I was lucky enough to see Big Country in Phoenix Park, Dublin, in August 1983 on the same bill as U2, Simple Minds, Eurythmics and Steel Pulse. All of them were at their peak, the sun shone all day and the ticket cost only about a tenner. Certainly the best tenner I ever spent.
Big Country should be considered with the greats of Rock Music! Tighter than a camels chuff in a sandstorm. Brilliant lyrics and such stage presence They had it all
They remind me today's bands like Kings of Leon, or Interpol, the sound is very actual. Probably the difference between them and U2 is that the 2nds are more famous. Great band! 💜
Theres been a few good bands come out of Dunfermline. Big Country,Skids,Nazareth. Even if you're not a pop music fan I'm sure you'll have heard of Barbara Dickson too.
This is better than the studio recordings of these songs…the vocals were too forward in the studio and here, the most interesting part of their music for me, the two guitar players, are in their proper place in the mix for a rock band: right up front without drowning everything out. Brzezicki is such a powerful drummer he doesn’t need to be boosted 😂
Saw them in Liverpool in 83 & 84 great concerts and as a kid u never forget how cool SA was … RIP

Tony, how lucky are you?! 💜

They are in my top 5 of all times!!
Possibly the most original and unique sounding rock band ever. Thanks for posting this
Agreed!!!
The most original and inovative rock bands ever!!!
And masters of effects!!
Underrated and 40 years ahead of their time. Sounds like an indie band from today.
??????? How can a band that is hugely popular, selling millions of records be that ur word?
@@pressureworks By underrated i mean that they didn't get the credit deserved for helping to transform pop music in the early 80s.
@@pjl8119 ask people on the street what the words unfamiliar and underrated mean.
Never knew they did a peel session.very enjoyable indeed.
Just fantastic, what musicianship. That's what I like about Peel sessions, you get the real band before some producer has fiddled with everything.
One of the best live shows I ever saw. RIP Stuart
Fuckin' love Porrohman, great version here. Thanks
Man this is so fucking awesome, at least a year before their debut. 1000 stars sounds fantastic.
Amazing band
Top upload!
1983.....nowhere near their "peak"....and how tight!....just incredible...great band, and as stuart said "musicians not pop stars".
Stunning! (: ))
Epic band, epic guitars, SA one of a kind.
AWESOME
Yes.... that'll do !!!

U2 were able to find a market in the US. That’s the difference.

That guy from The Skids.
The Skids have reunited with the original singer who played with Stuart and brought Bruce and Jamie on board.
So that's pretty cool.
That guy from the Skids was a bloody genius. Wish he were still with us.
