- Get swept away to a swinging South Seas celebration hosted by a flock of talking birds and their fantastic floral friends. Enchanted Tiki Room is a 15-minute celebration of island romance and wonder performed in a magical theater-in-the-round.
Enjoy delightful songs performed by a chorus led by 4 colorful macaws named Jose, Michael, Pierre and Fritz. Laugh, clap and sing-along as they are joined in song by a total of 225 animated performers - including assorted toucans, parrots, showgirl cockatoos, crooning flowers, drumming Tiki statues and chanting wooden masks.
The magic starts even before you enter the Enchanted Tiki Room. The Tiki gods encircling a lush garden spring to life and introduce themselves.
While you wait, take the opportunity to purchase a treat from the Tiki Juice Bar. Taste a Pineapple Dole Whip-a classic treat treasured by both Guests and Tiki Birds.
The Enchanted Tiki Room is the very first show to feature Audio Animatronics technology. Walt Disney's fascination with translating film animation into the real world led to groundbreaking new technology that enabled 3-dimensional animations to be recorded and played back on magnetic tape.
Walt originally envisioned the attraction as a dinner show. However, he knew the attraction would be so popular that he changed the format to accommodate more Guests when it opened to the captivated public in 1963.
Over 50 years and still fun!
Old Walt understood simple entertainment. In the best of all possible interpretations of that,
Dang, I will have "the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" going through my head for the next few weeks!
Love this! The only thing that makes me mad is people are so impassion now days. They all start to walk out before they do the joke and it is not as magical. I have been to Disneyland 14 times and that has only started happening to me in the last 6 years or so. Its like people can't just sit still for more than a second or they will go crazy. Drives me nuts! People are starting to do it now for actual plays and even the fire works! Makes me sad.
+Kristen Jenkins I think the word you were looking for is impatient?
I'm totally down with that. We're living in an age where people have tons of annoying responsibilities placed on them, and not much time to get everything done. Entertainment and consumer services need to keep coming up with ways to make their good available more and more quickly, like instant downloads for movies, and Amazon even plans to drop your own damned groceries off at your house! Everybody wants everything done _right now_, and nobody wants to relax for a good length of time to soak in a show. Just get up, move to the next thing.
I would stay for the whole thing I wouldn’t care if people walked out if you pay enough to go to Disneyland you should watch the entire thing it wouldn’t ruin my day at all it’s their loss not mine
Always one of my favorite stops when in Disneyland for me and family. My boys always have me putting this on and they dance!
I love to reflect on this one as a lesson in the history of audio-animatronics. When you are watching the Tiki show you can hear the clicks, hisses, and pops of those early open loop pneumatic actuators. From what I have read (and do correct me if there are any imagineers out there that have worked on it), almost the entire show was accomplished via pneumatic system. Hydraulic systems at the time we too big to operated the small figures, and electro-servo motors were still very crude in 1963.
Yeah, I believe so. They already developed the Pneumatic Technology from stuff like Jungle Cruise and Rainbow Ridge Mine Train, and this was the next step.
I believe after the refurbishment in early 2000s, the entire show was replaced with new and more fluid animatronics since the previous management didnt keep the originals pristine. The originals are always displayed during special showcases and I believe some original animatronics now reside but fully-functional in trader sam’s at the disneyland hotel!
In the original version yes, that changed in 1993. In the old version, since it was recorded on analog, you can hear the noise and the voices sounded very robotic because of the hiss of the analog track, and the RCA sound gave it a significant echo. In 1993, the soundtrack was digitally rerecorded (which is the version you hear in this video), getting rid of the hiss and now recorded in stereo, and because of this, they were able to loop the show without having to change the tape or record. Also, the sound is significantly different (you can hear it on soundtrack versions too), in which the voices are clearer, the extra audible effects are more audible, and the classic castle thunder sound effect was replaced by a newer thunder sound effect which helped shake the room. You are right, much of the operations was do crude in 1963 that they had to have a separate room underneath to run all the computers since computers took up entire rooms back then.
Walt Disney always watches us from above, smiling as we create old memories 😊
My favorite Sherman brothers song!!!!
Mine too along along with it’s a small world
*Cries in quarantine*
LOVE THIS!!! WAS ALWAYS MY FAMILY'S LAST STOP TO REST BEFORE WE WENT HOME!! WALT WAS AAAAAMAZINGGG!!!
marciescleaning74104 oh god talk about taking me back to my childhood
This show is hella fun. Glad they didn't close it down.
Yeah but it’s closed at Disneyland in California because you know
Southern California is suffering from the pandemic terribly
I've been to this attraction twice back in both 1996 and 2002 when I went to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The first time I went there is that they've included the Offenbach number, and I enjoyed it. And the second time I was going inside, they removed it. It's nostalgic, and it brought back so many memories.
A couple of people are mentioning a Moana version if this. I really don't think Disney could change much if they wanted to. The most they could do is change Maui who is outside.
Also, the clicking of the animatronics is so nostalgic! I love how it's never been updated. And the songs are the best. This place is definitely a nice place to rest after walking for so long.
Moonfire121 let's keep the tiki room the way it is.
The Tiki Room was changed in Disney World with Iago but I believe they changed it back.
@@marisaledesma4068 they did and people hated it and demanded it be changed back
"come on jose and don't call me any funny names"
I remember when the dude said this and I laughed
This is such an amazing show! I love the pre-show with the tikis and this is a great video of them. I went to Disneyland and the first time I saw the tikis pre-show I feel in love. At one point I even knew all of pele's and maui's lines. Thanks for the memories!
I remember this freaked me out as a child. I don't know why, it seems so nice and cute.
I loved it even as it terrified me when I was little. Those masks! Holy moly.
The thunder storm they have used to scare me when I was younger
I got scared when I went into it, I was in a position where one of the birds was right behind me, so I was leaning forward and I kept looking behind me. Also when it got dark and the thunder and lightning started, that really scared me.
Me too!
IAM 50 SOMETHING!!! YOU WILL ALWAYS.............REMEMBER THESE SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOOOOOOOVE The Tiki Room!!
1, 2, 3.... WAKE UP GRANDFATHER CLOCK! I got so many looks xD it's a reference to Captain Kangaroo.
this makes me dance

YOU HAVE THE DOLE AD!!!!!!

i did not have to wait that long to go in the tiki room
when my mom made me go in the tiki room, i thought she meant people throwing around flaming sticks, NOT SINGING BIRDS. i still liked the tiki room anyway.
It appears that I did. Thanks for pointing that out.
cool
Does anyone remember when this was a restaurant and you could eat during the show? The show started every 20 minutes, sort of like the rain forest café places.
RJ Holcomb Tiki room wasn't ever a restaurant. I think your thinking of Tahitian Terrace which was where Aladdin;s Oasis is now
ThomasTheImagineer That's it! Thanks, that's been eating me up.
Your welcome
Om yes it has been a restraint they said about the history it was just look up secrets of the disenyland tiki room or something on RUclips and it might say yes it has used to have been a resetraunt
+Lily Vlogz Wrong.Wrong.Wrong. And your spelling is wrong too.
19:48 the macaw next to the plants looked like Pierre.
anyone wanna take shrooms and go on this shit xD
That pele statue tho. Pele is actually very smexy
ty =)
0:52 they will probably change it so that the Rock's voice says those lines. I have a feeling that all those gods will be really popular after Moana. Just hope they won't change too much after the movie comes out.
The last time they tried putting movie characters in the enchanted tiki room... It didn't go well so I doubt they'd even consider taking that risk now.
Thankfully the movie isn't really that popular so I don't see it happening. I mean it's a good movie but I think overall it most people would just say it's good
@@disneydork100 your talking about rhe enchanted tiki room under new management
@@skunkman9815 yup, it was truly awful.
My mom never took me to this D:< it looks so fun!!!
This was published on my Brithday:)
I have a recurring dream in which I go to the Tiki Room for a ‘normal’ show-of course I already know every word to the whole thing, I was a season ticket holder for years-and its the Mormon Tabernacle Choir that wakes up all around me and starts singing! Bizarre, because it’s not as if they’ve ever done a Disney album... they’ve also shown up in dreams on Peter Pan, the Haunted House, the Castle, almost everywhere... but the Tiki Room is the repeating dream... what does this mean? I am not a member of the LDS church but I do believe in the BoM, absolutely... is this telling me to join, that all is well? I can’t figure it out... the Holy Spirit is so mysterious.......
I love this show, but I don't like the part where they start singing fast and the thunder and lightning start. It scared me when I went to the show in person.
Show 63th anniversary celebration years New History documentary oascr awesome awards Ceremony
Tiki tiki tiki room
You know, my family and I went to the enchanted tiki room show at Walt Disney world and we actually had to evacuate the room after like an hour to get in and 3-4 minutes inside.
RCgaming01 you're not only railfan on here.
The show is now shorter, isn't it?
Yes; they cut the Offenbach number and a bit from the beginning of "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing".
@@jorgearnoldson3107 Also, the forth verse from the first Tiki Room song was cut.
Awesome video. My 8 month son loves watching it! Check him out listening to tiki room on my Day 3 vlog, he dances to it!!
20:16 BREAK IT DOWN
(07:33) is it just me, or does the king with the pineapple look like Justin Timberlake?
I love the actual show but omg the Dole ad is super cringe.....
Only Disney will make rides that were awesome slightly less awesome I mean why would they change Capitan EO I loved that ride and they put guardians of the galaxy and now they are gonna take out my fav ride the train and make it star wars which is my fav movie
This atraction will likely be re-themed with Moana stuff in a near future I think.
papermaniac they tried putting movie characters in a tiki room once, it didn't go so well.
disneydork100 maybe with moana Themed stuff may work well the tiki room already have the taste of polynesian culture they just can add only a few characters and a good performance.
papermaniac i still don't think its likely.
disneydork100 we have to wait also remember several atractions among diferent Disney parks were rethemed recently ( for example Maelstrom in Epcot center that was rethemed with Frozen stuff)
papermaniac yeah but this is the enchanted tiki room, a certified, walt era classic, with a real history. they're not taking this down without a serious fight.
8:57 its cringe to me
