Very nice. We just got back from Panamint Valley where we stayed in the Minnieta Cabin for a week. Pleasant Canyon Loop was nice. The road coming out of South Park back into Panamint Valley was a freeway. Not used to it being in such good shape. We did Goler Wash into Butte Valley a few years ago and stayed at Stellas. Showered at Russle's. The cabin at Barker's Ranch burned down some years ago. Only rock walls remain now. Glad I got to see it long before that happened. Did you actually make it up Mengal Pass or did you turn around before trying that? Great photos. Thanks for taking us along.

Hi, I was actually kind of shocked myself on the amount of traffic. Lots and lots of dirt bikes and 4WD'ers. I bailed a few miles from Mengel Pass. Been thanking about setting up a base camp somewhere on the west side of the Panamints, then just do a day trip up Goler Wash.

@@RickZackExploreOffroad You could leave your trailer at Ballarat. It would be safe there.

@@mobiltec That is a good idea. I have never been to Ballarat and would give me the opportunity to explore the west side of the Panamints.

Yep. Rock Novak only charges $3 per night to camp there. You can also camp on any BLM land which is all over the place and you can camp at Panamint Springs Resort if you want amenities. I think it's $10 per night for a tent site with showers.

You should have dropped the trailer and gone on with the jeep alone. You would have seen that it was rocky going up mengal, but you would have had no problem if you are able offroad. No shorting you just thinking you missed out and perhaps that fixed up bronco was not giving you the right feel for the trail.

I played with the idea. My initial plan was to go up the pass, spend the night around Barker Ranch and then head down Goler Wash to Ballarat. It was actually Goler Wash where the Bronco flipped his trailer.
When the summer heat mellows out I am planning on heading back, only this time leave the trailer at Ballarat and head up the wash for a day trip.

I was out in the desert pulling a trailer with a quad and a few buddies behind me. They had 2wd so we thought we were playing it safe going up what we thought was a trail. Turns out it was a wash because it continued to close in and turn more and more to sand. We thought we could push through until we were all but stuck haha getting us all turned around was an adventure alone. Good to turn around when you get that feeling haha. I appreciate your content and edits. I just subbed. I'd be pleased if you sub back but rather way, hope all is well.

Hi, I had the same experience in the Gold Butte area a year or so ago. Got trapped in a box canyon and it was quite the chore getting turned around. Now I will fly the drone ahead to "scout" what I'm getting in to. The trailer really has made me change my style, a lot less of a "let's see where this goes" attitude.
I did subscribe and will get notifications. Thanks!
