leaf between inflos, but it looks so beautifully sinister i will forgive it anything 😅 so a mixed bag for me re jewel vs big.

hi friend! I actually get 3 weeks off for christmas, I usually work 2 weeks on, and 2 weeks off, and then christmas adds a week on top of that which is nice. I have to say though, as an adult with ADHD, I struggle a lot with time off, I need to be doing things in order to stay sane, but I will say doing something new helps to break up the monotony of life. it took me a long time to figure out that relaxing could just be shoveling snow while listening to an audiobook, rather than laying on a beach chair and reading. I think part of the plant hobby for me is being able to stay really busy, while also being inside and relaxing. I hope you have a nice christmas time!

7:31 "give it a moss pole" / I have pothos & philos that looked like that. I gave them tree branches from the yard, in shapes that pleased me. I've used velcro, florist's tape, & crochet to "hug" the plant to the support. Do the bare stems "grab on" to the support? Mostly, No ... BUT the new leaves after the "hug" begin to size up.

    • @Houseplantygoodness

Have you ever used tree fern fiber? I’ve noticed that mine picky small plants root do quite well with that. And yes, I have been repotting. And I absolutely lost it at 45:29😂😂😂 At first, I thought it was quartz but maybe Selenite crystal? I can’t help it. I just have to know😊

I’ve never tried tree fern fiber, but now I’m curious! 🌿 Thanks for the tip. And yes, that moment at 45:29. 😂 The crystal is quartz I think! I had the same thought about Selenite at first too. 🪴✨

The String of Frogs, or Ficus pumila 'Quercifolia', is fun to grow inside terrariums and thrives just as well outside them without much struggle.

I adore most peperomia (cat safe) and I have three varieties of espicia. These are so easy to propagate.

Peperomia being cat-safe is such a bonus, right? 🐾💚 And Espicia is a gem-so vibrant and easy to share! Which varieties of Espicia do you have? 🌿

I friend! As a big plant person, i'm slowly working on getting more small plants, to hide ugly plastic pots. I've convinced my wife that this is more cost effective than buying decorative cover pots that they grow out of. I totally agree about small alocasia sometimes being nightmare-ish. I got into alocasia during the dragon scale, dragon breath, and ninja hype, and its totally my fault buying them from big box stores, bugs and all, but it has scared me away from them for a bit. I'm slowly starting to work up the courage to try again though, the melo is too cute...

Great strategy with small plants to hide pots! 🌟 Melo is absolutely adorable-you should totally go for it! Best of luck with your small plant collection. 🌿✨

Cool video - I like the variety of small plants :-) Alocasias: They are among my favourite genuses (together with maranta, calathea and begonia). I grow all alocasias in Lechuza pon, slow release fertiliser, self-watering pots (from Lechuza or Elho) in 60 - 65 %, 18-25°C, Czech Rep. I bought all of them in 5 cm and smaller pots. I never experieced any dormancy. All jewells bloomed after one year with me. I have been growing mostly jewells (Silver Dragon, Maharani, Ninja, Azlanii, Pink Dragon, Cuprea) due to lack of space and 2 large ones (Regal Shield, Frydek). I find the jewells to enjoy much less water and much less light and they also grow slower. They can be easily over-watered and rotten. Also I find that each jewell wants a little different watering regime - so the self-watering pot solved it :-) The large ones, in my experience: need nearly twice as much water, much more light (or else they get leggy/ugly) and grow no matter what. It´s much harder to overwater them. I prefer the jewells due to their cool looks and easy care. My first jewell - 3 year old Silver Dragon went mad this Christmas and is about to bloom (she usually bloomed from Feb to Nov). I always let all of my alocasias bloom as much as they like - it doesn´t cost them any leaves. Have a nice Christmas holiday, Memo :-)
