    Nice work. I like how you point out your mistakes so hopefully other people can avoid them!

    Interesting video and good for you taking the time to make it! The way the puts are slowing / sticking in the gameplay indicates that you might need to wax both the board and disks to make them all slide better.
    Wish you the best - and keep it up!~

      Thanks for the kind words! And absolutely, we re-waxed soon after this video, you're spot on.

      @@projecttedford477 Make sure to do the dials! Our board from Tracy had the little circles waxed as well and it makes such a difference!

    Pro tips when using epoxy. First sand your substrate with 120 grit sand paper. This will help the mechanical bond between the epoxy and vinyl/melamine. Second on the back side put painters tape around the edge. As your epoxy drips over the edge it will adhere to the blue tape and you can just pull it off and not have to scrape. Nice build otherwise.

    Great job! I like the self leveling epoxy idea to get a super flat, smooth surface. Thanks for the video!

      @projecttedford477  2 года назад +2

      Thank you! The self leveling epoxy worked great, one thing I left off the video on accident was that if you use the epoxy, make sure your platform is very level and then we used a torch to pop the bubbles from mixing the epoxy. Thanks for watching!

    Did you wax the board at all? The video of the people playing looked like the pucks aren't gliding across the board like they should. Great build video! I made my own board a few years ago so I know the challenges you faced. :) Good job!

    • @projecttedford477

      Yes! Definitely waxed it. The video gameplay is a big deceiving, because we had played so many games on it at that point that I probably needed re-waxing. It actually plays smoother then my Crokinole Canada board!

    Thanks for the video. Just what I needed. One small critique. It was pretty difficult to hear what you were saying over the music and audio from the b-roll. Especially when you were cutting. I’m watching on a phone which I’m sure made it worse but just thought I would give you a heads up. Thx again for the video.

      Thanks Justin! I appreciate that, I've been struggling with my editing software on sound levels when I'm talking without it making it too choppy. I'll keep working on it, so thank you for the feedback!

    Watch you fingers at 7:00! Ouch potential there. Spray wax that thing and use gliss powder and you'll have a nice surface.

      Definitely! A tricky spot, it was almost too flimsy of material to use a push stick on! Thankfully I now use a different material for the rails!

    Interesting and informing vid, thanks for sharing. The looped music is brutal after the first minute though.. would be much better without it.

    The timing issues in the backtrack really hurt on the 100th loop

    Great job. Personally I would have gone with a maple veneer for the top. Easier to wax and more durable. How is the epoxy holding up BTW?

    • @projecttedford477
      @projecttedford477  2 года назад +1

      Hey thanks! Yeah you're spot on, I think a veneer like you are talking about would be the way to go. The epoxy is holding up great!!

    Great build! I've been thinking about making one for the kids for Christmas. How do you find the slide of the epoxy?

      It's really nice, it feels like a shuffle board, but definitely needs a good waxing before you play on it!

    What product exactly is your vinyl sheet? I get lots of different products when I google: pvc, plastic, hdpe, etc.

    • @projecttedford477
      @projecttedford477  Год назад +1

      Hey there, so I'm not sure if this is exactly it, but it's in the plywood panel section at Home Depot. It is very flexible vinyl/MDF sheets. Heres a link to what I think it is: www.homedepot.com/p/1-4-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-MDF-White-Vinyl-1-side-Panel-374964/309670814

      @@projecttedford477 So this is what you used for the rim? Just cut this to the right size and it is easily bendable?

    • @projecttedford477

      Yep that's exactly it. I also used it for the playing surface too!

    What’s the cost analysis vs a purchased board?

    • @projecttedford477
      @projecttedford477  Год назад +1

      Hey Jeff, with building 3 boards it cost approximately $75/board vs $350 for the professionally made one

    Nice work. What’s the difference in weight between the pro and DIY versions?

    • @projecttedford477
      @projecttedford477  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! Almost no difference at all! If you look closely at the pro board you can see that it is a veneered MDF board, the only difference between the pro and mine is that veneer and then the edge or trough made out of vinyl on mine or steam bent plywood on theirs. Oh and I guess the 2 part epoxy vs the poly for finish. Mine weighs maybe an oz or two more, but not by much!

    They way those buttons just stick to the baord when the players are shooting is hard to watch. They should slide almost effortlessly across the board

    • @projecttedford477
      @projecttedford477  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I think that has to do with how well it is waxed at the time. That being said, I have a professional Crokinole Canada Tracey board and the one I built is just as smooth surface as the pro board.
