Shes not a complicated villian but shes very good for the same reason Ursula is. Also the fact shes THE FAIRY GODMOTHER. When shrek rebels against her, its not just him rebelling against a greedy witch, but the very storyline conventions the shrek films are about subverting. She's the manifested metaphor of the "perfect happy ending" that shrek needs to compete against.
I consider Fairy Godmother Shrek best villain and one of the funniest Animated villains, so I agreed with you, you only need four words to descript her, she is a savage, two faced and charismatic manipulator. Her motive maybe a bit cliche but I don't think that's the focus, the focus is how funny and manipulative she is, the climax is definite her funniest and memorable scene, every time I heard of "Holding out for a Hero" I'll just remember that scene, fairy godmother and Shrek 2. Can't wait to see your next villain review.
3:36, I think Prince Charming works best when he is the butt of the joke and there are scenes in Shrek 3 like that (like when Shrek taunts Charming during the performance) but with him being the main villain that can’t be consistently maintained hence the need for Fairy Godmother to have a comedic balancing act
On top of the fucked up implications of the potion, I also have to wonder if Fairy Godmother was also going to find a way to... get rid of Fiona after the marriage. Think about it. Her transformation in Shrek 2 was very temporary. And her curse was already broken, making her fully an ogre. And we all saw how disgusted Fairy Godmother was with Shrek, even in his human form. Even if she transformed Fiona again, she'd probably still see her as an ogre. And once Charming became king, his ogre wife would have officially outlived her usefulness to Fairy Godmother.
I like that Fairy Godmother was a manipulation and planning master. She almost won too, the only reason she lost was because King Harold didn’t give Fiona the potion. Also, the theory that she was behind Fiona’s curse from the very beginning is great in the context that she wanted her son as next in line for the throne. It sets the events for Shrek 1 and 2 to occur, and I love it. Also, the whole “FGM is a Karen” thing is something I’m fine with. You can write bad characters to be bad people, so long as they get their comeuppance. One notable example is that she makes a transphobic remark in the movie and, while that quote hasn’t aged well at all, I’d say it still fits within her character of being a bad person.
Agreed with your review! Shrek 2's Fairy Godmother and the overall ending of Shrek 2 are one of the reasons why I always felt like they should've stopped at the first two films. If anything, her low amount of screentime is a testiment to how great she is as a villain. After all, the Wicked Witch of the West had less than 10 minutes of screen time in Wizard of Oz I think. Since 2023 is indeed the year of the rabbit, and June will mark the 35th anniversary of the film, maybe soon you can get around to reviewing Judge Doom from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". Also Biff Tannen from BTTF 1 & 2 if you haven't already.
Her first plan was flawed: in shrek 4 shrek saved Fiona just in time before her parents made a deal with grumple, if only charming live up to his roll to save Fiona on time
Yeah but isn't there Guy Gagne from Turbo, Hendrix from Spirit Untamed , Erwin Armstrong from the Boss Baby 2 and Makunga from Madagascar escape 2 Africa ?

Rumpelstilskin>>>>>>> fairy godmother
What makes Fairy Godmother a great villain the Shrek series is because she set everything motion.

Extremely Hyped for the Villain Review of „Death/Wolf“ from Puss in Boots 2
she is extremely good villan tbh and she played her role to perfection lol
The Wolf from *Puss in Boots: The Last Wish* instantly became my favorite DreamWorks villain
Good pick
@@jayfilms99I think Lord Shen is my pick for the best DreamWorks villains but Death is one of my favorites

She was a great villain for the time. Now Death the wolf has taken over that spot.
Yeah I think you're right
Death isn’t a villain just a force of nature
@@superwetduck_ He can be both
@@jayfilms99there's also Lord Shen from KP2
“Hit it!”

At least she is Way Better than Her son prince charming in Sherk the Third.

How about Simon from the Walking Dead TV series
Yo, You gotta do Death from Puss in Boots he is literally on the same level as the most iconic villain in the Shrek universe.
This upcoming Monday
I thought of a couple more! If you already did these I apologize :
Grimhilde from "Snow White" (1937) and Anne Wilkes from "Misery" (1990)
I’m really excited to see who the villain is for Shrek 5
Same
Can you review thanos next
Suggestion for next villain review, can you do Megatron from Transformers prime next?
Anton Castillo from Far Cry 6 would be an interesting villain review.
Honestly I still think Fairy Godmother is better than Titan
I admit that Titan is a great villain but I feel he's way overshadowed
Feel like Prince, charming in Shrek. The third is even worse than fairy godmother.
