  • Calling all other RUclipsrs, I'd love to hear what your workflow is like? Do you script your RUclips videos?
If you're like me you might be able to relate with the fact that most of the time if I'm not prompted with anything or not answering a question, I'll probably just ramble in a not so concise manner. In today's video I'm going to be talking about whether or not you should script your RUclips videos and what cases you should or should not create a script.

I tried both ways and I found that having bullet points helps and not actually writing word for word. This was the best for my personallity and style. I feel like the humour I try to bring sounds stupid when I try to write out a joke.
You have some really great points here man.

That's awesome! Yeah I do find bullet points help a lot as well, makes the flow of the video a bit more natural. Thanks for the support Kevin! Much appreciated! 🤗

Honestly, I'm in the same boat as you! I used to just run and gun and blabber about random things when I started vlogging. More recently, I script on what to say so I don't miss out on anything.

That's awesome! I think there's nothing wrong with running and gunning, but when you're trying to be more concise with ideas I think scripting is the way to go! 😄

Great to hear! I actually outline my videos and sort of script it out on Apple notepad. Still getting in the groove for sure but I think I'm finding my comfort zone and aesthetic.

Tyler Tang That’s cool! Really any way of taking notes is good. It takes a bit of time to try different things out to see what works for you, don’t beat yourself up if it takes a bit longer then you think it does! 🤗

Thanks for your video. At first I was scripting everything but it made me a bit robotic. Then I switched to bullet points and that worked better for me, but still not as conversational as I wanted it to be. Lately I've been starting my bullet points (screen on my desk) and half way through I just go ahead and press record. Overlapping brolls over cuts helped keeping the record and editing time down because I keep the length of my sentences down (less mistakes).

Bullet points is a good way to go about it! I find that they work as good prompts to open up discussion on a topic you already know about. And YES 👏 overlapping Broll definitely helps with editing sections that might be a bit more choppy. Thanks for sharing your approach! 🙏🤗

I think for videos like this its good to scrip/ outline what your doing to be more intentional of what your putting out

Yes! I find that it also saves time in editing so I don’t have to make as many cuts 😊

Definitely need script just the coming video I'm no getting ready yet because I didn't preparing enough.
If it's just front of camera I'll prepare something and just let everything goes according to my experience or knowledge I have about the topic.
From now I'll take more time me preparing script. I use Google keep or Google drive.
Today I have the same subscribers as you 712 ahah ✌️

I realized early on that I should script at least an outline for most types of videos, because I ramble too and sometimes I forget to say something that I meant to say. Interesting way to include your script within viewing distance. I still write most of mine on paper and just keep my notebook to the side or something and whenever I pause and take a break or something I just take a look at my notebook. Still not great at it but I definitely think scripting or at least an outline helps. I don't like to write the entire thing either because it feels too mechanical so I put buzzwords/phrases/topics.

That’s a great way to put it! I think it also might be a good idea to have any keywords that you’re using in SEO as well to improve your ranking. Writing down an outline of your topics would definitely help! Thanks for stopping by Ryan! 🤗

I generally do a rough script as well -- I use a google doc to outline the main points and structure! I don't typically do word for word cause I get really in my head 😓and I like to feel a little more loose in my vids (:

It’s like writing notes for a school presentation, just knowing the material makes it so much easier to present - rather then going word for word. It does sound more natural if you aren’t scripting every word for sure! 😄

great content kyle! for me, it would be great to have a script, but i can be quite a comedian, and I have to learn improv to present myself. life for me can be unexpected, so I would like to present on the fly and see how it turns out. script can help you be organized with your thought and when rehearsed, it will decrease of you with fillers and bloopers or even decrease amount of unnecessary takes esp for perfectionist out there. At times I do not want to act like a robot for reading in a monotone a script with no context on presenting it, and if i ever miss a line, improv can help or just call cut and do another take.
And i thought a teleprompter would be a great idea too. switch from script to unscripted. (believe it or not, it's crazy but it helps xD)

Yeah! I guess it really depends on your personality and the intent of the video. I think scripting my videos just saves me time in post more than anything! Thanks for stopping by! 🤗

    • @pao1

@@KyleCWong yup I agree on that. balancing both script and unscript of presenting has its benefits. esp knowing your script by heart and it depends tpp on what content you like to present to audience. vlogs are more spontaneous, but tutorials are better with script for better presentation taking in personality and performance.

I have started scripting my introductions to my videos because with most of the videos I do can’t really be scripted, in the sense that it’s a bit unpredictable what could happen... But thanks for the advice
