- The Massed Bands, Corps of Drums, and Pipes and Drums of the Household Division, and the Band and Bugles of The Rifles plus members of The Napoleonic Society march from Wellington Barracks to Horse Guards Parade to rehearse for 'A Military Music Spectacular' which takes place on the evenings of 12th and 13th June 2013.
Marches played are:
'Punjaub' by Charles Payne
'The Watch Tower' by Rudolf Herzer
'The Green Hills of Tyrol' by Rossini/Macleod
I was a Drum major in the Grenadier Guards back in the 50s, I am now 84, but that does not dim my memories of strutting along Birdcage Walk, before a lot of these young men were born, but they can still produce the magical sound that makes me swell with pride and think..."I WAS THERE ONCE!.".......well done lads!
You have every right to be proud, Rodney. What a wonderful sound.
Once a Guardsman always a Guardsman.
Thankyou for your service Sir.
Once a soldier always a Soldier... Rodney, you must be proud and your Country is proud of you.
Thank You for your service Sir. My dad was a Bandsman in the Lancs. Fusilliers and fought in WW2. There's nothing like a British Military Band. I shed tears each time I hear one. Thank you also dad. Miss you and love you forever
Hairs on my neck stand up every time I watch a British army marching band.
So full of tradition and skill. May we never fade away our history and be proud to be born British for ever.
PLENTY OF OOOOMPH nobody does it better
Stein Jensen 2 091968
I remember when rehearsing for beating the retreat at Pirbright to this.... the music got to me so much the drum Major shouted at me with a massive booming voice "KNIGHT YOU ARE NOT MARCHING YOU ARE FUCKING SWAGGERING" then the biggest smile I will never forget it...he didnt smile much but the march and music and pride got to him...
Your Military Tradition is something Special ,
Be proud of your Country

TonI Schasche I am very Proud of my Father. He was a Sargent Major in the Army in Gibraltar for 25 years
When the s - - t hits the fan & our backs are to the wall, it’s things like this that reminds me that although we are Welsh, Scots, Northern Ireland & English, we are first & foremost British.
Well said mate
As a Canadian who, with his brother and father who also served and now my son who is currently serving in the Canadian Forces, we are also proud to be members of the British Commonwealth of Nations. God Save the Queen.
THE GREATEST FREE SHOW IN LONDON Great Britain at its best
Never get sick of watching and listening. Only The British can do this so well.
This version of Punjaub is definitely the best version of it!!
Only the british can play such good military marches on the marching band. Fantastic brilliantly done. Thanks.
All as a show for the public as well is really nice of them.
What a great selection of marches, could listen to this all day.
Living in Montreal during the 30's the various bands, The Grenadeiers, Black Watch, marched regularly and they lifted the people spirits up..
As a retired USAF member, I am definitely enjoying these marches. As a teenager, I live in England for three years and have always had a very fond place in my heart for the peoples of Great Britain. The British Army marches are right up there with the Sousa marches for the American military. It would actually be nice to have a joint parade with the British military bands and American military bands as they play their various marches and parade both in London and Washington, DC.
@ USC1963
You might appreciate massed bands of the Royal Marines, USMC and Royal Netherlands Marines taking part in 'Beating Retreat 2014' which took place at HorseGuards on 3rd and 4th June this year. There are various uploads on RUclips... enjoy!
Oh and I also served with your guys in my time with the RAF and there was always a lot of banter and pride but a lot of mutual respect. And like you I would love the American people have a chance to witness 'Trooping the Colour' in Washington DC one year... we only need a bit of flat gravel!
USC1963 (
Hi we did exactly that on the Edinburgh tattoo I was a drummer and we were with the US Drill team. We trained and practised and spent many weeks with them. Awesome memories .. Great guys ... We also played cards in between performances lol ...
What fantastic music these British bands play, in such a beautiful setting. I am from Uruguay, I have been in London many times and enjoy British traditions. I liked Mr Angell-Baker comment. Thank you Messrs Troopingadmin for identifying the marches.
Priceless no where in the world is there anything as grand as British army bands ,so trump when you visit Great Britain and remember this
Never heard the Punjaub played so well... great bass section
I absolutely love the second march. The 'Watch Tower' is not a march we hear played very often but it should be, quite uplifting and played beautifully here. Thanks very much from Canada for uploading this. Thoroughly enjoyable...great video.
3:31 'The Watchtower' ? Come on, it's converted war loot. The original is a German march, 'Hoch Heidecksburg'.
Hoch Heidelberg , my all time favourite march
There is something about a military band that makes you get into step with the music even if haven't been in the military.
And, here we go again with a wonderfully incredible British military band. How could one ever go wrong with that sound.!!!
These are perhaps two of my favourite marches,,, stright back,,chest out,,,, no one can match these Guards,,,,,,
Royal Marines here hold my beer
Now that is pretty darned impressive right there.
Superb! Brings back past memories of serving in the British Army. Happy days!
Just outright brilliant !!!!
Absolutely unbeatable military marching music unequaled anywhere! Well done the Guards!
Love it when the Corps of Drums and band play together.
Simply the greatest military bands on this planet. Greatest respect for your service.
Robert Skelly I agree
Stunning, what skill and precision!
The massed bands of the Household division are the best in the world. No band can "beat" them. Thank you for posting this video.
bleker001 Royal marine massed band any day of the week
Sorry HMRM massed Bands, no one is as good or even close to Marine Band Service.
Well done Rodney, I for one am proud of you as of all our servicemen. Thank you for your dedication and making us feel proud.
Always amazing listening to these british military bands keeping up the high musical standards during marching. The march "Punjaub" is demanding, especially in the cornet parts, and even there are so many musicians playing this at the same time, it´s wonderfully kept together and performed. Impressive!
I cannot understand why anyone would to put a thumbs down to this music and parade, they have got to be made of stone. Maybe some of you would like to give all a reason why have disliked this video, I bet we don’t hear a thing.!! 🇬🇧👍🏻
Just a few words. Lefty cunts liberal/labour political elites / BBC //lefty students / Brexit remoaners / guardian readers /one of the biggest cunts out there James O'Brien LBC presenter that's a start
Just brilliant.
Gotta love the bass trombone!!!!
So damn "Sharp" and the second march they played was just wonderful.
Wow. That was stunning. Brilliant. Thank you for posting this. Such precision and instrumental perfection. I kind of got chills. Lol.
Only picked up these videos recently and am hooked completely. Used to play in a local town band (various instruments ) but was regularly called to beat the bass drum so this brings back happy memories of Somme day and Remembrance Day parades! Just excellent! Thanks for uploading.
Why oh why does everyone compare. We’re not the same and thank God for that,, but this video makes your hair stand on end. We’re bloody good., thanks boys.
Brings back such good memories of when you did it.
Fantastic.
It is more than brilliant , it is terrific .
What a March.will have this at my funeral on the way in..
Two of the best marches ever
Another typical day in wonderfull London !
Sauerland39 - you're right Hoch Heidesburg is originally a great German march but as was later said we know it as Watch Tower, it's a great march one I have marched to more times than I can count, it's the march of my Corps the Royal Military Police of the British Army
February 24 2023 and this still rocks. Love how they March in perfect formation.
Great selection of music.
This was fantastic Em .... so love bands, whichever type suits me, but my # 1 is a full-on Pipe band. Wow .... Excellent video.
One of my favourites, the old Punjaub and followed by Hoch Heidecksburg ( also called "The Watchtower").
Man i love the bass trombone verry nice
Great video thanks for posting
When it comes to pomp ceremony and drill no one can do it better than the Brits
I'm very fond of the "Punjaub March" as well as "The Watchtower" whose title is actually "Hoch Heidecksburg".
A wonderful sight and sound.
The best of the best british military marching band brilliant music D best in the world.
I'm from the USA and there are quite a number of British marches that I marched to and enjoyed when I was in the band at school. I've discovered two very fine Polish marches that you might like "Marsz Rzeczpospolita" and "Krakowski Dzicie". No, I can't pronounce them but they're exceptional and well worth hearing.
+SpeedyNeutrino172 I bet you had to look them up to spell them
+maria cornwallis ..Ms Cornwallis, you are RIGHT, even though I've finally memorized them by now.....however I DO still check the spelling.
This American loves this!! I would love to witness this in person!!
And this Englishman says you can get tickets to watch this You will be very welcome.
Regards from London UK
You’re ALWAYS welcome, here, cousin!
Almost a sexual experience for those of us who live for this stuff here in the States.
Steve, you’re a madman, with talk of sexual experiences and the trombone section- God Bless you!
Band of bugles

Absolutely brilliant!
Brilliant - thanks for posting.
Great recordings. I enjoy it very often. Greetings, F.Rens Netherlands.
Right on Cory Branch...I had the rare opportunity of seeing the massed bands of the Royal Marines. Spectacular doesn't even begin to describe the experience.
That was marvelous
Punjaub; it's a fantastic English March with an Indian style.

The best 8 minutes of my life!!!❤
I am not British, but if i was i would be very proud!
English, Welsh, Scott's, Irish, who ever, playing Punjab.. Thosr are the echos of the British Empire, still stirring the inner chords of the Commonwealth.
Geweldig bedankt voor het plaatsen
The five leaders at the front of the band look very smart in their dress and marching

Yet one more reason that validates my feakin love of being born English
Ian Robertson And 6:06 onward's for Scottish

My my, Ian...you seem distraught.
And you sound like a right nutter
Oha even a German March there ... really great
Brilliant!
Damn why is this bringing me to tears? I'm not even British :)
But you want to be
maria cornwallis Are you related to the General Cornwallis who was partly responsible for the Crown being defeated in America ?
Stephen Lediard No comment... lol
Because the human spirit knows no borders, that's why. Music speaks to the soul, regardless of the music type.
Stephen Lediard. The Crown was defeated in N America because at the same time the Brits were fighting Napoleon and his allies who greatly outnumbered them, and resources for N America were limited. The Brits defeated the French at the battle of Waterloo which prevented N America becoming a French colony. Actually the Brits weren't defeated because they kept Canada. Now try some more nationalistic propaganda.
Muy buenas las marchas inglesas, pueden oirlas ,muy acompasadas y alegres, se pasaron.Levantan el ánimo. en march to beating rehearsal, de junio 2013
AWESOME!
What a beautiful cacophony of sound. Pomp and Ceremony at its best, musical talent at its best. Thanks for vid,👍💂👍God Save the Queen, from the colonies in the South Pacific lol.

The Guards Band start with the march Punjaub by Charles Payne.
apresentação impecável. Movimentos perfilados perfeito. Digno de aplausos
Yet one more reason that validates my "freakin love of being British"
This is what it is to be British..... Makes me proud, what have other countries got to match this?....nothing..... and to have served in the best Army in the world bar none...this is what our heritage is all about..God save the Queen and our great nation.
I think Communist countries have more bigger than this one. God save your Queen hahah XD
+Enrile Fariz Bigger, yes....better? No.
+Enrile Fariz Big is not always best ask your wife...I love the Russian Army they do things well too...Tell me one country that has the Heritage going back to 1660 not many i know that much...
Fantastic video ,well done ,Punjaub sounds great , would have been nice to have been there.
Another fine German march you might enjoy is "Per Aspera Ad Astra", which is something like "Through adversity to the stars". Composed by Ernst Urbach.
Beautiful march, fine!!!
Absolutly brilliant fantastic marches. Although the Green Hills of Tyrol being bagpipes tends to as my Dad used say either stirs the blood or curdles it depending on how you feel about bagpipes for it stirs
