Carried a leek while deployed, on my IOTV so I had my strap cutter on one side and the leek on the other so in the advent of a rollover I could always get my hand on a knife to cut the seat belt harness even if one arm was trapped . That leek was my EDC for years after, until I lost it at a weapon search point at a Jethro Tull concert. I miss it and will be ordering a new one soon. Greatest EDC I’ve ever had
Made my wife a leather edc organizer and I chose the Leek for her knife. The kit also includes a Zebra 701 and an Olight T3. She didn’t realize how useful the knife and kit would be and commented not too long ago how handy it was to have it. She likes having the safety.
This is my favorite of my favorites, have had three, lost the first one, bought two more. So many options, spend a little or alot. It gets the three s's, slim, sleek, slick. It just cannot be be beat, and best of all, USA made.
I bought a kydex sheath for mine, I carry it as my neck knife sometimes. On the package it says, RAM Kershaw Leek Kydex Sheath Knife Holder 1660 also got one for my chive RAM KYDEX CHIVE SHEATH 1600. Picked mine up at a local shop. Just in case anyone was interested.
I carry a black Kershaw Launch 6, gave my son a silver Launch 7 to replace his Boker and for my daughter, who didn't want an auto, a Leek. Toughest decision is silver of blue! Great knives!
I have the carbon fiber version with CPM-154. Love the knife, hated the clip. I replaced the too big tip down clip with a third party deep carry tip up clip. It went from a good EDC knife to a great EDC knife with this change.
I have beat on this knife for years. The tip has held up great. Nothing matches the thin blade stock. The black coating has worn in places, after scraping cement etc., but all the better for the patinaed look. Changed the clip to a deep carry from LNW. The leek is truly the perfect EDC for me, at work and at play. Unbelievable value.
About six years ago when I was living in West Texas, I came across a Leak in a pawn shop. I had seen Leaks before. At that time, Big 5 sports stores occasionally would have a sale on these knives at $30. The Leak didn't greatly appeal to me but this pawn shop specimen (basic model/bunt orange aluminum scales) had "Thunderbird" professional engraved on the non-pocket clip scale. I paid $20 for it. It turns out that this knife was sold at the Thunderbird Hotel in Marfa TX as a tourist souvenir. The Thunderbird Hotel is an old motel turned upscale Hotel at the small, southern West Texas artist colony/tourist town of Marfa. Marfa is semi-famous for the "Marfa Lights" phenomenon. The Leak is a sweet, slim, light and handy little knife but when it comes to that sort of thing I prefer my SOG Twitch II. Like the Leak, the Twitch has a manual safety. This bothered me to the degree that I disabled the safety with a tiny drop of gel-type Super Glue. So...for whatever that's all worth....
I think the smooth stainless handle and really thin profile makes the Leek a great gentleman’s folder. I love the Leek but the torsion bar in mine broke, I need to send it back to Kershaw, or I could fix it myself. I hear they have a great warranty and customer service.
You'll understand the lock if you ever have one go off and then you cut your hand badly reaching into pocket. Then you got to super glue your finger shut at the bar. That said, yeah it's the best EDC of all time for sure. It's the only edc knife I've ever given as a gift, and I've given a ton of them. Can't go wrong kind of thing, men or women. I still have the same one from nearly 15 years ago going strong, the one before that I broke tip off.
I cannot for the life of me understand this fear of an assisted knife opening in your pocket. I carry a leek every day and I’ve never once ever had it or any other knife open in my pocket lol
Love the Leeks.. Few random thoughts...... The Leek was first sold in 2002, not 2000. You don't need to take the blade lock off of the knife, you only need to tighten it down and it won't move. The Random Leek was released long ago, its not a new release or new blade shape. There has been around 10 or so different versions of the Random Leek. Cool video ....... thanks!
I have a couple of Leeks. I really like them. The only issue I have with them is that the handles are quite slippery. Other than that I love Kershaw knives. Have about 10 altogether and love them.
I carry a leak a Kershaw leak since they’ve started putting them on the market. I’ve wore out my first one and I’m working on my second they hold an edge like no other they’re convenient for their size. My grandfather gave me my first knife and if he was alive today, I’d give him a leak Because this knife is the knife the completes a man’s apparel. I slide mine in my pocket every day no matter where I’m going except on an airplane it’s convenient stay sharp and there’s always there when I need it people ask why I carry the leak pocket knife I say it’s the arm that God didn’t give me , thank you Kershaw for making a very perfect fitting knife
I have a couple of Leeks, and they're nice little knives. The only cons are the blade shape, as I prefer clip or drop points to wharncliffe blades, and the blade length, as I prefer three and a half inches or more.
My father has carried a leek for years. The only issue he has ever had was broken tips. I really like Spyderco manix 2, but the leek is a great edc knife and very slicey.
I replaced the clip on mine with a deep carry titanium clip from Lynch NW and now it carries very nicely tip up. It has transformed the knife from meh to one of my favorite EDCs. I think it cost me $20 and it was well worth it.
I'd say it's a solid edc choice, very popular, well designed, high-value production knife, but....no far from the best edc ever made or even the best production edc. I own that random leek--same one you show here. Love the knife--not my best edc.
This is the knife that has turned me off on assisted opening and flippers. Ripped through a pocket on jeans when the blade discharged in my pocket when pulling something out of my pocket.

Thanks for your service and for sharing the story! Hope the concert was good at least 👍
@@SMKWcom it was awesome
Got my leek in 2002 and still carry it. Love it. I have lot of knives and this one ends up in my pocket 90% of the time.
Nothing like the test of time to show which ones really work 👍
Same here

A lot of choices in color and materials without breaking the bank!
Still rocking my Olive Leek after a decade
I have the 1660 teal leek and it is a great knife bought my buddy one too he carries it all the time and yes got bought from SMKW.
Thanks for watching and for the orders!
I have a couple of Leeks, the composite with 14c28n / D2 and the carbon fiber with CPM-154. Both great knives.
We love the composite leeks!
I own a passel of Leeks and love them. It is my preferred carry when I leave my Free State and feel the need to conceal my carry.
Thanks for watching B!

A neck knife leek! That is awesome 👍
The Leek and the Blur are the only two assisted knifes I own. They're both great!
Love my very early Blur
I have a Leek and a Blur as well. Both outstanding knives.
It may indeed be the best EDC knife of all time. I totally love the ones I own. I may need to buy another now!
None of us have ever said no to another great knife 👍

We love having the ability to switch and swap parts that a larger knife community gives us now days 👍
I love the history lesson. Very good. I like the black stone wash.❤
We love the history of knives! From the makers to the design and even the materials used in making them

It always amazes us how long and how much work some folks Leek holds up to!

Thanks for sharing! We love hearing a good knife tale and the Leek is awesome for customizing or putting branding on 👍
It’s a GREAT starting place and handy around the house!
💯
Like SMKW , Kershaw is outstanding 🇺🇸
Thanks Prop!
Great knives I've always liked Kershaw's!!
Thanks Mike!

Kershaw is great and here is how to reach out to them kershaw.kaiusa.com/warranty

A safety lock is never a bad thing
Must be popular. I keep hearing about leeks in the news.😂

You have a whole section of the garden dedicated to Leeks!
I love mine, and looking for another..
We can help with that lol

Yep I love mine great knife thanks for your review !

A whole new line of Leeks! Sautéed Leek with a drop point, Fried Leeks with a Sheepsfoot, and Leek Soup with a Tanto!
Had mine in pocket today
Same!
That is awesome!
I bought my first Leek the first year they came out.
It always feels like we are in the know when we pick up a new/year one knife
Great knifes carry one and have gifted about 10 of them.
Nice gifts!
I feel like a button lock would sell amazingly well.
A button lock Leek? Sign us up!
Yes it is, I sold mine last year now I regret it, I'm going to buy another one
The Leek is awesome! Let us know which new one you pick out
I do own a NATRIX AND BRAWLER
Do y'all have the leak with carbon fiber in stock

Love my Leek.
Leeks are awesome!
You should check out the copper leek
My father has carried a leek for years. The only issue he has ever had was broken tips. I really like Spyderco manix 2, but the leek is a great edc knife and very slicey.
Maybe the random leek next for him?
The Random Leek is awesome!
@@darenmcgovern4285 I always just reground another tip for him.
I own 2 leeks. my edc work carry as a chef.
You know it is a great knife when you have more than one of them!
Bad link to store for Leeks!
I wished it carried tip up. But it's s good knife.
I replaced the clip on mine with a deep carry titanium clip from Lynch NW and now it carries very nicely tip up. It has transformed the knife from meh to one of my favorite EDCs. I think it cost me $20 and it was well worth it.
We love Lynch 👍
@@SMKWcom does lynch convert
The safety closed on mine after deploying the blade. I closed the blade and it broke the safety off.
But I love my leek
My leek... got it november 2022 and it lasted till march 2023. About 20 openings a week. It broke yesterday. No more leeks....
I'd say it's a solid edc choice, very popular, well designed, high-value production knife, but....no far from the best edc ever made or even the best production edc. I own that random leek--same one you show here. Love the knife--not my best edc.
We love the quote, "The best knife you have is the one in your pocket"
What’s your favorite edc?
@@samsykes8616 Right now it is my Spyderco Chap in CTS-XHP, but if you go up in price there are definitely ones I'd rather have.
I think the Blur is much better?
We love the Blur as well!
This is the knife that has turned me off on assisted opening and flippers. Ripped through a pocket on jeans when the blade discharged in my pocket when pulling something out of my pocket.
Can it open in your pocket by accident ?
Every time I have a leek I end up in the bathroom.
We had a leek under the sink and used the Leek to help fix it!
Lol…nice bracelets, my 11 year old daughter wears a bunch like that also, I guess that is what is hip.
They were sent to us by some awesome people in the knife community and we love to show them support! Shout out to the CDC (Crispy Doughnut Community)
Safety sucks on the leek. But I love it overall. Use the frick outta mine.
Thanks for watching
random leek for me. 👌
💯
👍🏻👍🏻🤠🤠
🙌🙌🙌
had one, didn't like it and gave it away
thanks for watching

Speedsafe is trash, every single one ive bought broke in a few months
No. It’s made in the communist state of Oregon.
