I had the pleasure of visiting Santa Maria Novella when I visited Florence 6 years ago. I still have a bottle of liqueur I purchased from there -- Elisir di Rose. It was fun watching your video and revisiting that beautiful place.
This is amazing, Sebastian. Gianluca Foa is really knowledgeable about the history of Santa Maria Novella. The monks were so diligent and attentive to detail. I feel like I am back in my first year of pharmacy school, learning the origins of natural products. Plants, extracts, and essential oils are an absolutely fascinating area of study. 🌺🌿🍊 Thank you for taking us on this tour. The architecture, frescoes, vintage lab apparatus...everything is so well preserved and pristine. Santa Maria Novella houses a treasure of artwork and important scientific pieces...quite a museum. ⚗️⚖️🗝️🇮🇹
You read my mind. I've been very curious about this house and can't wait until you post your videos about your purchases while you were abroad. Great work. 👍🏼👍🏼
This was absolutly fascinating to watch and learn from , the only one doing things like this on a top level 👍 i think i'll need to re watch just to fully take in all the information in this , so many little gems ☺ God i love seeing European architecture and decorating , espically classic ones like seen through out this 👌
Oh my God! I love Officina Profumo Santa Maria Novella! Such a great history and concept! I own 2 colognes from them: Vaniglia and Cinquenta. Just wonderful. Skin products are also very good. The vintage packaging of their products makes me feel like a time traveller! Thanks a lot for this video!
Wooooow!! I love all your videos but THIS one is amazing! I am a fan of Santa Maria Novella and know the place, but I wan’t able to get such a guided tour! Bravo 👏🏻
One of my favorite brands for many years! I almost bottle another perfume bottle today at Eataly. They started to carry it there now. Thank you for the tour! It’s been my dream to visit that location. So much history and beauty in one place. And I didn’t know about Benzoin. Interesting.
I'm glad that you made it! I spent an entire day there sniffing and came home with four bottles. Wow, it has gotten huge. No tea room when I was there. One room with jars on shelves. We were the only people there. Heard about it about 20 years ago from Rick Steves tour guide as a little-known off-the-beaten path place.
Great video Sebastian. I've been there a few years ago, this place is so amazing. My favorite SMN is aqua di colonie Frangipane, a beautiful blend of exotic flowers and aromatics herbs. Their Tuberose is great too, one of the most beautiful. Thanks for this vlog.
Thank you so much, Sebastian, for posting this absolutely fascinating video. I love Santa Maria Novella and own the Eau de Toilette and the Patchouli that I purchased in their boutique in London. I so want to visit Florence. The history was fascinating and it was fun watching the tourists in the background! This video was a treasure!!
Sebastian you sure travel in style. I've always wanted to visit SMN but never did but now I have through this wonderful and very detailed video. Thank you so much.
Great tour. I love SMN products and the history, fascinating stuff. Muschio and Lavanda Ambrata are two of my favorites, use both often. The quality is exceptional. 👍🏻
The New York shop is very beautiful an feels raw an organic kinda religious in a way. I believe as time evolve quality has declined within our new generation. Things are expensive but not with value. You don’t get what u pay for. This company makes me feel privileged to have a sense of what was an how things sound be. Prestige an quality with meaning. I appreciate them. I have sensitive skin an i dont have to break the bank to get authentic real products that actual does what’s intended for. An i get to learn something.
𝑨𝑩𝑺𝑶𝑳𝑼𝑻𝑬𝑳𝒀 𝑰𝑵𝑪𝑹𝑬𝑫𝑰𝑩𝑳𝑬! I was supposed to go back to Florence for a family reunion in March - though because of "2020", that obviously didn't eventuate. Now I have a new and fascinating place to explore, in the future! 🙏💕😍
This is amazing!!! Wow what an experience for you! and now for us!! I loved it, btw in the cosmetic world SMN skincare has a cult following. I can't wait to hear more about the fragrances from you!
i bought tabacco toscano here last week and i'm on the fence about Acqua della Regina before i leave . at 125$ for weak eau de cologne the scents don't last very long even on clothing which saddens me. it has been in the 90s here so perhaps cooler temps will last longer? i did get the samples pack. and they gave me the tabaco in a hand cream which is fabulous. i don't see it on there web site so maybe i should return and purchase even though grossly over priced. they do now for the fist time in 800 years they say make their first perfume level scent, L’Iris, their first Eau de Parfum its very floral and to me very feminine, 245$ for 100ml.
oh, i forgot as a side note this was the film location for the movie Hannibal filmed at several locations here in Florence. Hannibal Lecture buys hand cream for the FBI agent tracking him, Clorise Starling, seen in the security cam. the "noses" describe Tennessee lavender, ambergris, and wool notes. i asked but alas just got blank stares from the 20 year old employees who where not even born when the movie was made. that's too bad as it sounds like a great combo.
