Rodrigo: 'Pastoral' for piano

- 'Pastoral' dates from 1926, when the Rodrigo was 25. The composer says the piece 'was inspired more or less by springtime', hence the cuckoo effect in the middle.
This was set for grade 6 in 2011-12 and I have used ABRSM's edition which has some editorial additions (fingering, pedal, tempo) which not everyone will want to adopt. And personally I don't think it was a good choice as a grade piece at this level, as the cuckoo effect is quite difficult to bring off. But from a musical point of view an interesting piece to try.
