My favorite part is close to the end, where the bag pipe starts playing. Having such a wonderful song ending with a classical, british instrument is truly outstanding!
No question why Phil sought you out. This puts me in such a great mood. Music is an amazing thing. Next time you speak with Phil can you let him know we love him. 😎
Na minha opinião esse é um dos maiores baixista do mundo ........o cara é fera . Também olha a banda de que ele era baixista , não precisa falar mais nada 😊
I would love to go back in time and be a fly on the wall in the studio when these brilliant tracks were created.... but with the added bonus of knowing them already. When you hear a new song.. its just a new song. You don't know it. You cant sing along, break it down into its sub parts. Its when you've played it over and over for 32 years (as i have) that you know all the parts. As a crap keyboard and drum player i love to section each part and learn it to basically rip it off. Phil is one of my all time great artists along with Howard Jones & Dire straits to name a couple. Phil played drums on one of Howard's tracks and i love smashing away to that on my TD9 kit. Its a great shame that Phil is so poorly now after playing drums for many years. Such a shame. I've just found your videos and its great to hear these parts "straight from the horses mouth" as it were. Thank you.
Mr Sklar, I now hear songs in a completely different way and that's great as I can revisit so many of my favorites and love them all over again. I can't thank you enough.
Love your little chats as well as your laid back playing, Phil Collins one of my favourites, can’t stand the music that is coming out now, all the best lee from scotland
I play guitar but sometimes I just listening to the bass in songs simply because it the fundation in most music. And you are able to show so much emotions with your bass playing. Fantastic! (sorry for my lack of words in english)
My Friends Wife, and Daughter barely escaped the Creek fire. They drove over embers escaping, and that was two days ago. Today, he is telling me that everything is crazy. I live in Miami, but we have humid heat, and CA is dry, which is not good. Bless you, and all this lovely music you play for us each evening. Thanks.
Years ago I was working for the state parks in NY. I volunteered to strap a 50lb water tank to my back and climb up the mountain. Hardest thing I ever did. I was ready to throw up when I got to the fire. That was just one day so I can’t believe what those guys go through doing it for weeks on end not to mention putting their own lives in danger.
In Oakland sunrise had a red sun, that turned orange by 08:30, and the climax of California fire season has yet to occur. Today's song 'That's Just the Way It Is' perfectly fits our current status.
Hope the firey's cope OK over there... We lost over 170 lives on 'black Saturday' in Victoria 2009...not to mention the roos, koalas, wombats etc... I rode through the area on the old Ducati a week after...so eerie to see the charred remains of the bush... But the regeneration of life soon after was even more incredible.. Nature is so amazing...it won't bring back the friends & folks we lost, but it's inspiring to see how people rally round & how mother nature came back stronger than ever after such devastation... Such is life !!
The richness of tone from Frankenstein........it is utterly gorgeous....velvet. Perhaps the most lovely bass sound I’ve ever heard. I understand why you cherish it so much....
School started for me this week so I have been so busy getting my classrooms ready that I haven't had time to the last couple days to really sit and enjoy my daily music with you. I look forward to this each day. Love this song. Thank you again for bringing us such knowledge and enjoyment of music. Please stay safe with all that is going on in California right now. ❤
Thank you soooo much Lee for entertaining us with your beautiful presence and music. I'm just lucky to spend my time on this planet at the same time you are. Cheers!!
Gosh, I love this album! It’s so smooth, so rich of colours and sounds. The vibes of these songs goes so deep. The atmosphere of these notes is outstanding beautiful 💕
Proud to be the 300th thumbs up. And, so pleased to be part of the Sklarite movement. The voice of reason and care for mankind. Much needed I think us Sklarites would agree. Until tomorrow sir. A UK fan in London and his fiancee, Karen.
No! KEEP TALKING Lee! I so look forward to this site and your daily updates. I know you really miss being on the road but the upside to this pandemic is the fact that you started doing these videos so THANK YOU!
Man on the corner is another one that is a good example of the drum machine setting the tone. Thanks Lee for introducing me to lots of Phil Collins songs I didn't know about and other artists as well. Take care.
Went back to work at my office today for the first time since March. It went ok but there was some anxiety at being around so many people for 7 hours. Perfect song to come home to is my point. That’s just the way it is now. PPE and casual office conversations at 2 metres apart. Stay safe and thanks for the beautiful song and cool tuning tip.
Next week I will go to my office for the first time since March as well. Will be interesting to see if they still recognize me. Would wear my brandnew Sklar-hoodie but hoodie with tie looks a little bit strange, maybe. ;-)
Very atmospheric but maybe not so much without the e=f slide. Now I want to hear more with this bass overplaying and my headphones on. It's a new take on lovely sounds. You are a treasure.
About the time you were playing and posting, I was listening to Phil's audiobook. He was talking about his mindset while he was recording the "But Seriously" album - how he was looking inward, due to the birth of his daughter, as well as outward, due to the state of the world. He also gave background regarding three of the other songs on that album. What a tremendous collection of remarkable work. I'm so glad to see you perform this today. Thanks so much for this and for suggesting Phil's audiobook. Just hearing him narrate is a treat! I recommend it wholeheartedly. ✌🏼❤️🤟🏼
Thank you for sharing and making those of us who inspire to play, how connected we can be connected to the artist and the music so simply but so complete. Our granddaughter said you play so easy and yet sounds so beautiful. The kid never lies.
Just crazy - how the fire looks and smells, and how it’s already affected the weather. Woke up this morning with a very raw throat from the poor air quality. Reminds me of the Station Fire 11 years ago. Stay safe Leland and everyone else who is in the areas of this or any of the many other fires raging right now.
Great to hear you as always Lee, thank you for posting these little insights into what's happening in your world, along with some cool blasts from your past. Take care out there fella.
It's awful up here in the Bay Area too. Nothing like a side of smoke, ash and heat to go with a pandemic. Let's please get through this (and the rest of 2020) as soon as possible. Thanks for your positive words.
Thinking of the people in California. Looking forward to buying the book. Great song. Best community on RUclips. Western North Carolina checking out after another great video.
Lee, I have relatives who live near you. They are in Woodland Hills and definitely experience the same ashen sky and landscape. Of course, I need to give them a call to check-in. I wish you well, kind sir, through these trying times.
Leland I'm a drummer and always look to other types of players for motivation and other things. I always listen to the bass player and always look for that groove that just hits it home. I think I can speak for some others when I say you are the Yoda of bass players. Keep up the videos and hope to see ya on stage someday soon.
Dear Mr Sklar. Would it be possible to play along Phil’s song It’s not too late. I think it is one of his very best songs You played it at the end of his farewell tour in Paris. Haunting beauty. Please let him kmow. Hope to hear it one more time
Thanks for the sounds! "Frank" is one of a kind on many levels. I have family in Yucaipa who were prepared for an evacuation order Sunday evening. Providence shifted the fire another direction, so all is well for now. Still, that was the closest a disaster like that has come to one of my own. Make one think a little more....
I really feel for you guys over there with all that smoke in the air. How, why do these fires start, is it an annual thing, couldn't cope with that?! Interesting shifting the E string up to F, great effect!
Can't believe Phil asking if he could call him Arse...short for Arsenio. David all dressed up! David's voice always fits.👍😎❤🖖 Was listening to Waddy on Keefs "Talk Is Cheap" album. Great stuff👍😎❤ Love brother.
One of the greatest bassist of all time and, certainly, the best beard ever.
My favorite part is close to the end, where the
bag pipe starts playing. Having such a

instrument is truly outstanding!
No question why Phil sought you out. This puts me in such a great mood. Music is an amazing thing. Next time you speak with Phil can you let him know we love him. 😎
Just wow.. the bass playing, the song choice, the lyrics, gosh, all just right, perfect for the reality. :emotional:
Na minha opinião esse é um dos maiores baixista do mundo ........o cara é fera .
Também olha a banda de que ele era baixista , não precisa falar mais nada 😊
Love the simplicity of the bass lines on this great tune, just flows ! 🙏

This song is about the troubles in Northern Ireland incredible lyrics
Mr Sklar, I now hear songs in a completely different way and that's great as I can revisit so many of my favorites and love them all over again. I can't thank you enough.
Another I knew every word to and by heart! Haven’t heard it in many moons. Such a mellow bass!
You're a bright light in a dark world, sir!
Love your little chats as well as your laid back playing, Phil Collins one of my favourites, can’t stand the music that is coming out now, all the best lee from scotland
You are simply an exquisite bass player, Lee. Every note has purpose and an intention behind it. And it shows.
I play guitar but sometimes I just listening to the bass in songs simply because it the fundation in most music. And you are able to show so much emotions with your bass playing. Fantastic! (sorry for my lack of words in english)
The sustain that Frankenstein has is just incredible. I'd say that experiment was a success.
It's got such a great tone aswell
I finished the video and I can still hear the sustain.
I closed RUclips and I can still hear the sustain.
One month later and do you still hear it? 😄
@@stephangielisse5527 hmmm..... YES!!!
Aloha Haisai Lee mahalo from Okinawa. Luv this song. Take care praying for rain for Cali🙏🏼🤙🏻
Thank you for spreading love to fire fighters and people who are struggling in this pandemic.
My word this is such beautiful playing 👏👏
Your playing is exquisite.

Great musician and story teller. I enjoy listening

I will certainly be getting a book and firefighters are the absolute best!!
Love everything Phil has done, since being a fan for 40 years.
Cheers Lee 👍

Fave part of the video 12:06 where you go back into another zone when i thought you had come back out and was speaking..
This sustain gives me shivers
As they would say in England, a real cool Geezer!!.
Good evening Dear Leland 🙏🏻 and all the Phil's fans!
September with Judith and Pedro was so cool ! 👏🏻

What a beautiful bass line again! Thank you for that and your generous compassion and appreciation for first responders

Very atmospheric but maybe not so much without the e=f slide. Now I want to hear more with this bass overplaying and my headphones on. It's a new take on lovely sounds. You are a treasure.
Hey Lee, support your support for the emergency workers, and love your music sharing.
Franken Bass is by far my favorite!!!!
Beautiful. Just beautiful. Thank you Mr Sklar, and thank you Mr Collins.
That's just the way it must be played 😉

Great performer and Great Man !!
Great, what a clear bass sound. Interesting why you change the lowest string!
That song is just... soothing. Thank you Mr. Sklar and good night.
Thank you for sharing and making those of us who inspire to play, how connected we can be connected to the artist and the music so simply but so complete. Our granddaughter said you play so easy and yet sounds so beautiful. The kid never lies.
You are such a quality guy, beautiful soul. Thank you, just thank you.
If tomorrow's one is a Phil one, could it be "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning"? Looking forward to that one even though it's quite short :).
Some things will never change 😁
IS A GOOD START PLAYNG FOR MEALS,I DID THE SAME THING MANY YEARS AGO
Thank you so much for letting us hear just how great Frankenstein is after the song as well! That just reached right in and got me! 💜💓💓💓

I lived in Seattle when Mt Saint Hellens blew back in tb 80’s. Wild times for sure.
Fantastic...Thanks Leland!
I would love to see you play I wish it would rain down!

Firefighters have the roughest gig in summer. Simple can sometimes be more powerful than complex material
Super Awesomeness and Thanks.....

Another wonderful history lesson 👍
Horribly hot coming back with the Santa Ana arriving tonight! Welcome to California and all the bureaucracy that comes along with doing business here.
👏👏👏👏👏
Nice choice for a Tuesday song 🎵 ... loved it.
Be safe while out and about. Thanks so much.
