Looking good! Few ideas if you'd like... 1) Terms for videos - I know it's a pedantic point to make, but something I've found useful to go on is to 'standardize' the terms used. For example, if an infantry 'regiment' consists of 1 unit of pikemen and 2 of musketeers (as they're often sold), I will usually call each unit a company, the 3+ units become a regiment, then - if I field multiple regiments under a single commander in the game (what Pike and Shotte calls a battalia) - I will label them either a corps of brigade, depending on if it's a mix of infantry and cavalry regiments or (as I usually played them) a single unit type (ie infantry regiments or cavalry regiments). 1.1) If I only field a regiment of 3 companies under a battalia commander, I'll simply call it a regiment. This can still be pikes and musketeers, but I've recently been planning to expand this method to my cavalry, making cavalry regiments with 1 cuirassier company and 2 companies of reiters/pistoliers or harquebusiers. 2) Painting Germans in Swedish service - I like how the Black Regiment looks, but I'd probably try making them look more like the HRE troops except for the flags. The same principle applies for Gustavus' Scottish regiment. I'd expect those Scots to look like they were wearing normal civilian attire. You made a few references to using Swedish colors as the reminder/visual key that they're part of the Swedish Army, but I'd simply skip on that. 3) Captains, colors, musicians, and sergeants - since every company should be led by a captain (both historical and game purposes), I'd put an officer up front and center for the unit. Next to him would be the company's color sergeant/standard bearer (if you have any available). That much is pretty normal from what I've seen. However, I would recommend placing the musician and any sergeant models you have at the BACK of a company, especially pike blocks. Musicians acted in the role of communications, so it would often be at the back of the formation to relay orders from higher (the regimental, corps, or army level) to the company commanders up front. Similarly, it was a sergeant's job to ensure the unit didn't run without orders, so would be at the back with partisans and halberds. Regardless of whether these ideas fit with what you have or not, these models look truly great! Thanks for sharing them.
@@xAndre922 Great. It is a very good way to start small with one little box and try it as you did. And see if you like it. So you dont end up with a pile of shame you never will paint. 👍
Thank you Dom. Great, those I want to see. I need to gain strenght again to jump on the Epic big box. I have to paint up the entier Imperial army for Epic. That gives me nightmares. 😀
Those look really good, you did a great job there and totally agree about flags of war, just got a load of flags for my montrose/highland royalist army and they're really good.
Thank you. Is it hard to paint up Montrose/highlanders? Think I need some Mercenaries for the Swedish army. There are many other range of flags out there that are also very good, going to order some GMB flags for my HYW project.
The highlanders are as your painting tartan and even me being scottish dosent make it easier, its not hard just very time consuming.I might be wrong but i think you could use the covenanters box set as i think there was scottish army regiments as mercenarys in gustav adolphus army.
