im honestly really glad they didnt go for the Frame technique they used for Menasor and superion, considering how the structure and sculpt of Devastator is pretty unique
One thing I will say about this new set, is that each individual Constructicon looks good. I think this will go down as a very solid group of figures, and seeing these two makes me very exited to pick up each one!
If they can do that great with a green construction giant. Imagine what they can do with bruticus! They can do so much and fully throw off the combiner wars version. Though, I need a g2 version cause it’s the one that I felt more attached to and probably my first ever combiner figure
Long Haul went on a diet. While parts-forming isn’t ideal, maybe for combiners parts-forming can be thought of in terms of the Hulkbuster armor from Avengers: Age of Ultron, or Tony Stark’s armor from Iron Man 3. Each segment is flight capable and able to connect on its own.
He looks exactly like the KO version of devastator. Around 12 in. They look like they are very small and flimsy ish. The arms and the legs might be scary to transform without them breaking?

Interestingly, Hook's front doesn't seem to flip over to form his legs, meaning he doesn't end up with a big stomping foot made of the crane's front cab. I don't think that's movie/cartoon accurate, but I kind of like it. I'm sure someone will put out an upgrade kit to add that back in among other things later on.
They have to give us reasons to buy better versions in 5 more years at a higher price point. No way is Hasbro going to give us the best and not be able to use the trademarked names for all these characters when they expire or start running out of ones to make if they are as good as they can be. I get Hasbro needs to keep making new figures as a company but they aren't worth the price in most cases. I have alternatives for this set. It's not G1 accurate but I'm fine with it. This new Hasbro set is definitely better than the CW set but I can wait for a sale. I won't trip if they sell out before that happens though.
I will only say, saying with knowledge they said no... I really want two of these, but I really really wish they would consider doing a 40th anniversary vintage box with all of them. That would be perfection for me.

not a fan but i havent been a fan the entire time. if deluxes were still like 15 not 25 they i would think it looks cool but the price just isn't doing it for me. if im gonna spend 190 on a combiner ill just get a third party one instead. as it is it just is not doing enough for my money

They do look a little small, but Hasbro already mentioned the combiners will be roughly the same size as Legacy Menasor.
I like the Commander class Hook/Long Haul especially the trailer attachment for Long Haul. Wish they had that for the G1 Devastator back in the day.
