  • Winchester doubles down on affordable hunting rifle performance with the XPR bolt-action, now partnered with the company’s own flagship .350 Legend round. Purpose-built for deer hunters, the straight-walled .350 Legend’s low recoil and serious performance add to its instant appeal in the field.
Should hunters wanting a Legend bolt-action grab the XPR? Guns.com finds out.

After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!

I hope the 350 legend sticks around. It's sensible, safe and useful. It is humane for harvest since it has some punch, but the range is brought in a bit for real world distances. Who wants to carry a 200lb animal more than 200yds anyhow?
I can't say enough about Kristen's reviews. It feels like I cant get away from tacticool and millitarized defense type reviews. I appreciate the range and hunt focus, because if we are honest that is where we use these tools most. Its like a godsend that she doesnt even mention, "shtf", 'truck gun' or anything else on my youtube gun bingo card.

Sub 200 yards is definitely the perfect way to describe the .350 legend. Even the finest barrels are at the mercy of the ammos put through them. This is glaringly obvious with the .350 legend. As of this writing, there are very few ammos in .350 legend that group well at 200+ yards. Out of my 20" gun with typical off-the-shelf ammo, 1 moa at 100 yards is easy but out to 200 yards I rarely can get less than 3 moa (6 inch spread). YRMV

Bolt, magazine, bolt release and safety remind me of my Tikka rifle in 7mm-08. In fact, almost identical. Minimal learning curve if I get one of these Winchesters here in Michigan.

Does anybody else notice that everything about this rifle (including the magazine) is identical to the Tikka T3x? Just look at every little aspect of it. Safety, bolt, bolt remover on the left side... it looks identical to a Tikka. I’m a Tikka collector so I can see how much this looks like Tikka.

Because of the low bc it doesn’t travel as far as a bottle neck with lethal energy. It’s really designed for American whitetail which are on average are shot at distances under 100 yds. Really great on hogs which is why I built an ar which has mag capacites up to 20 rounds. My weight with Faxon 20” barrel came in at 6lbs 3oz minus optic

The 350 Legend is not the fastest straight wall rifle cartridge. It's easily slower than the .444 Marlin. It's low velocity, bad BC, and terrible SD is no match for the .243 despite Winchester's marketing claims.

    • @blackie1of4
      @blackie1of4 4 года назад +1

You're 💯 percent accurate with your analysis... however... I highly doubt you'd find a deer that could tell difference between the three inside 200 yards.
My experience tells me that it's a matter of choices and since the 350 Legend is legal in those straight wall states... the lack of recoil is welcoming :)

I live in Ohio and love to shot as much as i love to hunt and honestly it's much more fun to shot the 350 over the .444 and hunting Whitetail the .444 is a bit of over kill if you ask me. My buddy took one last year at 100 yards and left a baseball hole coming out

@@benkellar9970 I hear ya about those wound channels and recoil... nobody likes recoil and if they say they do they're lying.
I get it... I have shot numerous calibers and I'm aged and wise to recoil. My first hand experience is that I enjoy shooting more than hunting. So I'll hit the range often and I'm pleasantly surprised by the lack of recoil from the 350 Legend.
Don't get me wrong... I just came back from the range yesterday toting my 358 Winchester... the recoil is tolerable and I get MOA with factory ammo too :)
One last thing... I ALWAYS say this:
Ya know what the difference between the 30-06 and the 7mm-08 is on whitetail?
I get one more burger using the 7mm-08 :)
      Shoots better too!

The 350 legend will leave no blood trail...several of my family and friends bought the XPR, and three of us shot big bucks...only one recovery...none of these bucks left a single drop of blood...I was shocked to say the least...I was telling this to a good friend at the range yesterday and he said he knew of two fellas who shot good deer with the same caliber and experienced the same results...couldn't find the deer...really disappointing with this purchase

    • @brokenarrow6491

@@perryrusso3764 so the ammo's fault is the gun's fault? If I understand this story correctly, the bullet was the one not doing it's job, not the gun. Maybe it was a mistake to purchase the gun in 350, but regardless the XPR is a very good rifle. Don't blame the gun, blame the ammo.

She bobbled the follow up shot on the bolt. The bolt got hung up three times at least on the bench. It is not a control feed action. I watched it twice objectively because I love Winchester’s. It didn’t look good. It’s obvious she’s not at all smooth with a turn bolt. Maybe not working the action with a hunters intention was the problem. I don’t know. I guess I’ll have to get one in my hands and see for myself.

It looks like she's use to a 90° bolt lift. The XPR has a 3 lug 60° bolt. You can tell when she's showing the bolt release button that she's trying to lift the bolt knob higher than it goes.
