Your videos are great. I already have this set up on my system, but it really helps me as i'm new to programming to see someone experienced work through the logic of it all. Keep em coming!
Hi Jonathan. I followed your tutorial and it did not complete the registration steps after waiting the 30 minutes. The Alexa symbol registration is a little bit different now. I am from Egypt and I tried to set the region to Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. It did not connect too. Do you have any idea how can I accomplish this?
thanks for the great video. btw in case you didn't know; pressing enter, or selecting multiple signals then dragging the selection of the top signal to itself (just a little left or right, but release on same cue) can auto name signals to the cue name on the module with the module's symbol number as a prefix. could have eliminated most of your typing since you were using generic names anyway. Also, you can paste special signal names instead of paste then F9. Maybe you knew that, always "many ways to skin a cat" as they say :)
Ahh yes, the goold ol' many ways to de-fur a feline. I sometimes use the shortcuts, but usually they obscure what I'm doing. Good tip for fellow viewers, though!
I programmed it the same way in our office, everything is fine except if you ask Alexa for example to set the room lights to 100% then ask a specific lights to 50% and then again room lights to 100%. The module will push again 65535 even if it's already at 65535 but the analog buffer will not let it go through. I had to add an analog one-shot triggering the buffer to have this working properly
Nice.... one questions, were you actually connecting to any lights in your demo or just alexa to the RMC3 for show? I am a fellow programmer and got alexa for xmas... looking to start the projects and was wondering if you have experience with any actual lights...
Hi thanks for the wonderful work and tutorial, please keep posting the more and more programming tips But I have one question, in the upcoming week I am integrating Alexa with CP3 processor in a corporate office So please advise list of website requires to be allowed
Great video!!!! Could you do a Crestron resi lighting video? Now that I know how do register the Alexa module, I'd like to learn how to do infiNET lighting in SIMPL and pair that with Alexa!
You use the method he just showed and the analog signal he uses to set the light level you will tie to "Level_In" and "Level_Out" at the bottom of Basic Dimmer Controls of say for example a CLW-DIMEX-P, they all work the same.
What about custom commands? Is it possible to trigger any events using LightSceneNames ??? (Custom commands will require “ask Crestron” in the command.) Its from module help.
Hi . Awesome videos overworkedlogic! I just would like to ask about the Alexa Module in SIMPL Windows. I cant find it yet in the Crestron modules on my SIMPL Windows . Where can I find that so that I can able to set-up Alexa in Simpl? is it downloadble? Thanks. PS. Sorry, 1st time user here with alexa :)
Omar Aguirre with the option "generic device". You can give it a name like "TV" or in my home "System". A second more in-detail video would be great because it's hard to remember all the phrases like "Alexa tell Crestron to" and than do a bunch of stuff.
Thanks for the very helpful video. If you don't mind, I would like to ask the ff: 1. How come I cant find XPanel in my SIMPL Windows? 2. How do I now "link" the output signals to actually control my real-life lights, not just in XPanel?
Hi! Thank you for this awesome Crestron tutorials! Can you please make a quick tutorial on how to program Apple Watch? Such us how to label bottoms etc. Thank you so much!!!
Quick question, does having the same analog signal names not stomp on each other? I noticed if you have two digital signals that are the same a program will pop up with errors saying you have two same signal names.
Analog jamming is OK from a Simpl perspective. Analog signals provide feedback even to the symbols that they're an output of. Try jamming the analog output of an analog increment and an analog preset together!
Ah got ya that makes sense now. Are you a master programmer? I got my CTI-P101 last year, trying to get my job to send me to 201 this year seeing as i want to further my crestron programming knowledge and skill. Not going to lie, when I first started crestron i got a little overwhelmed being that I didnt have any programming background, but as time goes by SIMPL is getting easier and easier.
Well not technically a master programmer, but I'm certified. And no worries, it seems like most of the people I chat with didn't have any programming experience prior to working with Simpl. Just keep practicing, solving problems, and using new symbols :)
I just hoipe to have a career in crestron programming, I came a long way from troubleshooting crestron equipment to writing program for building on our campus. Minus doing crestron programming for a campus is there good money going elsewhere and doing crestron programming?
Questions like these are great for the subreddit: reddit.com/r/crestron There are a ton of people on there who have much more experience with Crestron (including pay/perks of the job) than I do.
Hi Jonathan, I am having some issue with the registration process. As I send the Registration code using SIMPL Debugger, it does not register and I am still seeing 3 crosses on the registration web page. What might be the possible reason for this? I have followed the steps from the video.
My first thought is to try manually refreshing the Crestron page after you've pasted the registration code into it. My second thought is that the network the processor is sitting on might be inhibiting it from receiving confirmation from Crestron.
Can you poll alexa for the status of devices? Ex. "Alexa, is GenericDeviceX on?" and have alexa respond with a yay or nay? Or can you have the feedback trigger alexa to announce "GenericDeviceX is off"?
I don't think Alexa can do those kinds of things within the Crestron skill. Even outside of the Crestron skill, the only times Alexa pushes alerts are when you have timers or alarms.
Hello, I know it has been a long time but I need some help. I had my system working for 16 months and due to a power outtage we had to reconfigure everything. And now I can register and even link to amazon but the voice control system does not connect. I have the same error as one guy in the commentary session: # Remote Service: SessionManager.RegisterCallback: Registration failed, ResultCode:100-TimedOutLocal. Does anyone know what to do in this case? Thanks a lot
It's been a couple of years since I have done anything with this, Crestron recently changed to a new support platform that is quite a bit better at searching. You might want to check there and also maybe a call/chat with Crestron support they might be able to pinpoint the problem to something specific.

This is awesome just bought a Alexa. Can you do one on Phillips hue light?
Hey glad to hear it! We're thinking about doing a intro to Phillips Hue; how to do the setup and do some simple on/off commands.
Over Worked Logic I would also love to see that video
I know this video is probably outdated now but I cannot find the Amazon modules on simpl windows. Did crestron remove support for alexa?
That's exactly what I'm thinking right now, have you find any information about this?
@@luisarturo3400 Look for Voice Control module under the Crestron Modules
I would like to see something about Pyng from you, how to set it up.
Wow, I am new to Crestron, don't even know this Alexa before, great video👍

What happened to the Alexa Symbol?
Wonderful video... really great. Please keep up the great work!

Just Alexa to the RMC for demonstration. Right now I have Alexa controlling one of my three Hue lights on my desk, but it's just proof of concept.
How secure is this? if a client wants to control their security system with Alexa for example? secondly can you add macro custom commands? Thanks
Great videos, quick question I do not see the Alexa modules and I have the latest software installed.
me also not able to find it .if you solve this problem please help
Great video. I have some questions-- are you available to do some consulting and help?

We'd love to! Unfortunately lighting modules are a bit out of our price bracket. :(

Thanks a lot for your videos and channel.
Excellent job on the tutorial! I'm forwarding this on to some of my fellow programmers.

Great gob and very helpful tutorial!
Do You have any things how to connect Siri to Crestron?
Unfortunately no, it seems like the only way to get Siri to communicate with Crestron is to create an iOS 10 app from scratch. That's a bit of work!
Hello, why i can't enable skill crestron to alexa? but alexa already connected to control system and link to amazon. any advice?
I'm having trouble linking my Amazon account, apparently it seems to be a general error, is there any suggestions on what can be done?
Excellent as always!
Great Video !

Omar Aguirre with the option "generic device". You can give it a name like "TV" or in my home "System". A second more in-detail video would be great because it's hard to remember all the phrases like "Alexa tell Crestron to" and than do a bunch of stuff.

You're going to have to drag your lighting control modules into Simpl and pass the signals from the Alexa module to your lighting modules...
My Simpl is up to date but I dont have an Alexa module......database and device is up to date as well.
the module is under the section "voice control"
me also not able to find it .if you solve this problem please help
Nice work..
very good tutorials you have here

Great video! Thanks!
This is great
I put the registration code but the status is not changing to a green tick. I'm using RMC3.
same issue here any solution?
I'm curious, how would you "start" or "stop" a device? Would the Alexa understand "start" as "on" and "stop" as "off?"
I'm not sure if those words are built in to her vocabulary for this particular skill, best thing to do is to try it!
What happens with your configuration when you say "Alexa, start the bedroom lamp?" :-)
Hah! It actually works. "Start..." turns the lamp on, "stop..." turns the lamp off!
where can I get the module??

We make the tutorials on Crestron software rather than Control4 because we're more familiar with Crestron :)
I am not able to discover the device on alexa app
hi, i found my SIMPL without Alexa folder like you do.. is it the Region issue?
Hi Jonathan,

Setting DNS on the processor fixed it for me.
Is it possible to program with a mini google home?
Does Alexa work on series 2 processors? CP2e?
Great and helpful video 'cause its a complete "manual" Thanks from germany

great video , i wish we had a module like this to siri
Pffft, I wish the lads and lasses at Apple would give Siri an API
Update: looks like Siri does have an API, but you have to get at it through an iOS 10 app
hey there
i didn't find the alexa module in my simpl database.
i am using Crestron MC3 processor also the firmware is updated .
