colak is a total legend, total superhuman and from another planet,he can hold his breath for 23 minutes thats so insane, after 3min i have to breath,i cant imagine how mentally strong you would need to be not be able to withstand the contractions for that long,am sorry am just totally amazed...
Hello Chris and Goran - good video thanks. Good advice ("you picked this sport" so you need to come to peace with the discomfort of contractions haha). Sorry I missed it live. I just read a scientific publication that stated "ultra‐elite apneists terminate a hyperoxic breath hold by inhaling, rather than exhaling" because of "the reduced lung volumes from the disproportionate extraction of oxygen versus release of carbon dioxide". Is that true? Does your lung volume reduce significantly during an oxygen supplemented breath-hold?
Hi! So it is true that high level freedivers will end a breathhold with a slight inhale (and terminate an empty lungs breathhold with a slight exhale). This generally allows for a smoother exhale (or inhale on an empty lung breathhold).
Goran would never be my coach. Delaying contractions DOES matter to a lot of freedivers. They just don't want to be the champion he is. They want more comfortable dive time. What's wrong with that?

This episode is gold.
Absolutely right, training actually isn't focused to delaying contractions, it's focused must be how to be comfortable with contractions.

Nothing at all! Goran's approach is certainly not for everyone. His favorite quote: "Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever."
I think it was in the context with static as a discipline and not for diving.
Obviously we don’t want contractions at depth and train to delay them.
