True, we won’t be hearing Jake belt out notes as high as Charice did, but I think being able to perform so well despite having a lower range is impressive. I adore both voices, but I’m happy that he’s able to continue doing what he loves while being true to himself.

@@2011blueman Mans gotta retrain his upper belts before he starts doing all those vocals all over again. Also, maybe don't be bitter that he transitioned over his voice. His OG voice was only as dark and heavy as it was due to tongue root tension, His voice overall has actually improved in terms of technique since he transitioned, he's just lost a lot of his range and agility due to transitioning. Plus, a lot of his vocal qualities are still there. His lower register is pretty decent, his voice is still heavy and his pre-belts are some of the best I've heard in general. That's something I don't think he had before transitioning.

When you sing a cover of a song you should offer your own artistic spin on it just like Whitney Houston did to Dolly Parton's song "I Will Always Love You" and turned it in to a global smash hit. Charice just like most of her peers only imitated the songs and sung them exactly like the original artist before her did copying every vocal run and stealing every inflection without originality like at a karaoke bar (though she could really sing well). That's what Virgilio probably meant when he said that Jake is a karaoke singer - because it's only an imitation at this point and never as good.

Of course it's gonna sound different when the voice deepens. It's hard to sing the deeper voice you have, because you have more to handle. Like for Jake, suddenley he got much more, and deeper, voice . Of course it might sound like he's a karaokeboy in the beginning. We all just need to wait for a while, he'll get to know how his new voice feels and sounds like, and will be able to know it's limits.

Lulu Ivona that’s a good question actually. When a person transitions that make their body start to produce the hormones of the gender that are transitioning into. As a result (depending which direction they’re going) it causes they’re vocal range to raise or lower, along with several other physical changes.
As I singer myself, I cherish the fact that I have a nice range but Charice's voice was a gift from God and I feel it was a disservice for her to let that voice change and morph to fit Jake now. It's her life and I support her 100% on doing what she feels right but why tamper with that amazing voice. I wish Charice the best. THE VOICE will be truly missed indeed.

Charice hands down... not even close. We have lost possibly one of the most epic singers of this generation. To be singing with celine, David foster, and more at such a young age and owning the stage is truly rare. We have lost a legend before she even had a chance to become legendary

Ok let’s take sexuality out of this conversation, because I am not even having it. In my opinion, charice’s potential and ceiling was way higher than Jake. Again, in my opinion. We obviously have much more of Jake to see over the years, so only time will tell. And I guess I am biased because I am a huge sucker for female power ballads (esp Whitney) and she sang it flawlessly every single time.

True, we won’t be hearing Jake belt out notes as high as Charice did, but I think being able to perform so well despite having a lower range is impressive. I adore both voices, but I’m happy that he’s able to continue doing what he loves while being true to himself.

Also, maybe don't be bitter that he transitioned over his voice. His OG voice was only as dark and heavy as it was due to tongue root tension, His voice overall has actually improved in terms of technique since he transitioned, he's just lost a lot of his range and agility due to transitioning.
Plus, a lot of his vocal qualities are still there. His lower register is pretty decent, his voice is still heavy and his pre-belts are some of the best I've heard in general. That's something I don't think he had before transitioning.

When you sing a cover of a song you should offer your own artistic spin on it just like Whitney Houston did to Dolly Parton's song "I Will Always Love You" and turned it in to a global smash hit. Charice just like most of her peers only imitated the songs and sung them exactly like the original artist before her did copying every vocal run and stealing every inflection without originality like at a karaoke bar (though she could really sing well). That's what Virgilio probably meant when he said that Jake is a karaoke singer - because it's only an imitation at this point and never as good.

Of course it's gonna sound different when the voice deepens. It's hard to sing the deeper voice you have, because you have more to handle. Like for Jake, suddenley he got much more, and deeper, voice . Of course it might sound like he's a karaokeboy in the beginning.
We all just need to wait for a while, he'll get to know how his new voice feels and sounds like, and will be able to know it's limits.
exactly!!!! He had 23 years with his old voice, he's only had 2 years with this one, he needs time to settle into it. Already he sounds incredible and he sounds HAPPY which is what matters! He'll get even better with practice too!

Lulu Ivona that’s a good question actually. When a person transitions that make their body start to produce the hormones of the gender that are transitioning into. As a result (depending which direction they’re going) it causes they’re vocal range to raise or lower, along with several other physical changes.

As I singer myself, I cherish the fact that I have a nice range but Charice's voice was a gift from God and I feel it was a disservice for her to let that voice change and morph to fit Jake now. It's her life and I support her 100% on doing what she feels right but why tamper with that amazing voice. I wish Charice the best. THE VOICE will be truly missed indeed.
The GospelJukeBox look man I agree that her voice was a rare and precious gift, one of the greatest off all time imo but what's the point if he can't be himself and will just lead a sad life, a life for others and not himself, which is pointless. So while I mourn the loss off Charice's voice and this video made me so so sad I can't fault him for wanting happiness and love, we all do.

@@koreandramaintheuk7757 Sorry to burst your bubble, but even if he did detransition, he wouldn't get his old voice back. He'd need vocal feminization surgery for that, which is prone to all kinds of issues. Plus, I'm not too sure if that actually effects the singing voice.
Charice hands down... not even close. We have lost possibly one of the most epic singers of this generation. To be singing with celine, David foster, and more at such a young age and owning the stage is truly rare. We have lost a legend before she even had a chance to become legendary

She was an epic singer. She lived a life every other singers can only dream of, having that voice, that range of vocal, recruited by David Foster, singing with Celine, ackowledged by the world as a rising star, but she cast those privilege away for something she believes in. Lets just hope she can rise again and we can once again experience the magic of her voice in Jake. Otherwise it will be a HUGE loss for the world of music.

Ok let’s take sexuality out of this conversation, because I am not even having it. In my opinion, charice’s potential and ceiling was way higher than Jake. Again, in my opinion. We obviously have much more of Jake to see over the years, so only time will tell. And I guess I am biased because I am a huge sucker for female power ballads (esp Whitney) and she sang it flawlessly every single time.
