    Very helpful video, as always, Memo. 🙌🙌 I like to give my Caladiums that winter rest, but I will just leave them dry all winter in their pots in the dark until I see the new growth starting. I will then repot into into fresh soil gradually increasing the water and light. If I will need to split them, I will unpot the corms and store them dry in newspaper all winter until spring along with my dahlias. Last year, none of my Alocasias went into dormancy, but this year it seems that several are in need of a rest period, so I will chop back the leaves after they've died back, chop the roots, dry the corms out completely, and repot into moss and perlite. They will then go under growlights and regrow when they're ready. 🤗

    Great info. As this will be my first full year with my indoor plants this will help. I have grow lights throughout, will that make a difference if I keep them on through the fall/winter months?. Thanks again😀

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  2 месяца назад

      So glad the info was helpful, Kelly! 🙌 Yes, grow lights can definitely help-keeping them on during fall/winter can prevent your plants from going dormant, especially with species like Alocasia. Just watch out for overwatering! and the plants need to not have the lights on them during the night 💡🌿😊

    I cannot abide ugly looking plants, they tank my mood like nothing else. If plants bring me more stress than joy, I get rid of them, be it by giving them away, or throwing them away. I hope my alocasias won't go into dormancy, because I don't want to get rid of them, but I wouldn't know where to put them. Hopefully the grow lights will help!

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  2 месяца назад +1

      I totally get it! Plants should bring joy, not stress 🌿✨ Keep those grow lights on through the colder months, and hopefully your alocasias will stay in their active phase! 🙌 If they do go dormant, just think of it as a plant nap! 😊💡

    Hey Memo! Quick question if you did have an answer. I have a coffee cup/tea cup Colocasia and it seemed like it was going dormant, but has just given me a cpl new leaves. The new leaves have been taking a longer than usual time to unfurl however, I just gave it another drink recently and was curious if I should be holding back on water now or do you think I should encourage it's newer growth? Thanks in advance and hope your well across the pond, cheers from Ontario Canada :)
