As an old soldier and an old Irishman it's great to hear the bands playing these old tunes, thanks a lot for posting. I wonder if they enjoy playing them as much as we love listening to them? Brilliant stuff.
Fantastic video! The marches played by the Massed Bands were, 1) 0:01-John Ryan's Polka 2) 0:39-Paddy McGinty's Goat 3) 1:54-McNamara's Band 4) 2:57-Dear Old Donegal 5) 4:29-Lilliburlero 6) 5:56-Sarafand
I love the start to this video. Just how the massed bands become louder and louder as they approach. Thanks for posting and for the list of tunes played.
All Brits should be very proud of your heritage. Don’t let the haters and woke idiots ever bring you down. Your country has so very much to be proud of. Enjoy the jubilee. Love from America.
Awesome! I am so glad to see this, Piers Mitchell, as your video of the Massed Bands marching to The Sword & The Crown ,last year was one of the videos that got me hooked on following them on youtube so enthusiastically. Thank you!
my mum was a British war bride and her love for her native country has greatly impressed me. She has now passed on (10 years now) but she would have loved this! I've seen the bands play a couple of times from the wall right by the gates; this is the next best thing!! Thanks for the post!!
Thanks for posting. I hope the UK realizes the importance of the military bands to their country - look at how thick the people are along the route and almost all have their phones out recording it. The US has nothing like this...too bad. The closest it comes to this is the US Marine Corps Composite Band in the Rose Parade. Always love the marches in minor keys.
If you're interested the US has something "similar" to Trooping the Colour, it's not the same but the closest we have in the US to a Trooping the Colour. It's the Marine Corps Friday evening parades in their Barracks in Washington, D.C. which happen in the summer months. Here's a link if you're interested ruclips.net/video/OV6fO1pbvNk/видео.html
Cameron Dall we are very very proud of ALL our Military and our Military bands have a number of ceremonies look out for Changing the Guard, Beating retreat and the Mountbatten Music Festival and on 2nd June there's Trooping the Colour, there should be even more people
Glad to see that you are still active, Piers! You and all the others who do this special form of "Youtubing" give enthusiasts outside Britain the much enjoyed possibility to "take part". A big Thankyou! You won't remember, but five years ago we had a very short meeting at the march to Beating Retreat on June 14th - part of my face is even to be seen for a fraction of a second in your video. Childish, I know, but I am still delighted by this memory.
Great to see the massed bands again. After having to watch a vastly reduced, scaled down version at Windsor Castle for the past 2 years, it will be wonderful to watch Trooping the Colour in all its glory again, from Buckingham Palace & Horseguards Parade. Nothing like these marching bands to bring a very patriotic lump to your throat.
I was near the front when people were allowed to walk down the Mall. I was also there three months later when Her Majesty's coffin was taken from Buckingham Palace into Westminster Hall. Ill never forget those moments.
I like how 2022 trooping the colour which is my favorite trooping the colour the massed bands play only irish marches Sarafand is also a irish march since it composed by a bandmaster of irish guards . Sarafand sounds really sounds good in 2022 trooping colour. One of my fav marches . Great view.
Never forget, as soon as these instruments are put down and their rifles are picked up, these are the best trained soldiers in the world, pure respect.
Be proud as long as you can. Your Greatgrandchildren will live in Britisthan. Like the rest of Europe will life in Francisthan, Netherlandisthan, Swedisthan etc. Dark age is coming back.
I'm so impressed wow wow wow marching and really great music. Wonderful 👍👍👍👍👍. I wish America could have parades again. Wow sincerely Seattle Everett Washington State 😁🐕🦺👍👍🇺🇸❤️
Can someone help me find the tune at 2:57. I think it’s “Seven Drunken Nights” but can’t be sure, and can find nothing from any variety of Google and RUclips searches.
I guess we are looking at the Irish guards. They played "If your Irish (come into the parlor"), "McNamara's band" and "Dear Old Donegal played by the pipers. Only in England would you hear Irish tunes played along with Mozart.
Very rousing - just a small point of correction though - leaving Wellington Barracks they march mostly up Birdcage Walk I think? The Mall is only after the Queen Victoria statue outside Buckingham Palace?
Ah, the pipes!! I only saw and heard one lone pipe during my one month visit in 2007. So disappointed. Luckily, we have the mass pipe bands every summer at our local Highland Games event. But still...

I love it, I am from the different part of the Globe and I like the sound of the Drums and the bagpipes.
a different version of Mcnamarea band for sure I never heard before
that first march is " Party in 3rd Class" Ryans Polka, from Titanic if I'm not mistaken, then followed by a medley Paddy McGintys Goat, McNamaras Band

Ehh, some parts of that heritage are a little questionable whether or not you should be proud of it, much like ours. But whatever.
Thank you ❤

Sadly very few people understand the importance of Army Music, that's why the bands are often the first to experience cutbacks.
Ireland and the World Wishes the military musicians the best for the Jubilee.

What wonderful counter-point at 2:30. The pipes at 3:11, outstanding with the drum line. I loved it madly.

Beautifully performed and marched! It must be such an honor to be a part of it.

Paddy Mc Ginty’s goat was a song by Val Doonican if I remember it well.👍

Its the Irish Guards Trooping their Colour this year. But all the Guards Regiments will be there by the look of it.
Its going to be magnificent.
Just like the victorian times when the lads marched to the auld tunes for God and the British Empire!!!

paddy McGinty’s goat followed by McNamara band classic Irish tunes.

Most the British army is on parade…
You don't need many well trained, well equipped soldiers to win a fight. Look and the Russian army to see that. Huge Army but a bag of shite.
